Abstract

Anemia is still a health problem, especially in developing countries, an estimated 30% of the world's population suffers from anemia, especially adolescent girls. Many factors cause anemia such as lack of iron, folic acid and vitamin B12, abnormal menstrual cycles, food management and the body's need for iron. To find out the factors that cause anemia in young women, research was conducted on the description of knowledge and factors that influence the occurrence of anemia. The research method used was descriptive to determine the description of the factors that influence anemia.  The population in this study was 229 people, the sample was 35 people, the sampling technique was random sampling, the instrument for measuring knowledge used a questionnaire, the data collected was analyzed univariately.  The results showed that the majority of 21 people (60%) had sufficient knowledge of young women, (14.28%) had good knowledge, 9 people (25.71%) had poor knowledge.  32 people (91.4%) of young women did not consume blood supplement tablets and only 3 people (8.57%) consumed blood supplement tablets regularly. Lack of compliance among teenagers in consuming blood-added tablets makes it possible for teenagers to feel that they do not experience symptoms of anemia and when consuming blood-added tablets they feel nauseous, the medicine smells fishy.  The conclusion of the research is that the picture of adolescent girls regarding anemia is due to the knowledge factor so that the level of adherence of adolescents to consuming blood supplement tablets is low, it is necessary to provide continuous education and check Hb levels regularly.

Abstract

Ejection Fraction (EF) is a parameter for assessing the heart's ability to pump blood throughout the body. Currently, ultrasound is frequently used to detect EF values, but it has limitations such as poor acoustic window and operator dependency. Cardiac Magnetic Resonance (CMR) examination has advantages in providing accurate EF values with two measurement methods: Short Axis and Long Axis view. This study aims to determine the accuracy of left ventricular ejection fraction values in CMR examination using short axis and long axis view methods compared to echocardiography. Method: descriptive quantitative research design on EF calculation conducted at radiology installation in Jakarta hospital from July-October 2022 with 33 patient samples. Data were obtained through observation and measurement using CVI 42 software on 1.5T GE Signa Voyager MRI device. Results: The average EF percentage on LVEF-EC measurement method was 41%, LVEF-SA 40%, and LVEF-LA 43%. The accuracy showed EC-SA average difference of 0.939 with 3% percentage and EC-LA average difference of 1.812 with 5% percentage. Conclusion: Short axis method is more accurate compared to long axis, thus can be used as standard procedure for CMR examination to provide quality diagnostic services.

Abstract

Humerus fracture is a disruption of the continuity of the humerus bone accompanied by soft tissue damage. Radiographic examination is essential for documenting and determining the extent of fractures. This study aims to determine the radiological examination procedures for humerus fractures and radiation protection efforts at the Radiology Installation of Efarina Etaham Hospital, Berastagi, Karo Regency. This is a qualitative descriptive study using secondary data collection methods through observation, physical examination, and documentation study. The subject was a 37-year-old male patient with a diagnosis of 1/3 distal humerus fracture. Radiographic examination was performed using AP (Anteroposterior) projection with exposure factors of 65 kVp, 160 mA, and 0.6 seconds, using a 24x30 cm cassette at 100 cm FFD. The results showed that the PA projection effectively visualized the fracture while providing patient comfort and reducing the risk of aggravating the injury. However, radiation protection for patients was not optimal as protective aprons could not be used to avoid interfering with the radiographic image. It is concluded that the radiographic technique applied can produce optimal diagnostic images, but radiation protection aspects need improvement, especially regarding the use of collimation and proper field size management

Abstract

X-ray tube voltage is one of the exposure factors that significantly influence the quality of radiographic images. The use of standard versus high voltage can impact the contrast and sharpness of thoracic radiographic images. This study aims to determine the effect of variations in tube voltage in thoracic examinations on radiographic image quality. This experimental study was conducted at Efarina Hospital, Pangkalan Kerinci, using a Toshiba X-ray machine model DRX-1824B. Irradiation was carried out using standard voltage (50-70 kV) and high voltage (90-110 kV) with a distance of 100 cm and a time of 10 mAs. Image quality was analyzed using Image-J software with a histogram feature. Standard voltage (50 kV) produced good radiographic image quality with clear histogram readings, showing the black background position from 16 to 36 and the object position from 37 to 79, allowing clear differentiation between the object edge and the background. High voltage (90 kV) results in reduced contrast, with a dominant grayscale gradient from positions 10 to 132, making objects and background indistinguishable. Standard tube voltage provides better radiographic image quality than high voltage for thoraxt examinations.
