Abstract

This research analyzes the relationship between Islamic bank financing and economic growth as measured by Gross Domestic Product (GDP) using the Vector Error Correction Model (VECM) to explain the short-term and long-term relationship dynamics between these two variables. The results of this research found that there is a long-term negative relationship between Islamic bank financing and GDP. These findings indicate that, although Sharia financing is expected to support economic growth through Sharia-based financial principles, the reality shows that the direct effect on overall economic growth is more complex and not always unidirectional. Apart from that, this research also finds that in the short term, both sharia financing and GDP adjust back to long-term balance after experiencing deviations, which means a strong economic correction mechanism exists. The stable VAR stability test results validate the model's reliability in describing the accurate relationship between sharia financing and economic growth in Indonesia. These findings provide important insights for policymakers and Islamic banking practitioners in developing more effective strategies to encourage inclusive economic growth.

Abstract

The high level of Muslim growth has resulted in increased spending by Muslims on sharia goods or services. One of them is the increase in demand for sharia financial institutions in 2020/2021, which can be seen from the increase in performance, namely 17 billion or the equivalent of 246% from the previous year. The aim of this research is to determine and analyze the influence of sharia financial institutions on economic growth in 10 Global Islamic Economy Index (GIEI) countries. This research uses a descriptive quantitative research approach with spatial analysis in 2017-2022. The results of this research show that in the short and long term there is spatial dependence on economic growth in the 10 Global Islamic Index (GIEI) countries. The results of the spatial regression analysis show that the independent variables that have a significant influence are the asset value of sharia banks, the value of sukuk assets and the value of takaful assets with spatially correlated values between regions. The asset value of sharia banks and sukuk has a positive effect, this is due to the implementation of the sharia system and the investment made by sharia banks and sukuk which can increase productivity and investment is dominated by sustainable development while takaful has a negative effect on economic growth, this is because most of the assets takaful is invested in the capital market and the public's literacy level regarding takaful is still low.

Abstract

Economic growth is an important indicator that reflects changes in a country's economic conditions toward a better state. Using a cash flow accounting approach, this study examines the effect of uncertainty in financial globalization and foreign direct investment on economic growth in Indonesia from 2019 to 2022. Indonesia's economic growth has fluctuated significantly during the COVID-19 pandemic, with a sharp decline in 2020 and recovery in 2021 and 2022. Global uncertainty and international conflicts, such as the Russia-Ukraine war, have also affected the global and domestic economies. Partial Least Square (PLS) analysis techniques and secondary time series data are used in this study’s quantitative methodology. The findings indicate that while foreign direct investment has a positive and considerable impact on economic growth, financial globalization uncertainty has no discernible impact on Indonesia’s economic growth. These result highlight the role that foreign investment plays in stimulating economic growth as well as the necessity of enacting laws that promote an environment that is favorable to investment. The cash flow accounting method offers a more thorough view of how foreign direct investment affects the domestic economy.

Abstract

This research explores the potential for developing coffee agro-tourism in West Lampung as a strategy to enhance the local economy while supporting sustainability. Although West Lampung is known as one of the top coffee producers in Indonesia, the development of agro-tourism in this region still faces various challenges, such as limited infrastructure, lack of promotion, and minimal community participation. By using a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach, this study aims to identify key factors influencing the success of coffee agro-tourism and provide recommendations to address these challenges. The study indicates that the development of coffee agro-tourism has the potential to improve the economic well-being of the community by increasing income, creating jobs, and preserving culture and the environment. Therefore, policies that support the strengthening of human resources, infrastructure development, effective promotion, and community involvement in the development of agro-tourism in West Lampung are needed. The results of this research are expected to serve as a reference for the government, local communities, and investors in designing more effective policies and programs for sustainable coffee agro-tourism development in this region.

Abstract

Financial literacy in Indonesia, especially in the context of sharia financial literacy, shows an alarming level. Financial literacy includes the ability to read, analyze, manage and communicate personal financial conditions. The World Bank survey places Indonesia in the third lowest ranking globally in terms of financial literacy, behind India and China. Data from the Financial Services Authority (OJK) shows that in 2013 and 2016, only around 21.84% and 29.66% of the Indonesian adult population had adequate financial literacy, with the figure among MSMEs even lower, namely 18.71%. An OJK webinar in 2022 revealed that the sharia economic literacy index had only reached 23.3%, far below the national financial literacy index of 49%. This imbalance highlights the need for broader educational efforts to increase public understanding of Islamic financial products. Even though financial education is the key to increasing literacy, in Indonesia, financial education is still rare in schools and universities. Developed countries have actively promoted financial education, while big challenges still exist in Indonesia. In the Islamic context, financial literacy also includes understanding muamalah maaliyah law to ensure halal and fair transactions. This research aims to explore and understand aspects of sharia financial literacy and inclusion through a qualitative approach, with observations and literature reviews in Bekasi Regency. It is hoped that this research can provide in-depth insights and recommendations to increase sharia financial literacy and inclusion more effectively.
