Abstract

Coexistence among nations and peoples cannot be achieved in a context of isolation and avoidance of dialogue with others, whether at the individual, group, institutional, or state level. Dialogue helps to bridge perspectives and remove misunderstandings. While some speak of a "clash of civilizations," this notion arises from certain entrenched mindsets. A better approach would be to advocate for a "dialogue of civilizations," especially in a world fraught with violence and the collapse of traditional governance systems. Dialogue is vital, as it is a means of bringing peoples closer together. It is beneficial to understand the West's perspective on the Islamic world, as understanding the other's stance is essential. It is equally important to allow the other to know you, rather than forming prejudiced judgments that can lead to misunderstandings, potentially escalating to violence and war. This war could have been avoided if both parties had listened to each other and engaged in dialogue. This leads us to explore the reasons behind the existing tension and suggest practical means and a working strategy to bridge gaps between peoples. This study uses a descriptive and analytical approach to the current situation and history, based on facts and documents. The research findings indicate that the existing differences between the Islamic and Western worlds are due to negative perceptions of each other. Therefore, this study identifies several means to achieve coexistence, such as educational curricula, promoting the values of dialogue and acceptance of the other, avoiding double standards, and working on institutionalized dialogue.

Abstract

This paper explores how the economic crisis, lack of education, political corruption, and Western intervention contribute to declines in overall democratization in developing or LDC nations. Using a comparative analysis of case studies from various regions, the study analyzes cross-cutting trends and deviations in democratic backsliding. This paper suggests how economic instability either originates in or feeds resource scarcity and instability in local and world markets, resulting in a downward spiral of poverty, unemployment, and social unrest that can destroy public confidence in democratic institutions. Keeping the access to education to the masses low, with the representatives disengaging from their voters, makes the individuals vulnerable and weak, making democracy weak. One example is political corruption, which abuses power for personal gain, undermining public trust and confidence in democratic governance. The trajectory where this was at that point could be influenced by external actors, like foreign aid or structural adjustment programs from international financial institutions, that perpetuate dependency and, if the terms of those loans are not met, impose austerity packages that shrink democracy. This paper contributes to the academic literature on LDCs challenged by crisis redeems in democracies by highlighting processes over multiple years that determine crises as the formation of social, economic, political, or external tensions involving three interconnected levels of operations of tensions: social, economic, and political; political and external; and financial and external. Such insights illustrate the urgency for holistic solutions that confront the causes of democratic deterioration and enable the US to build sustained support that is successful against those most at risk.

Abstract

This paper explores factionalism in Nepalese political parties and its causes and effects on party factions. Nepal’s political culture is rife with factionalism, splinter groups, and power struggles. The paper traces the historical development of factionalization from ideological conflict and personal rivalry. The paper segments society into groups based on ideology, personality, geography, and one-off issues. It analyzes the negative impact of factionalism on party discipline, stability, policymaking, and government. This paper examines the social non-linearities of leadership in factionalism and shows how their presence makes effective leadership essential to combatting factionalism's effects. This case study of major Nepalese political parties is technically an objective and practical demonstration of factionalism. A global perspective can enhance many of the firm conclusions based on case studies of factionalism within political parties in various countries. The paper suggests ways of dealing with and tackling the issue of factionalism, including the importance of keeping its internal democracy and communication and showing how to deal with elements that would not help. The paper concludes with possible driving factors behind this exclusive mirage of a political system. It suggests a few essential recommendations to subdue factionalism, like strengthening leadership, intra-party democracy, improving the legislative mechanisms, etc. It essentially places the responsibility on concern for factionalism, which can stymie effective government and dilute the moral legitimacy of democracy in Nepal.

Abstract

This study was conducted in response to the scarcity of Arabic research on psychotherapeutic interventions for schizophrenia compared to pharmacological treatments, which are more prevalent in Western societies. It thus represents a significant scientific contribution to this field. The study aims to enhance the social skills of individuals with schizophrenia and facilitate their reintegration into society through the implementation of a therapeutic program at Ibn Al-Hassan Psychiatric Hospital in Fez. A clinical case study approach was adopted, with a sample comprising three male patients diagnosed with schizophrenia. Data collection tools included clinical observation, medical history analysis, clinical interviews, and pre- and post-assessments using a social skills scale. The collected data were analyzed by comparing pre- and post-test results to measure the program’s effectiveness. The findings revealed a significant improvement in the participants’ social skills, allowing them to interact more effectively with their surroundings and reintegrate into their family environments following a reduction in the severity of their symptoms. Some initial resistance to therapy was observed due to auditory and visual hallucinations, but these diminished after three to four sessions. The study confirmed the effectiveness of psychoeducational therapy in improving social skills among individuals with schizophrenia, contributing to their reintegration and reducing relapse risks. Furthermore, it underscored the need to expand Arabic research in this field to develop more effective therapeutic interventions.

