Abstract

There has been a significant change in the Church as a communio since the secondVatican Council ( 1962-1965). The Council seemed to instigate a mode of doing theology with liberal overtone. New ways of looking at things had been shown quite impressively by the Church ever since. Indeed “Ecclesia semper reformanda”. This, however, is not the whole story, for in the case like contraception, and worse still, on magisterium in general, it turns out that the Church hardly changes. The dilemma has brought about many problems, practically as well as theologically. This article talks about the dilemma.

Abstract

Abstract

Makin menjadikan kita, manusia.

Abstract

With the death of Pierre Bourdieu in 2002, the world has lost its mostpassionate and authoritative sociologist. Although politically Bourdieu was always on the Left, the early 1990s marked a sharp turn of his writings. Sickened by the tendency of Mitterrand's government in leaning to the Right, Bourdieu had become increasingly bolder and audacious in criticizing globalization and neoliberalism. What made him more frustrated was the fact that neoliberalism at least in France some other European countries was installed by those who claim to be socialist enthusiasts. In his last years, Bourdieu unleashed a volley of blistering attacks on conformism of both the media and intellectuals toward neoliberalism. His only hope was to contrive a global social movement This paper tries to show how  important Bourdieu's critical perspective on neoliberalism in our attempt to understand the impact of globalization. It argues that Bourdieu's attack on neoliberalism and demand for a global social movement can help us to get a better understanding of globalization and antiglobalizationmovements.

Abstract

Ever since the nineteenth century, the Church has redefined and repositioned her role concerning social conditions and problems of the secular world. Her concern and engagement are rooted in her very self-definition as the People of God and the Sacrament of Salvation. The definition calls for her involvement in the world so as to transformthe world into the anticipation of the Kingdom of God. The article traces the theological foundation of suchconviction, the authority of the church for such involvement, the normative teaching of Jesus himself and the primacy of solidarity.

Abstract

The second Vatican Council envisions a Church as a servant for the actualization of the Kingdom of God in the world. Against this background, we need to reappraise our understanding of the world and its relation to the Church, as well as the “status” and the roles of clergy,Religious and laity.

Abstract

The lack of priests in some dioceses in Indonesia has become a constant problem due to the dearth of candidates for the clergy. This situation  cannot be overcome if the diocesan Bishop of the mentioned dioceses would con-tinue to entrust parochial ministries only to the ordained  ministers. A question then could be raised: Can parochial ministry be entrusted to a lay person? This is a fundamental question because this is not just a case of maximizing the participation of the laity in handling parochial ministries, but also a question about the legality of allowing the laity to handle parochial ministry. Canon 517 § 2 provides the possibi-lity of entrusting the pastoral care of a parish to a person other than priest. For the purpose of this study, I focuse on the person of lay cate-chists due to their specific preparation for such important service. By virtue of law and given by the parti-cular condition of some dioceses in Indonesia as well as their personal capability, some of lay cathecists should be appointed as parochial administrators by the diocesan Bishop given the needs of the people and the place.
