Abstract

Cosmetic products in the form of cream preparations containing antioxidant compounds have been developed to prevent premature aging of the skin. One of these plants is the gotu kola plant which can be used as a source of natural antioxidants. The active compounds contained in gotu kola leaves are flavonoids, alkaloids, saponins, tannins, triterpenoids, terpenoids which have been developed into dosage forms suitable for cream products. To determine the formulation of gotu kola leaf extract cream as an antioxidant. This research is experimental research. This experiment is based on extraction, formulation, preparation evaluation tests including organoleptic, pH, homogeneity, viscosity, spreadability, adhesive power. Then an antioxidant test was carried out. Statistical analysis was carried out using the ANOVA method. The research results show that gotu kola leaf extract can be formulated into cream preparations with various base variations that meet the requirements for good preparation evaluation. The antioxidant test results showed the IC50 FI value was 34.04 ppm, F2 30.27 ppm, F3 26.43 ppm. Statistical test results show significant antioxidant value, namely <0.05.

Abstract

Chinese betel is a weed plant that contains antibacterial compounds such as flavonoids, saponins, tannins, triterpenoids and alkaloids which are used as acne treatment therapy. The aim of the research is to obtain a serum with good inhibitory power from varying concentrations of 5%, 10% and 15%. , then a stability evaluation was carried out including organoleptic tests, homogeneity, pH, viscosity, spreadability and stickiness as well as testing for antibacterial activity against the growth of Staphyloccocus aureus. Data analysis was carried out using One-Way ANOVA. The results obtained from the stability test have good standards for organoleptics, homogeneity, pH, viscosity, spreadability and adhesion. Antibacterial testing showed that the diameter of the inhibition zone formed against Staphyloccocus aureus bacteria was 15.71 mm, 18.94 mm and 23.06 mm. Based on the results obtained, Chinese betel serum has good stability and all formulas can inhibit the growth of the acne-causing bacteria Staphyloccocus aureus as evidenced by the diameter of the inhibition zone formed which is in the very strong category

Abstract

One of the inflammatory diseases that occurs in the pilosebaceous unit is acne. One of the bacteria that causes acne is Propionibacterium acnes. Katuk leaves contain flavonoids, saponins, tannins and alkaloids which can be used as an acne treatment. One of the pharmaceutical preparations that can be used to treat acne is serum. The aim of this research is to formulate katuk leaf extract into a serum preparation, determine the physical quality characteristics of the serum preparation and then determine the antibacterial activity against Propionibacterium acnes.The research method used is experimental. Katuk leaves were extracted by maceration method with 70% ethanol then serum preparations were made with various extract concentrations, namely FI 40%, FII 60% and FIII 80% on the basis of serum xanthan gum. The physical quality test of the serum preparation including organoleptic, pH, homogeneity, spreadability, adhesion and viscosity was carried out, then the antibacterial activity test of Propionibacterium acnes was carried out with positive control of clindamycin 10 µg/disk, negative control of 5% DMSO using disc diffusion method. The results of this study indicate that the formula has a semi-solid form, the color of FI is brownish green, FII is dark green and FIII is blackish green with a distinctive aroma of the extract, the formulation is homogeneous, has a pH, spreadability, adhesion and viscosity that meets the requirements of a good serum. The results of the antibacterial activity test showed that the negative control had no inhibition zone, the positive control showed a strong inhibition zone of 20.09 and the katuk leaf extract serum formulation had a moderate inhibition zone of FI 18.11, FII 19.21 and FIII 19.36 the greater the inhibition zone produced due to the higher concentration of the extract made. The results of statistical analysis of variations in extract concentrations showed significant differences in the inhibition zone based on One Way Anova statistical analysis (p<0.05).