Abstract

The rise of digital learning resources has led to ongoing debates about the effectiveness of e-books compared to printed books in academic performance. University students are increasingly using both formats, but their impact on learning outcomes remains a subject of interest. This study explores students’ perceptions of e-books and printed books and their influence on academic performance. A quantitative research approach was employed to examine the comparative impact of e-books and printed books on academic performance. A structured questionnaire was distributed both online and offline to collect primary data from 210 university students across Shanker Dev Campus, Pulchowk Engineering Campus, Saraswoti Multiple Campus, and KIST College. Demographic analysis revealed that 96.7% of participants were undergraduates, with a balanced gender distribution (54.5% female, 45.5% male). Descriptive statistics indicated that printed books received higher mean ratings compared to e-books, particularly in perceived academic utility. Correlation analysis showed a moderate positive relationship between e-book usage and academic performance (r = 0.406, p < 0.001) and between printed book usage and academic performance (r = 0.449, p < 0.001), suggesting that both formats contribute to learning outcomes, with printed books having a slightly stronger association. The study found that both e-books and printed books positively impact academic performance, with printed books demonstrating a marginally stronger correlation. While e-books offer convenience and accessibility, printed books remain preferred for deeper comprehension and retention. The findings highlight the need for a balanced approach in integrating digital and traditional learning materials to optimize academic success.

Abstract

India’s contribution in the liberation war of Bangladesh was outstanding. Friendship relation exists between the two countries since the liberation war of Bangladesh. As a large neighboring country, Bangladesh has maintained good relationship with India since birth. In this age of globalization, no country can meet its demand alone. Bangladesh also cannot meet alone. Bangladesh is dependent on other countries of the world for many things starting from daily necessities. Overall, Bangladesh is more dependent on its neighboring country India. Again, India is also dependent on neighboring Bangladesh in many ways. It is through this dependence that relationships are built. Since Bangladesh and India are both bordering countries, they have developed better relations than other countries in security, military, and other matters. Historically, there are many other reasons for the friendly relations between Bangladesh and India. Moreover, Bangladesh and India being members of SAARC and BIMSTEC have developed a special friendship between the two countries. India is considered as an eternal friend due to its contribution to the independence war of Bangladesh. There have been many ups and downs in the relations between India and Bangladesh since the pre-independence period. There have been discussions and criticisms on various issues between the two countries. Various initiatives have been taken to sweeten the relationship. This paper discusses the past history of the relationship between Bangladesh and India, the current situation of the relationship, and how the relationship will be stood in the future.

Abstract

The study examines the macroeconomic effects of interest rate shocks in Nigeria using a rolling impulse response method within a structural vector autoregressive (SVAR) framework. It fills a gap in understanding how interest rate fluctuations affect key economic indicators, including GDP growth, inflation, and exchange rate (EXC), by assessing their reactions to interest rate changes over various time periods. Results indicate that interest rate shocks significantly influence GDP growth, inflation, and exchange rate initially, with these effects fading within 4-6 months. The varied responses across different periods reflect changing economic conditions. The study suggests that policymakers should adopt a flexible approach to interest rate management, considering the current economic context. Additionally, ongoing monitoring of how key economic indicators react to interest rate changes is essential for effective policy development.

Abstract

Dynamic economic analysis often involves understanding how economic variables evolve over time. One approach to modeling these dynamics is through the application of difference equations. Difference equations provide a framework for describing the evolution of economic variables in discrete time periods, making them particularly useful for analyzing time series data and economic processes that unfold in steps. In dynamic economic analysis, difference equations are an effective tool for modeling and comprehending how economic variables change with time. These difference equations are used by to study the behavior with economic systems and forecast future trends. Examples of these systems include market dynamics in the cobweb model and capital accumulation in the Solow growth model. Understanding the long-term behavior of complex systems is further aided by stability analysis, which guarantees that the models offer insightful information about economic processes. Stability analysis further aids in understanding the long-term behavior of these systems, ensuring that the models provide meaningful insights into economic processes.
