Abstract

Thalassemia is a congenital blood disorder caused by a deficiency globin chain production. Indonesia is one of the countries with a high frequency of thalassemia carriers. The government estimates that there will continue to be an increase of around 2.500 children/year. Efforts are needed to prevent the occurrence of thalassemia major, which can reduce the quality and welfare of children's lives through the communication of information and education both directly, videos and booklets, which is then followed by screening for the risk of thalassemia in teenagers at SMU Negeri 3 Jambi. This community service activity aims to increase community knowledge through teenagers, as well as identify the risk of thalassemia in teenagers to introduce early prevention of thalassemia and screen for the risk of thalassemia in the nation's next generation of teenagers. Implementing this service includes lectures, discussions, and education through video media and booklets for 60 students at General Senior High School Number 3 Jambi City, followed by routine blood tests to screen for genes carrying thalassemia. Evaluation of adolescent knowledge is known from the pretest and posttest results within three weeks. The Wilcoxon test results showed that KIE could increase the understanding of all teenagers from a pretest average of 32.75 to 79.12 (mean rank of 30.5). It is hoped that the role of teenagers as change agents is to be able to inform the people around them about thalassemia and how to prevent the occurrence of thalassemia in the next generation.

Abstract

Stunting instances persist in Suka Maju village, and there is a lack of a health disclosure program emphasizing the significance of 1000 HPK nutrition to avoid stunting. Additionally, there is a lack of projects to empower skilled young cadres. Teenagers have a crucial role in preventing stunting by being potential parents and catalysts for change, possessing extensive information about nutrition, and adopting healthy eating habits in their teenage years. This project aims to augment the involvement of young leaders and young individuals in understanding the significance of the initial 1000 days of life, with the aim of mitigating stunting in the hamlet of Suka Maju Kec. Mestong Kab. Muaro Jambi by the year 2023. The activity commenced with a survey of the location and an assessment of the needs of the partner areas, specifically the two villages and the surrounding regions. This was followed by the training of a group of six teenagers and 20 young adults. During the training, participants learned about the importance of using anthropometric methods to measure nutritional status, how to categorize nutritional status, how to properly use anthropometric tools, better health promotion strategies for teens about balanced nutrition, how to keep teens from having nutritional problems, and the role of teen leaders in stopping stunting. The training utilized effective instructional methods and empowered the cadres to plan and execute health promotion initiatives focused on preventing stunting and improving nutrition

Abstract

The neonatal period is the most critical period for the survival of a child. Based on data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), infant mortality under five years old in Indonesia reached 28,158 in 2020, while in Aceh in 2020 it was 8 per 1,000 live births with 792 cases of neonatal deaths and 49 cases originating from North Aceh. , with the most causes being pneumonia, namely 30 cases followed by diarrhea with 14 cases. Based on previous research, it was stated that the majority of mothers chose to take action/medication themselves when their children were sick, with the majority choosing to take them to health care facilities. The problem-solving method used in community service activities in Matang Puntong Village, Samudera Subdistrict, North Aceh Regency is to educate through presentations about danger signs for newborns and distributing leaflets and posters containing danger signs for newborns. The entire target audience, namely pregnant women in their third trimester, totaling 11 people attended the activity and there was an increase in the knowledge of the target audience for community service. It can be seen that in the pretest evaluation before participating in counseling activities 9% were in the good category and the post test evaluation score was 91% in the good category. It is important for health workers to continue to provide information about danger signs in newborns as an effort to increase mothers' knowledge so that they can immediately take action on the conditions that occur in their babies

Abstract

The global pandemic related to the coronavirus (2019-nCoV) continues to hit the world, including Indonesia until the end of 2021. The efforts to improve health services were carried out by various parties, including by members of the King of Christ Parish church as part of the Surabaya community. From this parish in July 2021, 301 people were sick with COVID-19 and almost 11% of them died. The public and health services were panicked by the occurrence of a wave of viral mutations, with the increasing of sufferers and high mortality rates. Integrated telemedicine services between doctors and pharmacists are one of the best options to prevent transmission and severity to support patient recovery rates. With telemedicine, health care needs are individualized and patient development is more controlled. The method was carried out through direct consultation between doctors, pharmacist, and patients, using the whatsapp call platform. Monitoring of patients was continued by pharmacist using the whatsapp message platform until the patient was cured. If necessary, consultation with the doctor could be carried out again during the patient’s healing process.  The research show that there is an integration of doctor and pharmacist services in telemedicine for COVID-19 patients in diagnosing, determining the best supporting drugs and therapies for the patients. Quantitatively, there was a decrease in the mortality rate, an increase in patient compliance and recovery. As an additional indicator, the residents welcome the integrated services that are carried out and can be developed for other health services.

Abstract

Covid-19 cases in children are a matter of concern. Children are one of the most vulnerable groups to be infected with Covid-19. Children with special needs with comorbidities, have a higher risk when they are exposed to Covid-19. The high mortality rate of Covid-19 in children in Indonesia can be caused because the child has a history of comorbidities and then contracted Covid-19. In addition, services for handling pediatric patients in a number of health facilities are still not optimal. A number of schools in various regions in Indonesia have started to organize limited face-to-face learning, namely using hybrid learning methods. Responding to this, the school must prepare and ensure the creation of a safe learning environment for children when they have to come to school, one way is by using masks properly and correctly. This community service activity was carried out at the SLB N Pembina Yogyakarta. The service method uses lecture, discussion and demonstration methods. The results achieved are the implementation of health counseling activities, the manufacture of pocket book media, and an increase in students' knowledge about how to use masks properly and correctly.

Abstract

One program that can be implemented by the community in an effort to improve family welfare, especially in the field of  food is the planting and utilization program of Family Medicinal Plants (TOGA). TOGA is a home-grown plant that has medicinal properties. TOGA planting can be done in pots or on land around the house. The Kelurahan Kenali Asam Bawah  is one of the Kelurahan in Kota Baru Subdistrict where the community in the region generally still has a large enough yard, so that the utilization and management of the environment can be optimized by planting TOGA. Based on field observations, the Dasawiwma group did not have a pilot family of medicinal plants. Some of them also do not understand the efficacy of TOGA scientifically. Therefore it is necessary to conduct socialization / counseling about the efficacy of TOGA so that people can have knowledge about the efficacy of TOGA. The target of this community service activity is the dasawisma group d RT 047 The target target is 10 people in one dasawima group especially in Kelurahan Kenali Asam Bawah. The aim of community service is expected after participating in the socialization of Dasawisma The group leader is able to understand and be willing to motivate his group members about the importance of planting TOGA. The results obtained with the procurement of plants and the socialization of the use of the TOGA 100% increased knowledge of the participants
