Abstract

Halal certification plays a crucial role in enhancing economic competitiveness forcountries with substantial Muslim populations, and Indonesia is making significant efforts tostrengthen its standing in the rapidly expanding global halal market. This study exploresrecent policy reforms within Indonesia's halal certification framework and examines theirimplications for the country's competitiveness and access to international markets. Through aqualitative analysis of regulatory updates, government policy initiatives, and industry data, the research assesses changes in certification procedures, implementation strategies, andsectoral developments influencing market access. The findings highlight that recentgovernment policy reforms have markedly streamlined certification processes, expandedopportunities for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), and reduced barriersthrough initiatives like the SEHATI program, which provides free certification for select non- critical product categories. These efforts have improved operational efficiency, encouragedbroader MSME participation, and facilitated Indonesia's growth into halal sectors beyondfood, including pharmaceuticals and cosmetics. Evidence of export growth and an enhancedinternational presence further reflect these positive developments in market access. Nonetheless, challenges remain in fully aligning Indonesia's certification system withinternational halal standards, managing certification costs, and boosting competitiveness inemerging halal industries. Continued refinement of regulations, deeper harmonization withglobal standards, and strengthened institutional support for MSMEs are essential forIndonesia to seize new opportunities within the global halal economy and sustain itsleadership role.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic has become a cause for concern not only in Indonesia but also in various other countries. The Covid-19 pandemic has been the root cause of significant changes in various aspects, especially in the digital field, and has triggered the acceleration of digital banking transformation from a physical economy to a virtual economy. Digital banking transformation in Indonesia presents various opportunities and challenges and supports the creation of collaboration. This study aims to analyze the opportunities, challenges, and collaborations in the digital banking transformation. The research was conducted using a qualitative approach with a focus on literature review and the collection of the latest news and digital banking practices as supporting data. The results of the study show that digital banking transformation opens up great opportunities for banks to improve effectiveness, efficiency, and productivity as well as innovative services by looking at digital opportunities, digital behavior, and digital transactions that are growing. In addition to creating opportunities, digital banking transformation certainly has challenges such as data leaks, strategic risks that can lead to cost waste, rampant cyber attacks, lack of organizational readiness in terms of human resources, data leak risks that still occur, misuse of technology such as AI for malicious purposes, weak supervision of third parties or outsourcing, uneven communication network infrastructure between regions, and a regulatory framework that is still slow to be adapted by industry players. In addition to opportunities and challenges, digital banking transformation supports collaboration between banks and non-bank financial institutions, fintech, and bigtech to create better, more inclusive, and more efficient financial services. The conclusion of this study is that digital banking transformation requires the right strategy, good risk management, and support for collaboration.

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of new technology adoption on production costs and the supply curve in the manufacturing industry. Using a quantitative approach, panel data from 50 manufacturing companies were collected over a 5-year period (2020-2024). The main variables analyzed were technological investment (proxy: expenditure on R&D and automation machinery), production cost per unit, and supply volume. The findings indicate that investment in new technology significantly lowers production costs per unit (p<0.05). This reduction enables firms to increase the supply volume at any given price level, which is the fundamental mechanism behind the observed rightward shift of the supply curve. This study provides empirical evidence that technological innovation is a key driver of economic efficiency and production capacity growth, ultimately enhancing a firm's market competitiveness.

Abstract

This research examines the dual role of State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) as business entities and agents of national development. The study analyzes how SOEs balance profit orientation with social responsibility in carrying out their function as state instruments in economic development. Through a literature review approach and document analysis of several SOEs in Indonesia, the research reveals the dynamic relationship between commercial objectives and social missions. The results indicate that SOEs face dilemmas in balancing business efficiency with public service obligations, while corporate governance emerges as a key factor in optimizing both roles. The research concludes that clear regulatory frameworks and effective monitoring mechanisms are necessary to ensure SOEs can optimally fulfill their dual functions.

Abstract

This study analyzes consumer perceptions of digital halal certification for MSME products and its impact on purchasing decisions. The research method uses a quantitative approach with survey techniques to 385 Muslim consumers in Central Java. The results show that 73.2% of respondents have positive perceptions of digital halal certification for MSMEs. The main factors influencing consumer perceptions include ease of digital verification (78.5%), trust in certification institutions (71.8%), and level of understanding of the certification process (69.3%). Regression analysis shows that positive perceptions of digital halal certification significantly influence purchasing decisions with a coefficient of determination value of 0.652. This research contributes to MSMEs in understanding consumer preferences for digital halal-certified products and their implications for marketing strategies.

Abstract

Circular economy has become an alternative model in addressing household waste problems through the development of SMEs in small cities. This research analyzes the implementation of circular economy concepts in household waste processing SMEs with case studies in three small cities in Central Java. Qualitative methods with a case study approach were used to collect data through interviews and observations of 15 waste banks and waste processing SMEs. The results showed that the implementation of a circular economy in SMEs resulted in an average income increase of 45% in the 2022-2024 period and waste volume reduction of up to 60%. The business models developed include collection, sorting, processing, and marketing of recycled products. However, constraints were found in terms of access to capital, technology, and marketing. This research provides theoretical contributions in developing small-scale circular economy models and policy recommendations to support waste management SMEs.

Abstract

This study analyzes the role of Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDes) as entrepreneurship incubators in rural areas of Indonesia. Using qualitative and quantitative methods, this research examined 15 BUMDes in West Java, Central Java, and East Java from 2022-2024. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with 45 respondents, participatory observation, and document analysis. Results show that BUMDes play a significant role in fostering entrepreneurial spirit among village communities through providing capital access, business training, and business mentoring. Of the 65,941 BUMDes registered nationally, 75.8% are actively operating and have created 142,000 new jobs. BUMDes functioning as entrepreneurship incubators increased village income by an average of 35% and reduced village poverty rates by up to 12%. This research contributes to rural entrepreneurship theory development and provides policy recommendations for optimizing BUMDes function as village economic drivers.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze scientific publication trends related to the Human Development Index (HDI) in Indonesia using a bibliometric approach. Data analysis covered author distribution, institutional affiliation, subject area, country of publication, and keyword mapping visualized through VOSviewer. The findings indicate that the most active contributors are from Universitas Gadjah Mada and Universitas Indonesia, with dominant research areas including medicine, social sciences, and economics. Indonesia leads in publication output, followed by Malaysia and China. Keyword mapping reveals three major clusters: health-related terms (obesity, epidemiology, body mass index), socio-economic themes (human development index, poverty, sustainable development), and demographic aspects (human, adult, covid-19). Overall, the study concludes that HDI research in Indonesia adopts a multidisciplinary perspective, highlighting the strong interconnection between health, social, and economic dimensions in advancing human development.
