Abstract

Online business is the most popular and much-loved business opportunity in Indonesia today. Apart from not requiring large capital in its management, this type of business can be done by anyone, anytime, and anywhere. It's even enough to only have one or two social media accounts, business or online sales can already be done with various products. This paper discusses the opportunities and challenges of online business in fulfilling the family economy, especially urban communities in Makassar. The unit of analysis of this study is five families, each of which a wife or husband works as an online seller with different products and marketing targets. The selection of urban communities as the locus and target of the study was because the level of difficulty in the process of fulfilling the economic needs of the family was much higher than that of rural communities. Urban communities have few alternative choices of work to meet family needs due to a lot of competition, while rural communities are much more numerous and the family atmosphere is still very strong.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the moral and cultural values in the mappacci tradition at weddings of the Bugis community, to understand the procession of the mappacci tradition of the Bugis community, to describe the moral values found in the mappacci tradition of the Bugis community and the meaning of society in the mappacci tradition at weddings of the Bugis community. The results of this research show that based on the existence of the mappacci tradition which is slowly but surely starting to fade, there are still some Bugis people in Bitowa Village, Manggala District who continue to maintain the implementation of the mappacci tradition in weddings. Although it does not mean that their knowledge of the moral values contained in the Mappacci tradition itself is more obedient to customs alone.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the mandoangan process in the village of Warian, the values ​​contained in the mandoangan tradition and the existence of a tradition of 40 days of death (mandoangan) in the village of Perangian, Baraka District, Enrekang Regency. This study uses a qualitative approach. Data is collected through interviews, direct observation and documentation. The data obtained is organized into categories and collected into units and choosing which ones are important and conclusions are made. The results showed that: (1) the mandoangan tradition was carried out when there were dead people to pray for the deceased, massubak litak, mangbala batu, bongi horn, karuen bala batu, mandoangan, and also providing siri leaves, lime, areca nut, banana leaves, water white, incense, sugar cane, and barasanji which have been inherited from generation to generation in the Peragian Village community; (2) The values ​​contained in the madoangan tradition in particular such as spiritual and religious values, while the general values ​​such as the value of solidarity or the value of mutual cooperation; (3) The existence of a tradition of 40 days of death (madoangan) is attributed to the existence of a consistent attitude in the Warian village community. In addition, hereditary cultural inheritance is one aspect that has kept this tradition until now.

Abstract

This study aims to find out: (1) Knowing the series of implementation of the appalili custom in the Baju Bodoa Village, Maros Baru District, Maros Regency. (2) Find out how youth participate in preserving the appalili custom in the Baju Bodoa sub-district, Maros Baru District, Maros Regency. (3) Knowing the symbolic meaning and cultural values ​​contained in the appalili custom. This research uses a type of qualitative research which is analyzed and written descriptively. Data collection techniques used by using the method of observation, interviews and documentation. The results of this study indicate that (1) The implementation of the traditional appalili ceremony is carried out on November 16-17 every year with the following series, namely tidying up, maintaining/washing and plowing the fields using offerings and royal heirlooms. (2) The role of the youth in the traditional appalili ceremony is to spread invitations, entertain traditional councilors and other guests in a customary manner called (a'bembeng), hold heirlooms according to the tasks given by traditional stakeholders. (3) One of the meanings contained in the appalili traditional ceremony is as a form of request to Allah the Almighty so that the rice grows fertile with abundant harvests and contains cultural values ​​such as mutual cooperation, religion and gratitude..

Abstract

The struggle to achieve Indonesian independence happened in many regions, including in Mandar, West Sulawesi. Netherlands have conquered Mandar in 1905 where I Mandawari as mara’dia (king) of Balanipa signed an agreement (Korte Verklaring) with the Netherlands. The comquering created changes of Mandar administrative bussiness to be imperial system untill Japan colonialized Indonesia. Japan colonialization expelled the Dutch. The fighters felt that Japanese arrival would bring a significant impact on the current Mandar region. It is because Japan want to control Indonesia, including Mandar. Therefore the warriors came to against Japanese forces, until independence can be achieved. During the independence period, a figure of woman appears in Mandar, called Andi Depu. She became a leader in the struggle. At the same time, she also served as royal mara'dia Balanipa to replace her husband. Andi Depu had a great roles in the struggle and her position as the King of Balanipa Mandar is one of the achievements that were achieved as a woman. Andi Depu has a princip to apply sibali parrri’ in Mandar society. Moreover, she can apply the sibali parri' concept in carrying out its role as a leader. Researchers hope the results of this research will reveal how Andi Depu in her struggle and how Mandar people look the position of women in the sibali parri' concept. Furthermore, researchers hope this study could be a reference to further research and more importantly become a reference in maintaining the concept sibali parri' are now starting extinguished swallowed era.

