Abstract

In the era of globalization and digitalization, society faces serious challenges in the form of moral degradation, identity crises, and weak social solidarity due to the dominance of materialistic values. In addition, many Islamic educational institutions, especially Islamic boarding schools, still lack development in the areas of economics and life skills for students, so they have not been able to play an optimal role in promoting community independence and social transformation. In fact, Islamic education should ideally function not only as a moral fortress, but also as a means of empowering the community based on spiritual and social values. This study aims to analyze the role of Islamic education in promoting social transformation through character building and community empowerment. The research was conducted at the An-Nur Malangbong Garut Foundation, an Islamic educational institution that integrates formal education, Islamic boarding school curriculum, and productive economic activities based on Islamic values. A qualitative approach was used with a case study method, through interviews, observation, and documentation. The results show that Islamic education at the An-Nur Foundation plays a strategic role in shaping the character of a transformative generation through the internalization of Islamic values, the integration of the national and pesantren curricula, and the implementation of life skills and entrepreneurship programs. Managerially, the institution applies a participatory management pattern that involves teachers, students, and the community in every stage of program planning and evaluation. This strategy not only strengthens the religious and social character of students, but also increases economic independence and community participation in religious and social activities. This study confirms that Islamic education that is managed in a participatory manner and based on community empowerment can be a driving force for sustainable social transformation in the modern era.

Abstract

Digital transformation has fundamentally reshaped work dynamics, yet understanding the toughest challenges managers face in adapting to digital work remains underexplored across sectors. This study investigates the most pressing challenges perceived by practitioner-managers from academia, higher education, international trade, marketing, and technology industries. Using a qualitative approach, we conducted Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) with seven senior managers, all domain experts with substantial leadership experience. Data were thematically analyzed to extract cross-sector insights. Findings reveal that while technological readiness and digital skills gaps are common hurdles, sector-specific issues, such as resistance to change in higher education, cross-border digital compliance in food export businesses, cyber-communication overload in technology management, and balancing data-driven marketing with creativity, compound the challenges. Despite these obstacles, discussions highlight adaptive leadership, collaborative learning, and resilience as pivotal for navigating digital transformation. This research contributes to the understanding of managerial perspectives in digital work transitions and provides practical implications for leadership development and organizational strategy in the digital era.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze how child-friendly library management can serve as a strategic approach to strengthen reading literacy in Islamic elementary education. The research was conducted at SD Al-Firdaus Surakarta, an Islamic primary school integrating literacy and moral education. Using a qualitative descriptive design with a single case study approach, data were collected through observation, semi-structured interviews, and document analysis involving the principal, librarian, teachers, and students. The data were analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s interactive model, comprising reduction, display, and conclusion drawing. The results revealed that child-friendly management was implemented through three interrelated dimensions: the physical design of the library, collaboration among teachers, the librarian, and parents, and the integration of literacy programs grounded in Islamic values. The library provided accessible reading spaces, diverse collections, and a digital library platform that increased students’ engagement and reading frequency. Collaborative literacy programs such as Gemar Baca Buku and Home Reading successfully nurtured students’ reading motivation and moral reflection. The study concludes that a child-friendly library, when managed as a holistic learning ecosystem, can significantly enhance reading literacy while aligning with the ethical and cultural context of Islamic education. This research contributes to the field of educational management by introducing a culturally responsive model that integrates global child-centered principles with local religious and pedagogical values.

Abstract

This study investigates the effects of perceived work-life balance (PWLB) and workload on employee performance, with job satisfaction functioning as a mediating variable, at PT Cahya Delivery, a logistics and service distribution company operating in Sumatra, Indonesia. The research was motivated by a decline in employee performance observed in 2024, accompanied by heightened workload demands during peak delivery periods. A quantitative research design was employed, utilizing structured questionnaires administered to 190 active employees selected through purposive sampling. Data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). Results demonstrate that PWLB exerts a significant positive influence on both job satisfaction and employee performance. Conversely, workload shows a negative direct effect on performance but an unexpected positive effect on job satisfaction, suggesting that increased responsibilities may enhance perceived trust and motivation among employees. Job satisfaction was found to partially mediate the relationships between both exogenous variables and employee performance. These findings underscore the strategic importance of fostering work-life balance and carefully managing workload structures to enhance employee satisfaction and performance. The study provides actionable insights for human resource management in the logistics service sector, particularly in designing challenge-oriented workloads and support mechanisms to sustain productivity and organizational effectiveness.

