Abstract

This study investigated the effects of role stressors consisting of role conflict, role ambiguity, and role overload on negative affect among civil servants in Local Government “X” after bureaucratic simplification and role equalization. The study further explored the moderating role of proactive personality in this relationship. A survey of 70 civil servants, selected using proportional stratified random sampling, provided the primary data, which were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). The results revealed that all three role stressors significantly contributed to negative affect. Proactive personality showed a significant positive moderating effect on the relationship between role overload and negative affect (β = 0.122, p < 0.05), indicating that proactive individuals may experience increased negative emotions when faced with excessive workload. However, proactive personality did not moderate the effects of role conflict and role ambiguity on negative affect. These findings underscore the need for targeted interventions to address workload-related stress in bureaucratic transformation.

Abstract

This study investigates the role of the police in managing conflicts between residents in Jakarta through the lenses of Community Policing Theory (Polmas) and Smelser's Social Unrest Theory. Conflicts between residents in Jakarta, driven by various socio-economic, cultural, and personal factors, have increased social tensions, disrupting public order and community safety. The police's role in conflict resolution, incorporating law enforcement and community-based prevention approaches, is essential in maintaining social stability. The research explores the effectiveness of the Community Policing (Polmas) program, which fosters cooperation between the police and the community to prevent conflicts through dialogue, mediation, and active participation. The study also applies Smelser's Social Unrest Theory to analyze the structural and psychological factors contributing to social unrest, such as inequality and economic disparities. Through a qualitative, descriptive-analytical methodology, this study highlights the challenges and opportunities in implementing Polmas in Jakarta's complex urban context. The findings suggest that while the police's preventive actions are crucial, the active involvement of community members significantly enhances conflict resolution efforts. The study advocates for an integrated approach combining community-based strategies with insights from Smelser's theory to foster sustainable peace and social harmony in Jakarta.

Abstract

Abstract

This study evaluates the structural condition of the former Hotel Mutiara I building in Yogyakarta, which is undergoing a change of function into a shopping center. In compliance with Indonesian regulations, such as Law No. 28 of 2002 and SNI standards, the structural assessment focuses on safety and feasibility under increased live loads. Using a combination of destructive and non-destructive testing methods, including Core Drill Tests, Pulse Velocity Tests, and Ultrasonic Concrete Tomography, the study analyzes the quality of concrete and reinforcement materials. The findings reveal that the building's concrete compressive strength exceeds the minimum requirement of 21 MPa, indicating acceptable material performance for its age. However, deficiencies, such as plain reinforcement bars and inadequate concrete cover, necessitate compliance upgrades. The increased live load of 6.00 kN/m² due to the change in function requires structural reinforcement, particularly for columns and beams. Recommended measures include applying Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer (CFRP) to enhance axial, shear, and bending capacities and addressing non-compliant structural elements. This research underscores the importance of comprehensive structural evaluations for aging buildings undergoing functional changes, offering practical recommendations to ensure long-term safety, compliance, and functionality while preserving historical architectural integrity.

Abstract

Sociology cannot be directly used in distorting the scope of jurisprudence in terms of its independence, sociology of law is a middle way with various intersections. The complex reality in society gives many distortions whether the law can be independent or become a truly substantially open system, amidst the position of our legal development, which was previously the perspective of Dutch scientists and is currently required to accommodate “the laws that live in a society” So the role of legal sociology in law enforcement in society is very much needed. This research is qualitative descriptive research with the type of library research. The method used in this research is normative legal research methodology, which places law as a building block of ethical structures (namely regarding principles, ethics, regulations from statutory provisions, court decisions, agreements, and doctrine). In this research, the law is not an autonomous institution but is interdisciplinary in dealing with social phenomena to create social welfare. Law enforcement in society is an effort to realize respect for social norms. Through legal improvement, it must include preventive and repressive improvement stages, edit of morality, the behavior of law enforcement officials, and as an essential element is community involvement.

Abstract

Cervical Root Syndrome (CRS) is caused by spinal nerve root compression, manifesting as neck pain, sensory disturbances, and functional impairments. This study evaluates the effectiveness of combining Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) and Neck Calliet Exercise in managing CRS symptoms. A case study was conducted on a 52-year-old woman presenting with pain and functional limitations due to CRS. The interventions were applied in four sessions over two weeks at Ciremai Hospital, Cirebon. TENS was administered at 50-200 Hz frequency and 50-150 µs pulse duration for 15 minutes, targeting the m. splenius capitis and m. upper trapezius muscles bilaterally. The Neck Calliet Exercise included active movements, isometric contractions, and contract-relax stretching. Pain was assessed using the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS), while functional disability was evaluated with the Neck Disability Index (NDI). Post-intervention results revealed a significant reduction in pain across all neck movements, with some movements achieving complete pain resolution. Functional disability scores improved from moderate (42%) to mild (28%), demonstrating enhanced cervical mobility and motor control. These findings suggest that combining TENS and Neck callit exercise provides a synergistic approach to alleviating pain and improving functional outcomes in CRS patients.