Abstract

This study reveals the resistance of the Unra people in Bone, South Sulawesi. As in other places, the villagers of Unra have long held grudges over the harsh treatment of Japanese accomplices. Even though they are also countrymen, they are more concerned with Japan than their own countrymen. The hatred of the Unra people grew because those who were appointed as Sullaluang Unra came from outside Unra. Sulaluang also acts unwisely in dealing with his people. There was hatred between the Unra community/residents and the local ruler, Sullaluang, who sided with Japan. This research uses the historical method with stages; heuristics (collecting data), Criticism (Data verification), Interpretation (data interpretation), Historiography (writing).

Abstract

This research aims to find out: forms of gender injustice in the family in Samaelo Village, factors that cause gender injustice, the impact of gender injustice in the family for women. This type of research is qualitative research with purposive sampling technique with 4 informants from housewives who have jobs. The collection techniques are observation, interview and documentation. The data analysis technique in this research is qualitative analysis with stages (1) data reduction (2) data presentation and (3) conclusion. The results showed that: (1) the forms of gender injustice that still occur and can be found in families in Samaelo Village are subordination, stereotyping, domestic violence and double burden; (2) the factors that cause gender injustice to still occur in families are economic factors and cultural factors, namely the patriarchal system which until now still dominates the culture of society; (3) the impact of gender injustice on women is the rise of child marriage which triggers other problems such as children's education must be stopped, the emergence of economic problems and due to unstable emotions that trigger continuous arguments that lead to domestic violence and even divorce.

Abstract

This study aims to find out: knowing how the process of conversion of agricultural land into PLTB in Binamu Subdistrict, Jeneponto Regency, knowing how the community adapted agricultural land processes were adapted, and knowing how social and cultural changes in the community were converted. In this study used a type of qualitative research that was analyzed and written descriptively. The technique of data collection is done by using the method of observation, interviews, and documentation by involving as many as 8 informants. Based on the results of the study showed that: (1) the initial process of conversion of agricultural land into the Bayu Power Plant was started from the PLTB to the local government, and together with the government came to the residents whose land would be converted. Then do the socialization of the conversion of agricultural land, the process of transferring agricultural land takes about 1 year. (2) The process of adaptation carried out by the community is not too difficult because the PLTB operation has not been too long. The community feels that there has not been a change that is too large so that the process of adapting is not too difficult. But it does not rule out the possibility after the PLTB has been operating for a long time, there will be changes that occur so that the community must adapt to adjust to its environment. Because if people remain silent in place and do not adapt to changes that are so fast, the community will be left behind in the current of modernization. (3) The social and cultural changes felt by the community are that they must be able to adjust to changes in livelihood, where they have no longer farmed. Then the people working on the fields belonging to other people who later landed were also converted to Makassar to find work. Next is the public's fear of a decline in agricultural production in Jeneponto Regency, if the agricultural land continues to function. Where the distribution of presentation of income from the regional income in agriculture ranks first with presentation of 51, 69% of regional income in Jeneponto Regency.

Abstract

This study aims to reveal the efforts of students and their families in the struggle to obtain education for the betterment of their destiny. researchers used a type of descriptive qualitative research. The selected informants were students and their parents who came from low-income backgrounds. The researchers collected data by means of observation, interviews and documentation. The results of the study show that there are: 1) Student strategies in continuing education, namely students registering for tertiary institutions with the choice of SNMPTN, SBMPTN and independent pathways, following suggestions from teachers regarding tips for college entrance exams, using social media to gain knowledge related to college exam material , carry out teaching practice as an entry requirement from the chosen major, and administer the bidikmisi program as payment assistance each semester. 2) Students try to carry out learning activities individually and in groups, keep working on class assignments and take part in activities outside the campus, having side jobs such as sewing and selling online. Even though he works, he still prioritizes education by completing college assignments first and then continuing his work. 3) The family's economy has decreased because they initially lacked the economy and for daily life they have to do their best to provide for the basic needs of the family and there are even among student families who have to seek loans from other people to be able to finance their family needs.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the history of local food made and known by the people in Pinang Village, Cendana District, Enrekang Regency, the traditional process of making dangke and its development, as well as the cultural value of dangke as local food. This research is a type of qualitative descriptive research. Data collection techniques were carried out using observation, interviews, and documentation. Based on the results of this study, it shows that: (1) The historical study of dangke is that the name "dangke" itself comes from Dutch when the Dutch officers patrolled the village of Curio, they were served dangke, as a guest of honor. The Dutch officers tasted the dish. After saying goodbye they said thank you for a very delicious meal, pronounced in Dutch “dank u well” as a thank you; (2) The traditional process of making dangke and developments to date is to take selected fresh dairy cow's milk, cook it on medium heat, add enough papaya latex and add a little salt, then stir until it forms lumps, after that the lumps are inserted into the coconut shell mold and pressed to form, after being removed from the mold then wrapped using selected banana leaves; and (3) Dangke is not only an ethnic identity of the people of Enrekang district but has cultural values ​​of local wisdom in it, namely abstinence from redundant nature, open to knowledge and closed from bad influences and as a symbol of respect and appreciation.
