This study investigates the effect of emotional intelligence on the academic achievement of senior secondary school students in Biology within Wukari Metropolis, Nigeria. Specifically, the study examines the influence of emotional awareness, emotional management, socio-emotional awareness, and relationship management on students’ academic performance. A descriptive research design was adopted, with a sample of 150 students selected through simple random sampling. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire and analyzed using mean and standard deviation. The findings reveal that emotional awareness significantly influences academic achievement in Biology, as students with higher emotional awareness tend to perform better academically. Additionally, students exhibited challenges in emotional management, which adversely impacted their academic performance. Socio-emotional awareness was also found to be a contributing factor, highlighting the importance of interpersonal understanding in academic contexts. Furthermore, relationship management skills, including help-seeking behavior and collaboration, positively influenced student achievement in Biology. The study concludes that emotional intelligence plays a vital role in academic success and recommends the integration of emotional intelligence training into the school curriculum. Such initiatives would support the development of self-awareness, emotional regulation, and interpersonal competencies, thereby fostering improved academic outcomes among secondary school students.

The tourism sector at Goa Rang Reng Waterfall in Gianyar, Bali, faces challenges such as stagnant visitor numbers due to limited promotion, inadequate infrastructure, and lack of skilled human resources in marketing management. This study aims to develop effective marketing strategies to increase tourist visits while supporting sustainable tourism development. Employing qualitative field research, data were collected through direct interviews with site managers, local community leaders, and tourists, complemented by observational analysis. The findings reveal that enhancing physical facilities, optimizing digital marketing efforts especially via social media and fostering community involvement are critical factors to attract more visitors. Additionally, the site’s unique natural beauty and cultural significance provide a strong foundation for sustainable tourism growth. The study concludes that a comprehensive marketing approach combined with sustainable management practices can significantly improve the destination’s appeal and economic benefits for the local community. These results contribute to tourism management literature by emphasizing the integration of cultural preservation with modern marketing strategies and offer practical implications for similar emerging natural attractions.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) have emerged as critical tools for measuring and improving the performance of higher education institutions (HEIs). This systematic literature review synthesizes existing research on the conceptualization, implementation, frameworks, and challenges associated with KPIs in the higher education sector. Following the PRISMA framework, a comprehensive search was conducted across major academic databases, including Google Scholar, ERIC, PubMed, ProQuest, and Scopus, resulting in the selection of 20 relevant studies published between 1992 and 2024. The review identifies key dimensions of KPIs, such as academic performance, research productivity, and institutional efficiency highlighting their broad applicability. However, it also uncovers persistent challenges in implementation, including issues related to data reliability, stakeholder resistance, and the difficulty of aligning KPIs with diverse institutional goals. The study concludes that while KPIs are widely recognized as valuable performance management tools, there is a pressing need for more standardized frameworks and the integration of advanced technologies to improve the accuracy and utility of KPI systems. This review contributes to the discourse on higher education management by offering a comprehensive overview of current KPI practices and proposing directions for future research and institutional policy development.

Fair Value Accounting (FVA) plays a critical role in financial reporting by aiming to reflect the accurate economic value of assets and liabilities. However, its influence on investor confidence remains underexplored in emerging economies such as Nepal. This study examines investor perceptions of FVA and investigates the relationship between key accounting dimensions and investor confidence. Employing a cross-sectional, quantitative research design, data were collected via a structured questionnaire from 385 respondents, including BBS and MBS students, freelance investors, and teaching faculty using convenience sampling within the Kathmandu Valley. The results reveal significant positive relationships between FVA components and investor confidence. Specifically, transparency, valuation reliability, and frequent revaluation significantly enhance investor confidence, whereas volatility does not show a meaningful effect. The regression model accounted for over 54% of the variance in investor confidence. The study concludes that enhancing the clarity, reliability, and frequency of fair value reporting can substantially improve investor trust in Nepal’s financial markets, offering practical implications for policymakers, regulators, and accounting professionals.

This study investigates the root causes of the "inconsistent color" defect in the dyeing process at PT XYZ and evaluates the effectiveness of corrective actions undertaken to address the issue. Pareto analysis revealed that inconsistent color accounted for over 50% of total production defects, indicating it as a critical quality concern. Root cause analysis using the Fishbone diagram and 5 Why method identified human and method-related factors as primary contributors, particularly inaccurate dye mixing due to uncalibrated measurement tools and the absence of standard operating procedures (SOPs). To address these issues, corrective actions were implemented using the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) cycle, including the development of SOPs, the introduction of quality control checklists, and targeted operator training. Following implementation, the defect rate decreased by 22.6% over a six-month period, demonstrating the effectiveness of structured quality improvement methods. While the study confirms the value of systematic interventions in enhancing product consistency, it is limited by its focus on a single defect type and a short observation period. Future research should investigate a broader range of defects and consider the integration of advanced quality management frameworks such as Six Sigma or Total Quality Management (TQM). The findings underscore the critical role of continuous process control, regular calibration, and workforce competence in achieving and sustaining high-quality standards in textile manufacturing.

