Abstract

Antenatal care (ANC) examinations in Indonesia are still below the standard coverage of recommended visits, placing pregnant women who do not complete examinations at risk of health problems for both mother and fetus due to late detection. ANC serves as an initial screening for maternal and fetal conditions and is influenced by knowledge, attitudes, and behavior of pregnant women. This study aimed to identify ANC examination behavior among third-trimester pregnant women at PMB Wulan Rahma. This research used a descriptive design with a sample of 15 third-trimester pregnant women selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using questionnaires and observation sheets and analyzed using univariate analysis. The study was conducted at TPMB Wulan Rahma Jodipan, Malang City in August 2024. The results showed that all respondents had good knowledge and positive attitudes toward ANC examinations. Most pregnant women consistently carried out ANC visits, indicating generally good ANC examination behavior. In conclusion, the majority of third-trimester pregnant women demonstrated good antenatal care behavior. Future research is recommended to explore other factors influencing ANC behavior, including individual, social, environmental, and healthcare service factors.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of group counseling using assertive techniques in improving students’ self-esteem at SMPN 1 Makassar. The research employed a quantitative experimental method with a one-group pretest–posttest design. The sample consisted of 12 students selected through purposive sampling based on low self-esteem criteria from a population of 1,437 students. Data were collected using a validated and reliable self-esteem questionnaire and analyzed through descriptive statistics, Kolmogorov-Smirnov normality test, and Wilcoxon signed-rank test using SPSS version 26. The results showed a significant improvement in students’ self-esteem after the intervention. Initially, 75% of students were categorized as having low self-esteem and 25% moderate, while after treatment, 100% of students reached a high self-esteem category. Statistical analysis revealed a significance value of 0.002 (<0.05), indicating that the null hypothesis was rejected and the alternative hypothesis accepted. The findings suggest that assertive group counseling effectively enhances students’ confidence, ability to express opinions, and self-worth. Therefore, this approach can be recommended as an effective intervention in school counseling services to foster positive self-esteem development among adolescents.

Abstract

His study aims to analyze the relationship between loneliness, psycological well being, and fear of missing out (FOMO) in adolescent social media users at SMAN Arjasa Jember. This study used a quantitative approach with a correlational design, involving 265 students selected through cluster random sampling. The results showed a significant relationship between loneliness and FOMO, as well as between psycological well being and FOMO. Adolescents who experienced higher levels of loneliness tended to have greater FOMO tendencies, while those with higher psychological well being tended to have lower levels of FOMO. These results demonstrate the importance of psychological well being and social support in mitigating the negative impact of social media on adolescents. This study provides an important contribution to the development of psychological interventions to address FOMO in adolescents.

Abstract

Smoking behavior within the family environment remains a significant public health concern, particularly due to its impact on children as a vulnerable group. While exposure to secondhand smoke has been widely studied, the risks associated with Thirdhand Smoke (THS) are still less recognized. THS refers to residual toxic substances from tobacco smoke that persist on surfaces such as furniture, clothing, and indoor environments, potentially exposing children even in the absence of active smoking (Matt et al., 2011). This study aims to analyze the dangers of thirdhand smoke exposure in children using a family ecological perspective. The research employs a qualitative approach through a literature review of recent studies related to THS and smoking behavior within family settings. The findings indicate that THS poses significant long-term health risks for children, including respiratory disorders, immune system impairment, and potential carcinogenic effects (Benowitz et al., 2009; Hang et al., 2013). The household environment is identified as the primary source of exposure, where parental smoking behavior contributes to the accumulation of toxic residues (Matt et al., 2011). In conclusion, creating a smoke-free home environment is essential to protect children from the hidden dangers of THS. Increased awareness and preventive efforts within families are crucial to reducing long-term health risks among children.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of the active learning strategy on improving students’ learning motivation. The background of this research is based on the low level of students’ learning motivation due to the dominance of conventional teaching methods that do not actively engage students. The research method used is a quantitative approach with an experimental design. The subjects of this study consist of students divided into an experimental class that implements the active learning strategy and a control class that uses conventional teaching methods. Data collection techniques were carried out through learning motivation questionnaires and observation of students’ activities during the learning process. The results show that there is a significant increase in learning motivation among students who participate in learning using the active learning strategy compared to those in the control class. Therefore, the active learning strategy has a positive effect on improving students’ learning motivation.
