Abstract

The development of preschool-aged children starts from the age of 3-6 years; not all children can pass through the developmental stages well, which is why the development of preschool-aged children is an important aspect to pay attention to. 15-20% of preschool-aged children suffer from fine motor development disorders. This study aims to determine how the application of finger painting therapy activities affects 3-year-old children with fine motor development deviations at the Cimahi Selatan Health Center. The case study method used in this research employs a descriptive design. Data collection was carried out through observation and interviews, as well as the Pre-Screening Development Questionnaire (KPSP) and fine motor assessment instruments. Deviations in fine motor development in preschool-aged children can hinder their ability to perform daily activities, such as writing and drawing. Finger painting therapy is a form of play therapy that can stimulate the development of children's fine motor skills. The results for An.H, with deviations in fine motor skill development before being given finger painting therapy according to the KPSP results, were doubtful (M) with a score of 1. After being given finger painting therapy, the results were appropriate (S) with a score of 3, indicating an improvement in An.H's fine motor skills. The results of this case study show a significant improvement in An.H's fine motor skills after continuous finger painting therapy, with a final score of 83.3% (very good). This study shows that finger painting therapy for preschool- aged children can enhance the development of fine motor skills and is effective in improving hand- eye coordination, as well as increasing the child's functional abilities in daily activities.

Abstract

Maternal mortality and morbidity in hospitals mostly occur in preventable cases. The early warning system, as one of the prevention efforts based on clinical findings, has not been implemented comprehensively. The large number of incomplete data and the inconsistency of the early warning system escalation are the basis for the development of electronic technology solutions. With an electronic system, it is expected that management can be carried out earlier, preventing life-threatening conditions because patients will be treated faster so that the expected output is better. Objective: This study aims to analyze the differences in the completeness of data entry and the appropriateness of the early warning system escalation before and after the digitalization of EWS and MEWS in the Alamanda Room of Dr. Hasan Sadikin Hospital, Bandung. Method: This study is a quantitative study using a pre-experimental design with a one-group pre-post test approach. The sampling technique with a total sampling of 648 datas, both before and after digitalization. Secondary data was taken from all data from the results of the filling responses that had been collected. Data analysis used univariate frequency distribution analysis and bivariate analysis using the Chi-Square and Fisher's Exact tests. Results: Based on the results of the study, it was found that according to the hospital's Standard Operating Procedure, the completeness of EWS data filling after the intervention increased to 97.2%, the appropriate EWS data escalation after the intervention became 56.61%. MEWS data also increased after the intervention to 91.2%, the appropriate MEWS data escalation after the intervention became 63.6%. The results of the bivariate data analysis showed a significant difference in the completeness of data filling and the appropriateness of escalation before and after digitalization with a p-value of 0.000. Conclusion: Digitalization can improve the completeness of data filling based on SOP and the appropriateness of the hospital's early warning system escalation. The appropriateness of escalation and rapid clinical response has an impact on the quality of maternal care, patient safety, and the quality of hospital services.

Abstract

Down Syndrome is a genetic disorder in which there is an extra chromosome on chromosome 21. This extra chromosome results in excessive amounts of certain proteins, which can interfere with the body's normal growth and cause changes in brain development. This case study report aims to determine the effect of physiotherapy intervention with Neuro Developmental Treatment (NDT) on improving motor skills in Down Syndrome children. This case study report was carried out in the children's growth and development clinic at the hospital Dustira Cimahi on January 15 2024 to February 1 2024. The intervention used is Neuro Development Treatment through a stimulation and facilitation approach. The results of the Early Growth and Development Detection examination from T1 to T6 showed increased developmental achievements in aspects of fine motor skills, observation and speech. The evaluation results of the Gross Motor Functional Measurement examination showed a total score at T1: 11% and T6: 18%, there was an increase in gross motor skills of 7%. Conclusion: Intervention using Neuro Development Treatment is a therapy that has been proven to be effective in improving the motor skills of Down Syndrome children.

Abstract

Asthma is a heterogeneous disease that is usually characterized by chronic inflammation of the respiratory tract. characterized by a history of respiratory symptoms such as wheezing, shortness of breath, tightness in the chest, and coughing whose intensity varies from time to time and limited exhaled air flow, apart from that, asthma is often encountered in childhood at school age 6-12 years. WHO and the Global Asthma Network (GAN), the world asthma organization, estimate that by 2025, the number of asthma sufferers will increase by 400 million and cause 250,000 deaths (WHO, 2023). The Ministry of Health noted that by the end of 2020, asthma will be one of the most common diseases affecting Indonesian society, covering 4.5% of Indonesia's total population (more than 12 million people). In 2019, WHO estimates that the number of asthma sufferers will reach 235 million people, representing 1-18% of the world's population (Aufa et al., 2023). The pursed lips breathing exercise is a way to position pursed lips. This technique increases alveolar pressure in each lung lobe, thereby increasing air flow during expiration and improving oxygen status (Oktaviani et al., 2021). The Pursed lips breathing technique is carried out for 15 minutes with 5 inhales and 5 exhales, with a 2 second pause between cycles. Significant differences in oxygen status were observed before and after lip breathing. The pursed lips breathing technique has been proven to be a non-pharmacological therapy that can be used routinely to improve oxygen status in children with asthma, thereby optimizing lung mechanical function (Oktaviani et al., 2021). From this research, it can be concluded that non-pharmacological therapy using the pursed lips breathing technique succeeded in increasing oxygen saturation significantly every day. The results of the study showed that the development of the respiratory system increased after being given pursed lips breathing therapy. Assessment of the development of respiration and Spo2 before applying PLB respiration was 35x/minute, Spo2 89% and after applying PLB respiration became 28x/minute, Spo2 97%. This means that applying PLB by inhaling air from the nose and exhaling through the mouth with the mouth closed is very effective in increasing oxygen saturation and improving respiration in 12 year old school aged An.S.

Abstract

The prevalence of stroke at Dustira Hospital is 124 people. Stroke is a sudden neurological function deficit caused by a disturbance in cerebral blood circulation. One of its signs and symptoms is swallowing disorder. If swallowing exercises are not performed, complications such as aspiration pneumonia may occur. Swallowing exercises are a type of therapy designed to improve swallowing ability by focusing on strengthening muscles and enhancing the coordination of nerves and muscles involved in the swallowing process. This case study uses a descriptive method to illustrate nursing care for stroke patients experiencing swallowing disorders. The instruments used include the standard operating procedure for swallowing exercises and an observation sheet before and after the exercises. The assessment results showed that the patient had difficulty moving the tongue to the right, left, and upward, impaired swallowing reflexes, slurred speech, and frequent choking while eating or drinking, leading to the nursing diagnosis of swallowing disorder. Swallowing exercises were conducted three times a day for seven days, with each session lasting 30 minutes. The evaluation of this case showed that the swallowing disorder initially had a swallowing reflex score of 3 (moderate), which improved to 4 (fair improvement) after the intervention. It is concluded that swallowing exercises can improve the swallowing reflex in stroke patients with swallowing disorders. It is hoped that these exercises can be applied by hospitals, patients, and families independently.