Abstract

Facial wash or what is usually called facial cleansing soap is the first step to preventing acne (Movita, 2013). This research aims to formulate a facial wash preparation of sweet starfruit leaf extract (Averrhoa carambola L.) with good physical quality evaluation and the potential to inhibit the growth of Staphylococcus epidermidis bacteria. Sweet starfruit leaf powder (Averrhoa carmbola L.) was extracted using the maceration method and with 70% ethanol solvent. The resulting thick extract is tested for chemical content, ethanol free and specific gravity of the extract. Next, an evaluation of the preparation was carried out and an antibacterial activity test was carried out on a facial wash preparation of sweet star fruit leaf extract (Averrhoa carambola L.) with an extract concentration of FI 30%, FII 40%, FIII 50%, using the diffusion method, paper discs, Mueller Hinton Agar media. The results of this research show that starfruit leaf extract (Averrhoa carmbola L.) can be made into a good facial wash preparation and contains alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, tannins and triterpenoids, which can act as antibacterials. In facial wash preparations, sweet starfruit leaf extract (Averrhoa carmbola L.) produces good physical quality and can inhibit Staphylococcus epidermidi bacteria at FI of 13.503mm±0.580, FII of 38.026mm±4.34 and FIII of 42.51mm±3.178. This shows that the higher the concentration of sweet starfruit leaf extract, the higher the inhibitory power produced

Abstract

White turi is a plant that contains active substances that act as antibacterials, including saponins, flavonoids and tannins which can inhibit the growth of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. Currently, the use of natural ingredients in cosmetic preparations has been developed. One of the cosmetic preparations that has developed recently is serum. This study aims to determine the antibacterial activity of serum 70% ethanol extract of white turi leaves (Sesbania grandiflora L) against Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. This research method is experimental research. White turi leaves were extracted using the maceration method with 70% ethanol solvent. The 70% ethanol extract of white turi leaves was made into serum with a concentration of 2%, 4%, 8% and the physical quality was evaluated including organoleptic tests, homogeneity, pH, spreadability, viscosity and the antibacterial activity of the serum was tested using the paper disk diffusion method. The results of the research on the formulation of the serum preparation are brownish yellow in color, have a distinctive odor of 70% ethanol extract of white turi leaves and are slightly thick, homogeneous, with a pH value = 5.65-5.86, spreadability = 5.3-6.33, viscosity = 341.66-466.46 and the inhibition zone for antibacterial activity of formula 1 is 9.48 mm (medium), formula 2 is 12.50 mm (strong) and formula 3 is 14.46 mm (strong). Based on the results obtained, it can be concluded that all serum formulas of 70% ethanol extract of white turi leaves can inhibit the growth of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria in the medium-strong category and the serum formula of 70% ethanol extract of white turi leaves (Sesbania grandiflora L) has the best activity on growth. Staphylococcus aureus bacteria is formula 3 with a concentration of 8% with an inhibition zone of 14.46 mm (strong).

Abstract

Gotu kola leaves (Centella asiatica (L.) Urban) are wild plants that grow in various places such as fields, plantations and in yards. Gotu kola leaves contain compounds such as polyphenols, β-carotene, tannins, vitamin C and saponins such as Madecassida and Asiaticoside. The asiaticoside found in gotu kola functions as an antioxidant that can capture free radicals. Objective: To determine the 70% ethanol extract of gotu kola leaves (Centella asiatica (L.) Urban) as a hair tonic as an antioxidant using different concentration variants. Method: This research is an experimental study by testing the antioxidant activity of a hair tonic preparation of gotu kola leaf extract (Centella asiatica (L.) Urban) in a hair tonic preparation on antioxidants using the DPPH 2,2 diphenyl-1-pikeylhydrazyl method. The 70% ethanol extract of gotu kola leaves was obtained using the maceration method with 70% ethanol solvent where the thick extract obtained was tested for its compound content. Then the extract with a concentration of 5ml, 10ml, 15ml was made into a hair tonic preparation after which it was tested for physical quality, organoleptic test, homogeneity test, pH test , viscosity test, specific gravity test. Vitamin C as a positive control and hair tonic base as a negative control. After obtaining comparisons, the data were processed statistically using ANOVA. Results: This research shows that the 70% ethanol extract of gotu kola leaves (Centella asiatica (L.) Urban) contains the chemical compounds triterpenoids, flavonoids, saponins, alkaloids and tannins. All hair tonic formulations have antioxidant activity based on the IC50 value. The statistical test results show that there is a significant difference in antioxidant activity, namely (p<0.05).

