Abstract

Urban livability is the extent to which urban settings promote the long-term contentment and well-being of inhabitants by guaranteeing environmental quality, safety, accessibility, and enough social infrastructure (housing, health, education, green space, and transportation). This study primarily aims to assess the Impact of Urban Congestion and Transport Inefficiencies on Urban Livability in Dhaka City with some other specifics such as exploring indicators of measuring urban livability, analyzing the interrelation between urban livability and transport and finding the challenges being associated with urban congestion and transport inefficiencies regarding urban livability. The study has been conducted in a qualitative manner where data has been collected from the secondary specifically online sources such as –books, journal articles, news portals, etc. The findings of the study reveal that urban congestion and transportation inefficiency impacts urban livability. As the population of Dhaka city is rapidly increasing so challenges, such as – inadequate transportation, absence of essential infrastructures, safety and security concerns, etc. also rising. Such congestion and transport inefficiency not only creates damage in terms of the economic side but also hampers public health. Additionally, overlapping responsibilities, inadequate planning of housing, paths and ways have been identified as challenges which create trouble for the lives of the inhabitants. Hence, this study tried to propose some recommendations to mitigate such challenges in order to improve the quality of life of the inhabitants of Dhaka city.

Abstract

This study critically appraises public participation in Makassar City's Musyawarah Perencanaan Pembangunan (Musrenbang), using Arnstein's Ladder of Citizen Participation and Gaventa's Power Cube as theoretical frameworks. The analysis reveals tokenistic participation patterns: community proposals increased significantly from 2,000 (2021) to 4,000 (2024), yet only 28% were incorporated into the 2024 RKPD. Five reinforcing constraints form a vicious "Power Trap": (1) national regulations lacking adoption quotas, (2) 60% of the municipal budget pre-allocated to strategic projects before deliberation, (3) siri' na pacce cultural norms encouraging self-censorship, (4) digital inequality with 67% of online proposals originating from urban core areas, and (5) limited community capacity for strategic proposals. Comparative analysis with neighboring Maros (45% realization) and Gowa (35%) reveals that decentralized deliberation outperforms Makassar's centralized metropolitan approach. The paper proposes a three-pillar "Power Bridge" reform framework: mayoral regulation mandating 40% adoption quota for non-strategic proposals, pre-Musrenbang publication of fixed priorities, and the "Speak Up" empowerment program combining digital inclusion and capacity-building. Expected targets for RKPD 2026 include 40% realization, 50% peripheral participation, and 25% strategic proposals. This research contributes an inclusive participation model applicable to metropolitan Indonesia, aligned with SDG 16's sustainable development objectives.

Abstract

Green Open Space (RTH) is a crucial element for supporting sustainable urban development and maintaining environmental balance. In Sukabumi City, the planning and provision of RTH continue to face considerable challenges amid rapid urbanization, despite the mandate of Law No. 26 of 2007 requiring 30% of the city area to consist of RTH. This study aims to analyze the factors driving development administration planning in the provision of RTH, focusing on regulatory, social, community participation, economic, environmental, and institutional aspects. Using a literature review method with a qualitative approach, this research identifies and synthesizes relevant findings regarding the dynamics of RTH planning. The results show that the city struggles with limited land availability, low levels of community participation, and budget constraints. To overcome these limitations, the study recommends strengthening regulatory frameworks, enhancing stakeholder collaboration, developing environmental education programs, and encouraging innovation in RTH management and funding. Overall, this analysis is expected to serve as a reference for policymakers in designing effective and sustainable strategies for RTH provision in Sukabumi City.

Abstract

The Nugraha Women Farmers Group (KWT) located in Selaawi Village, Sukaraja District, Sukabumi Regency, is a form of village women's institution engaged in the processing of agricultural products. Established in 2002 under the guidance of the Agricultural Extension Agency (BPP) of Sukaraja District, KWT consists of 32 women who are active in producing chips, selling rice, and managing various foods based on local agricultural products. This study aims to examine the role of KWT Nugraha in empowering women's economy through post-harvest activities, as well as identifying obstacles faced in the aspects of institutional development and member participation. The method used is a descriptive qualitative approach through interviews, observations, and documentation. The results of the study show that KWT Nugraha contributes to increasing household income and strengthening women's social solidarity. However, challenges still arise, such as the weak sustainability of coaching from extension workers, low business literacy, and lack of mastery of technology and market access. Group activities tend to be passive if they are not driven by administrators or external parties. This study recommends the need for strengthening the capacity of administrators, ongoing training, and support for village policies that favor women's economies based on local institutions.