Abstract

This study reinterprets  Chanlin Baoxun (禪林寶訓) as a foundational text that shapes ethical leadership and institutional governance in Chinese Buddhism from the Song dynasty to the present. Combining philological analysis of classical sources with comparative case studies of Nanputuo and Baoguang Monasteries, it argues that the Baoxun established an enduring paradigm of virtue-based governance that integrates Buddhist self-cultivation with Confucian moral rationality. The research identifies three interrelated principles—self-discipline (de 德), administrative competence (neng能), and social responsibility (gong 公)—that constitute the moral architecture of legitimate monastic authority. The text's internalization of Confucian ethics, particularly li (ritual propriety) and zhong-xiao (loyalty and filiality), illustrates how Sinicization functioned historically as an ethical translation rather than ideological assimilation. Contemporary monasteries continue to embody this legacy through distinct modalities: Nanputuo emphasizes compassion-driven civic engagement, while Baoguang institutionalizes virtue through transparent moral bureaucracy. The findings challenge reductionist readings of Sinicization as state compliance, demonstrating instead a long-standing process of moral localization through which Buddhist institutions negotiate cultural legitimacy and ethical autonomy. The study contributes to broader theories of religious leadership and governance by proposing a "virtue-bureaucracy" model that reconciles charisma, ethics, and institutional order—suggesting that durable authority, whether spiritual or secular, remains a moral achievement grounded in disciplined virtue.

Abstract

This article discusses the implications of the variety of mutawatirah qiraah on the interpretation of legal verses. The Qur'an, viewed from a historical perspective, cannot be separated from the various ways of reading or aspects of qiraah. Starting from the emergence of different versions of readings that were influenced by differences in Arab dialects at that time, then Uthman bin Affan took steps to copy the Qur'an as a form of maintaining the authenticity of the manuscript. History records that the differences in the readings of the companions at that time were in accordance with what was taught by the Prophet Muhammad Saw. However, scholars agree that there are several qualifications for the quality of qiraah, such as mutawatirah qiraah, masyhurah qiraah, and syadzah qiraah. The diversity of qiraah cannot be denied its existence which indirectly has implications for interpretation. Both determine the quality of an interpretation-deriving of fiqh law. This research uses a literature study model.

Abstract

This study discusses the role of the strategy of habitual reading of the Qur'an in facilitating the memorization process in Tahfidz class students at MINU Sunan Ampel 1. The strategy of habitual reading consistently and repeatedly is believed to form a strong memorization pattern, making it easier for students to remember and repeat the verses of the Qur'an. The habit of reading at MINU Sunan Ampel 1 is implemented routinely as part of students' daily activities, accompanied by supporting methods such as takrir and muroja'ah which increase the focus and accuracy of memorization. The main supporting factors for the success of this strategy include student consistency, teacher guidance, and a conducive learning environment. The results of the study indicate that the habit of reading the Qur'an regularly can improve the quality and fluency of students' memorization, thereby significantly facilitating the tahfidz process. Thus, the strategy of habituating reading the Qur'an is an effective approach in learning tahfidz at MINU Sunan Ampel 1.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the implementation of physical play as a medium for gender-responsive learning in early childhood education. Gender stereotypes formed from an early age can limit children's developmental potential. Through a descriptive qualitative approach, this study explores how physical play can be an effective means to build gender equality awareness in children aged 4-6 years. Research findings show that physical play designed with a gender-responsive approach can reduce gender stereotypes, increase children's self-confidence regardless of gender, and develop motor skills inclusively. The implications of this research provide practical recommendations for early childhood educators in designing learning activities that support gender equality from an early age.