Abstract

Aging causes the skin to become wrinkled. The cause of aging is free radicals, free radicals in the form of UV-A rays. Bay leaf (Syzygium polyanthum) is a plant that contains flavonoid compounds which can act as antioxidants which can provide anti-aging activity. This test was carried out to find out that bay leaf extract gel was able to provide anti-aging activity. Methodology; The bay leaf extract was tested to be ethanol free and the chemical compound content was identified. The gel preparation was made using bay leaf extract with a concentration of 1.5%, 3%, 4.5%, which was tested for stability including organoleptic test, homogeneity test, pH test, adhesive test, viscosity test, and spreadability test and tested for anti-aging activity. includes percent collagen, percent elasticity, percent moisture.Results; The results of the FI, FII, and FIII gel stability tests meet the requirements for gel preparations including: pH test, viscosity test, adhesion test, and spreadability test. The results of testing the anti-aging activity of the bay leaf extract gel preparation with a concentration of 4.5% provided the most effective anti-aging effect. Conclusion; The results of the FI, FII, and FIII bay leaf extract gel tests had good stability. anti-aging activity test of bay leaf extract gel preparation with a concentration of 4.5% provided the most effective anti-aging effect.

Abstract

Improper use of antibiotics will cause resistance in bacteria so that other alternatives are needed such as the use of avocado plants as antibacterial plants. To determine the antibacterial activity of avocado leaf ethanol extract on the growth of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. Laboratory experimental research to see the antibacterial activity of ethanol extract and avocado leaf fractions with concentrations of 15%, 20% and 25%. Antibacterial activity tests were carried out using the disk diffusion method against Staphylococcus aureus and comparing the inhibition zones formed from each treatment with the positive control, namely Tetracycline. The inhibition power obtained was then analyzed using the One Way Anova statistical method. The content of 70% avocado leaf ethanol extract compounds consists of flavonoids, saponins, tannins, alkaloids and terpenoids. Face toner preparation of 70% ethanol extract of avocado leaves F1 (15%) has 11.5mm, F2 (20%) has 15.7 mm and F3 (25%) has 21.4% antibacterial activity against the growth of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. Formula 3 with a concentration of 25% with an inhibition zone of 21.4 mm has the most optimal antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. The most optimal avocado leaf face toner preparation as an antibacterial activity for Staphylococcus aureus is a concentration of 25%.

Abstract

Avocado (Persea americana Mill) is a fruit that is popular with many people, because it contains various nutrients. However, the use of avocados is not accompanied by the use of the seeds. Avocado seeds are usually used as antioxidants. Antioxidants are substances that the body needs to neutralize free radicals and prevent damage caused by free radicals. The aim of this research was to determine the antioxidant activity of avocado seed extract (Persea americana Mill) using the DPPH method. Avocado seed extract was extracted by soxhletation with different solvents 70% ethanol, n-hexane, and ethyl acetate. The extract obtained was identified for chemical compound content. Test antioxidant activity using the DPPH method to determine a good IC50 value. Based on the research results, the antioxidant test with different solvents that obtained a good IC50 value was n-hexane solvent with an IC50 value of 2.14µg/ml. The conclusion of the research is that good antioxidant test results with n-hexane solvent obtained an IC50 value of 2.14µg/ml, the lower the IC50 value, the higher the antioxidant.

Abstract

Dragon fruit skin contains compounds that can be useful as antioxidants such as betalain and anthocyanin. The amount of high antioxidant content of red dragon fruit skin is able to slow, delay, or prevent the occurrence of free radical reaction processes that make humans experience premature aging. Face mist temasuk in cosmetic skin freshener that serves to refresh the facial skin, remove the remaining oil from the skin that may still exist, as well as deinfekta mild and at the same time can help cover the pores back. This study was conducted to develop red dragon fruit skin extract (Hylocereus polyrhizus) Face mist preparation as an antioxidant with a variant concentration of red dragon fruit skin extract (Hylocereus polyrhizus).Red dragon fruit skin extract (Hylocereus polyrhizus) using maceration extraction process, then extract with concentration variants 1%, 2%, 3% prepared face mist. Vitamin C as positive control and base face Mist as negative control. After obtained comparison of data processed statistically with one-way ANOVA using SPSS 22.Face mist preparation red dragon fruit skin extract (Hylocereus polyrhizus) has antioxidant activity.3% concentration of face mist preparation red dragon fruit skin extract (Hylocereus polyrhizus) contains the highest antioxidant.
