Abstract

This study aims to explore the effect of lighting on plant growth and development. Two different lighting conditions, namely bright and dark places, were selected as independent variables in this study. The samples used in this study were mung bean and corn (Phaseolus vulgaris) plants. The selection of mung bean and corn plants as samples was based on several considerations, including: Mung bean and corn plants are easy to plant and care for, so they are suitable for research that requires intensive observation over a certain period of time. The results of the study showed that plants placed in bright places showed better growth compared to plants placed in dark places. Plants in bright places had higher plant heights, more leaves, and greater leaf weight. This shows that sufficient lighting is an important factor in supporting plant gowth. The conclusion of this study is that lighting plays an important role in plant growth. Adequate lighting can increase photosynthesis, which in turn supports plant growth and development. This study provides insight into the importance of lighting in agriculture and can be a basis for further research on optimizing lighting conditions for optimal plant growth.

Abstract

This study investigates the growth differences between maize (Zea mays) and mung bean (Vigna radiata) when cultivated under light and dark conditions. The research aimed to understand the influence of light availability on the germination and early growth stages of these plants. A controlled experiment was conducted where both plants were grown under two conditions: full light exposure and complete darkness. Key growth parameters, including stem length, leaf development, and overall health, were measured over a set period. The results showed significant differences in growth patterns. Maize exhibited better growth under light conditions, with robust stem development and larger leaves, while mung beans demonstrated some adaptability to dark conditions, though with elongated stems and weaker structural integrity. These findings emphasize the role of light in plant growth and highlight species-specific adaptations to environmental conditions. This research provides insights into optimizing growth strategies for these crops in varying agricultural settings.

Abstract

The scheduling of plant cultivation that is efficient and sustainable is a crucial aspect of agriculture to maximize agricultural output and maintain environmental sustainability. This study proposes the use of mathematical optimization methods to design a planting schedule that not only considers production factors but also long-term sustainability. The developed model integrates variables such as water requirements, sunlight, soil type, and seasons to ensure optimal plant cultivation. In this research, linear programming techniques and heuristic search algorithms are used to determine the planting schedule that provides the best results, considering resource limitations and ecological impacts. The results of this optimization model show an increase in agricultural production efficiency and contribute to environmental preservation.

Abstract

This study developed a weighted matrix model to assist organic rice farmers in Desa Afia, Gunungsitoli City, in making more efficient and sustainable decisions. The model integrates key factors such as soil quality, climate, resource availability, and economic aspects.  Analysis results indicate that the model can identify optimal cultivation strategies that enhance crop yields and profitability while considering environmental sustainability. This model integrates various key factors that influence the productivity and sustainability of organic agriculture, including soil quality (pH, organic matter content, texture), climate conditions (rainfall, temperature, sunshine), resource availability (water, organic fertilizer, labor), and economic aspects (rice selling price, production costs). Analysis using this model demonstrates its ability to identify optimal cultivation strategies that can enhance crop yields and farmer profitability while minimizing negative environmental impacts.  These optimal strategies include selecting superior varieties, applying appropriate organic fertilization techniques, efficient water management, and integrated pest management. This research makes a significant contribution to the development of appropriate technology to support sustainable organic agriculture in the region and can be replicated in other areas with similar characteristics.

Abstract

Sustainable agriculture plays a key role in addressing global food security challenges. In this case, the application of technology is very important to increase efficiency and productivity in the agricultural sector. The aim of this research is to explore the application of various solutions, such as sensor-based monitoring systems, mobile applications for land management, and agricultural data analysis that can help farmers make more informed decisions. Research findings show that the use of technology not only contributes to increasing crop yields, but also optimizes the use of resources such as water and fertilizer, thereby encouraging more environmentally friendly agricultural practices. Thus, integration in sustainable agriculture can be an effective approach in achieving food security and sustainability goals.

Abstract

Pest management is one of the greatest challenges in agriculture, affecting crop yield and quality. To optimize pest control, the application of basic mathematical models can provide a more efficient, systematic approach to planning control strategies. This paper analyzes various basic mathematical models used in pest management, including models for pest population prediction and the dynamics of pest-plant interactions. Additionally, the study discusses the application of these models in designing control policies that minimize pest-related losses while considering environmental, economic, and technical factors. The results of the analysis show that the application of mathematical models can enhance pest management efficiency by providing data-driven guidance in determining the appropriate timing and type of intervention. This research aims to contribute to the development of more sustainable and evidence-based pest management strategies.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the optimal planting distance for increasing horticultural crop productivity. Through a comprehensive literature review, the research highlights the role of plant spacing in improving photosynthesis, nutrient uptake, and crop yield. Findings indicate that efficient spacing significantly enhances resource use efficiency, reduces competition among plants, and mitigates risks such as pest outbreaks and nutrient deficiencies. The study also emphasizes the use of precision agriculture technologies, such as GIS and IoT-based tools, to customize planting distances for various crops and environmental conditions. These insights are expected to contribute to sustainable agricultural practices that optimize land use while maintaining environmental balance.

Abstract

Emergency vegetable pesticides as an environmentally friendly solution for controlling pests and diseases in plants. This research aims to analyze the effectiveness of botanical pesticides made from neem (Azadirachta indica) and soursop leaf (Annona muricata) leaf extracts on pest populations, disease attack levels and plant productivity. The research was carried out experimentally with four treatments: P1 (neem extract), P2 (soursop extract), P3 (combination of neem and soursop), and P4 (control). The research results showed that combination treatment (P3) gave the best results with a reduction in pest populations reaching 80% and the intensity of disease attacks reduced by 75%. In addition, the P3 treatment also succeeded in increasing crop yields by 57% compared to the control. Thus, botanical pesticides have proven effective in controlling pests and diseases, while increasing plant productivity. These findings demonstrate the potential of botanical pesticides as a sustainable alternative in modern agricultural systems.   .

Abstract

Climate change significantly impacts biodiversity in tropical regions, known as areas with the highest biodiversity levels globally. Rising global temperatures, shifting rainfall patterns, and extreme weather events disrupt ecosystem stability, causing habitat degradation, population declines, and even extinction of endemic species. This study aims to examine the effects of climate change on tropical ecosystems and explore applicable mitigation and adaptation strategies. The analysis reveals that species in tropical regions are highly vulnerable to environmental changes due to their dependence on stable climatic conditions. Ecosystem-based conservation, habitat restoration, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions are essential steps to ensure the sustainability of tropical biodiversity. Collaborative efforts among governments, scientists, and communities are necessary to minimize the impacts of climate change on tropical biodiversity.