This study investigates student preferences for off-campus cafes versus on-campus spaces as venues for group study, focusing on factors such as noise and distraction, social interaction, facilities, and overall productivity. Guided by a positivist philosophy and a deductive approach, the research adopts a descriptive and comparative design to analyze quantitative data from 141 college students collected through a structured self-administered questionnaire. Results indicate a general preference for off-campus cafes due to their comfortable atmosphere, robust digital facilities such as Wi-Fi and charging ports, and a social ambiance that fosters group interaction. However, cafes are also perceived as more distracting because of higher noise levels. In contrast, on-campus spaces are valued for access to academic resources, a motivating academic environment, and suitability for quiet, focused group work. Paired sample t-test results confirm significant differences in preferences between the two settings. The findings suggest that students choose study environments according to their specific needs seeking social engagement and comfort in cafes, and academic support and concentration on campus. The study recommends that educational institutions integrate both social and academic features in study space design to accommodate diverse learning styles and collaborative needs.

This paper examines the evolution of ASEAN defense diplomacy in response to two major geopolitical challenges: the 2018 U.S.–China trade war and China’s increasing assertiveness in the South China Sea, with a specific focus on the Scarborough Shoal standoff. Utilizing a qualitative research approach, the study analyzes ASEAN’s institutional frameworks namely the ASEAN Defense Ministers' Meeting (ADMM), ADMM-Plus, and the ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) to explore how defense diplomacy functions alongside economic strategies. The findings suggest that ASEAN’s defense diplomacy serves a stabilizing role by fostering regional unity, facilitating strategic hedging, and sustaining military communication channels amid escalating trade and maritime tensions. The study argues that ASEAN’s dual engagement with both the U.S. and China, despite the limitations of consensus-based diplomacy, enables the bloc to avoid alignment traps and enhances its collective resilience against external coercion. Ultimately, ASEAN defense diplomacy, though institutionally constrained, proves to be a vital instrument for maintaining strategic balance, upholding regional stability, and reinforcing the rules-based international order.

The Indonesian food and beverage sector contributed 33.72% to national industrial GDP in 2024 (BPS, 2024), underscoring its strategic economic role amid challenges such as macroeconomic volatility, regulatory changes, and shifting consumer preferences. Despite its significance, limited empirical research examines how leverage and sales growth affect firm value when moderated by profitability. This study investigates these relationships using secondary data from 20 food and beverage companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) between 2019 and 2023. Employing panel data regression with a Random Effect Model (REM) and Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA), the results show that leverage has a significant positive effect on firm value (β = 2.19, p < 0.05), while sales growth has no significant effect. Profitability significantly moderates the leverage–firm value relationship, with high-leverage, high-profit firms achieving greater market valuation, but does not moderate the sales growth–firm value relationship. These findings highlight profitability as a key factor that amplifies the positive effects of debt on firm value, whereas revenue growth alone does not enhance market valuation. The study offers practical implications for managers, investors, and policymakers in optimizing capital structure under volatile market conditions, and recommends incorporating macroeconomic variables and cross-sectoral data in future research for broader applicability. This study addresses the limited research on financial determinants of firm value in Indonesia’s oil and gas subsector, a strategic industry for both energy security and capital market performance. It examines the effects of solvency, profitability, firm growth, and firm size on firm value during 2019–2023. Using a quantitative approach, secondary data from 13 listed companies were selected through purposive sampling, sourced from audited annual reports, and analyzed using panel regression with the Random Effect Model. The findings reveal that profitability (ROA) has a significant positive effect on firm value (PBV), whereas solvency (DER), firm size (LN.TA), and firm growth have no significant effects. These results suggest that in a capital-intensive, commodity-driven sector, operational efficiency is a stronger driver of market valuation than scale or leverage. Managerially, oil and gas companies should prioritize improving ROA through cost efficiency, asset optimization, and stable production rather than focusing solely on asset expansion. For investors, profitability emerges as a more reliable valuation indicator than firm size or debt structure. For regulators and the Indonesia Stock Exchange, sector-specific disclosures emphasizing operational efficiency and production performance could enhance market transparency. Future studies are encouraged to incorporate macroeconomic variables, global oil price movements, and non-financial performance metrics to provide a more comprehensive understanding of firm value in the energy sector.

This study evaluates and enhances the quality control process at Moca More Store, a micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME), through the application of the Six Sigma methodology. Using data from January to September 2024, quality issues were analyzed via Defects Per Million Opportunities (DPMO), sigma level calculation, control charts, Pareto diagrams, and fishbone diagrams. Results indicate considerable process variability, with DPMO values ranging from a peak of 8,833 in July to a low of 5,563 in April, and a maximum sigma level of only 2.77. Inadequate packaging accounted for 78.83% of defects, making it the primary improvement target. Root cause analysis identified human factors, methods, machinery, and raw materials as major contributors to the problem. The improvement and control phases implemented standard operating procedures and real-time monitoring tools to reduce defects and stabilize processes. The study concludes that Six Sigma can effectively pinpoint and address critical quality issues in MSMEs, but long-term improvement requires embedding a quality-oriented culture, maintaining systematic control mechanisms, and integrating continuous feedback.
