Abstract

Modern paradigms in science are the result of a long evolution of philosophical thought rooted in the classical debate between empiricism, rationalism, and positivism. This article examines these three paradigms in depth by reviewing their epistemological foundations, key figures, and their implications for the development of modern science. Through a literature review approach, this article explores the contributions of philosophers such as John Locke, René Descartes, David Hume, Auguste Comte, and Karl Popper. The study shows that empiricism emphasizes sensory experience as the primary source of knowledge; rationalism relies on reason as the basis of universal truth; while positivism places empirical verification and the scientific method as the measure of scientific truth. These three paradigms complement each other in forming the foundation of modern scientific methodology. The integration of rationality and empirical experience results in a more comprehensive scientific approach. Thus, the modern paradigm is no longer monolithic, but rather open and dynamic to epistemological plurality.

Abstract

This thesis, titled "Comparative Study of Taklifi Law on Abu Hamid Al-Ghazali and Abdul Hamid Al-Sharwani's Views on Shaving Hair and Cutting Nails during Junub," aims to answer two research questions: What are Abu Hamid Al-Ghazaliand Abdul Ḥamid Al-Sharwani's views on shaving hair and cutting nails during junub? How can the taklifi law be compared and analyzed in relation to their views?. This study employs a library research approach, gathering data from various literary sources, including books and journals. The author compares and analyzes the taklifi law in relation to Al-Ghazali and Al-Sharwāni's views on shaving hair and cutting nails during junub. The study reveals two main findings: Al-Ghazali's view, as stated in his book "Ihya’ Ulum al-Din," is that it is not advisable to shave hair or cut nails during junub, as this may lead to accountability in the afterlife. In contrast, Al-Sharwāni recommends delaying these actions until after purification. (2) The analysis of taklifi law reveals that both scholars' views imply that shaving hair and cutting nails during junub are disliked (makruh). The study concludes that both Al-Ghazali and Al-Sharwani's views on shaving hair and cutting nails during junub are similar, and it is recommended that individuals, especially the general public, gain a deeper understanding of Islamic law to avoid making hasty judgments without proper evidence.

Abstract

The development of information and communication technology in the digital era has brought significant transformations in the field of education, including in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning. This study aims to describe the use of digital Qur’an applications as an innovation in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning and identify its impact on students' motivation and understanding of the Qur’an. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation involving teachers and students at a secondary school in Situbondo. The findings indicate that the use of digital Qur’an applications, such as Qur'an Kemenag and Muslim Pro, facilitates students in reading, listening, and understanding the meaning of Qur’anic verses interactively. Teachers also utilize digital interpretation and audio recitation features to enhance contextual and engaging learning experiences. However, challenges such as limited digital literacy and inadequate access to technological devices still hinder optimal implementation. This study concludes that the integration of digital Qur’an applications into PAI learning effectively supports the achievement of Islamic education goals, especially in strengthening students' spirituality, Qur’anic literacy, and moral character. It is recommended that digital literacy training be provided to Islamic Education teachers so that technology-based learning management can be more effective and sustainable.

Abstract

Islamic education in Indonesia faces multidimensional challenges in the contemporary era, not only in the form of intense competition between educational institutions but also increasingly complex quality demands and vulnerability to various crises. This article aims to comprehensively analyze the role of strategic management as a systematic approach to improving the quality of Islamic education. Through an in-depth literature review of various recent sources, this article outlines the nature of strategic management and the quality of Islamic education, identifies determinants that influence quality, explores the concept of crisis management in the context of Islamic education, and formulates a framework for effective strategic management implementation. The analysis shows that the quality of Islamic education is a multidimensional construct influenced by input factors (leadership, teachers, students, curriculum, infrastructure) and integrated managerial processes. The application of strategic management, which includes the stages of strategy formulation, implementation, and evaluation, has proven effective in guiding Islamic educational institutions to achieve their goals in a more structured, measurable, and adaptive manner to environmental changes. Furthermore, crisis preparedness through sound crisis management is an integral part of institutional resilience amidst uncertainty. It was concluded that the integration of visionary strategic planning, consistent implementation, continuous evaluation, and crisis preparedness is a strategic key for Islamic educational institutions to not only survive but also excel in holistically and sustainably improving the quality of their education amidst the dynamics of the times.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the trends and disparities in the Gross Enrollment Rate (GER) and Net Enrollment Rate (NER) in primary education across the Sulawesi region from 2014 to 2024, and to examine their relationship with the Human Development Index (HDI). Using a descriptive quantitative method, the research employed secondary data from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) and UNESCO Institute for Statistics (UIS). Data analysis showed that all six provinces in Sulawesi experienced an increase in educational participation and human development, with North Sulawesi achieving the highest HDI growth (from 69.96 to 75.03), while Gorontalo remained below the regional average (65.17 to 71.23) due to infrastructural and socio-economic constraints. The average Gross Enrollment Rate exceeded 100%, and the Net Enrollment Rate ranged between 91–99%, reflecting broad access yet persistent efficiency issues such as grade repetition and age mismatch. The study concludes that economic capacity, infrastructure, and local policy alignment significantly influence educational equity. Strengthening data-based planning, inclusive support for marginalized groups, and improving teacher quality are recommended strategies to enhance meaningful participation and achieve Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education).

Abstract

Education is a fundamental right guaranteed in Islam for every individual regardless of gender. However, in some Muslim countries, women often face barriers in accessing equal education. This study aims to examine the challenges of gender equality in Islamic education and find solutions that are in accordance with Islamic principles. This study uses a literature study method with a descriptive qualitative approach, utilizing primary sources such as the Quran and Hadith, as well as secondary sources such as journal articles, books, and education policy reports. The research findings reveal that gender barriers in education are caused by inflexible religious interpretations, restrictive social norms, and less inclusive education policies. Nevertheless, several countries such as Indonesia, Turkey, and Tunisia have succeeded in reducing the gender gap through education policies that support women. Islam, as a religion that places justice as a primary principle, has great potential to be a solution to this problem. This study concludes that gender equality in education can be achieved through an inclusive understanding of Islam and the formation of policies that favor women.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine the strategic role of character education in the process of developing a sustainable and civilized society. Character strengthening is seen as a moral foundation as well as a social instrument that fosters collective awareness and citizen participation in building an inclusive civilization. The research method uses a library research approach, with a literature selection process based on inclusion criteria (Sinta/Scopus/Garuda indexed journal articles, relevant books, 2019–2025). This article analyzes character education policies in Indonesia, their relationship to local wisdom values, and relevant integration models in the context of a pluralistic society. The results of the study indicate that character strengthening is effective when supported by adaptive public policies, persuasive communication strategies based on wisdom and mau‗idhah hasanah, and collaboration between educational institutions, the government, and local communities. Character education is not merely a cognitive process, but also a social transformation towards a society that is moral, empowered, and just.
