Abstract

This study aims to analyze the use of Instagram social media in the religious activities of the Nurur Rahmah Taklim Assembly and its impact on social change within the congregation and the surrounding community. The development of digital technology has encouraged religious institutions to adapt to new media as a means of preaching and disseminating Islamic values. This study uses a qualitative approach with descriptive methods, through data collection techniques such as observation, interviews, and documentation of Instagram account managers and members of the Nurur Rahmah Taklim Assembly. The results show that Instagram is used as an effective da'wah medium through uploading short sermons, quotations from the Quran and hadith, information on religious activities, and documentation of the activities of the Taklim Assembly. The use of Instagram can increase congregational participation, expand the reach of Islamic outreach, and strengthen social interactions between administrators and followers of religious study groups, both online and offline. Furthermore, the use of social media contributes to social change, such as increased religious awareness, changes in religious communication patterns, and the formation of more open and inclusive religious communities. Thus, Instagram plays a crucial role as a supporting medium for religious activities that are relevant to the needs of society in the digital age.

Abstract

Islamic Religious Education (IRE) plays a strategic role in shaping the mindset, attitudes, and behavior of society based on Islamic values, including in terms of maintaining health and treatment. One important aspect that is often overlooked in IRE studies is the introduction to the concept of Thibbun Nabawi or the Prophet's medicine. This study aims to analyze how Islamic religious education contributes to increasing public awareness and understanding of the values of medicine taught by the Prophet Muhammad SAW, as well as how it is implemented in everyday life. The research method used is library research with a descriptive qualitative approach, which examines various Islamic literature, hadith, and relevant scientific works. The results of the study show that Islamic religious education not only plays a role in shaping spiritual piety, but also serves as an important instrument in fostering holistic awareness of the importance of physical and spiritual health. Through the integration of Thibbun Nabawi material into the curriculum, lectures, and da'wah activities, the community has gained a better understanding that maintaining health is part of worship and a divine mandate. Values such as balance, cleanliness, consumption of halal and thayyib food, as well as prayer-based and herbal medicine, can strengthen the community's paradigm of the Prophet's medicine as a solution. Thus, Islamic religious education plays a significant role in internalizing the Prophet's teachings on health into the culture of Muslims in a sustainable manner.

Abstract

This research focuses on implementing digital media for Islam’s green economy and greenwashing. The research focuses on the decolonization of environmental communications. Using content from the three of the most prominent platforms Kompas.com, Detik.com, and TimesIndonesia.co.id and using the interpretive paradigm, purposive sampling of 45 articles from 2022-2024 on each platform disentangles the empirical evidence in the sustainability and greenwashing discourse in acting and using Islamic ethical concepts in the persuasive framework and communication of khalifah, mīzān, maqāṣid al-sharīʿah, and sadd al-dharīʿah. The ethical, albeit fractured, mediation of legitimizing the articulation of green and sustainable ethics is the function of the platforms. Kompas.com is Critical–Reformist in its jurisprudential orientation and Detik.com from within a social construct of ethical individualized responsibility, while Times from the Islamic green ethics realm is primarily rhetorical. These collectively address the instrumental Islamic ethics of modernization of development discourse. Islamic legal maxims, while being highly instrumental and greenwashing within its construct, tend to be selective, cautious, and restrictive. This study enriches the theorization of media and religion within the decolonial discourse paradigms of communication and rhetoric-ecology.

Abstract

This This study aims to analyze the challenges of da‘wah and the dynamics of socio-religious change in remote rural areas, using a case study of Tanjung Gelumpang Village, Sekerak District, Aceh Tamiang Regency. This village is classified as an isolated area characterized by limited infrastructure access, the minimal presence of professional da‘is, and increasingly difficult geographical conditions due to recurrent flooding that has cut off land access and made river routes the only means of transportation. These conditions objectively constitute structural barriers to formal da‘wah activities. Nevertheless, this study reveals an interesting phenomenon in the form of a high level of religious practice and the sustainability of the village’s socio-religious life. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through field observations, in-depth interviews with local religious leaders and customary figures, and documentation of community religious activities. The findings indicate that local actors-such as mosque imams, customary elders, and santri who have completed their pesantren education play a key role in sustaining community-based da‘wah. Da‘wah in this village does not rely on formal institutions but instead develops through social relations, exemplary conduct, and local wisdom that is internalized in the community’s everyday life. These findings emphasize that da‘wah in remote rural areas has distinct characteristics compared to urban da‘wah and requires a contextual approach that is adaptive to the social, cultural, and geographical conditions of the community. This study is expected to contribute both theoretically and practically to the development of community-based da‘wah concepts in marginal and isolated regions.

Abstract

This article discusses the process of internalizing Islamic communication ethics in shaping wise social media behavior among Instagram users, a platform that has now become a digital public space with complex interaction dynamics. In the context of the increasing spread of unverified information, hate speech, and the often-dominant culture of showing off, Islamic communication ethics is seen as a normative foundation capable of guiding more responsible and civilized social media behavior. This research uses a qualitative approach with a library study method, reviewing various literature on the principles of Islamic communication ethics such as honesty, caution, tabayyun (reconciliation), maintaining the honor of oneself and others, and avoiding gossip and slander. The analysis is conducted by examining how these values can be implemented in everyday communication practices on Instagram. The study's findings indicate that internalizing Islamic communication ethics can foster more constructive interaction patterns, encouraging users to verify information before sharing, avoid negative comments, and practice polite language. The discussion reveals that transforming user behavior depends not only on an understanding of ethical values, but also on self-awareness, personal control, and a supportive digital environment. This internalization plays a crucial role in building a more humanistic and welfare-oriented social media culture. In conclusion, the application of Islamic communication ethics has proven relevant and effective in shaping the wise behavior of Instagram users. These ethical values can serve as moral guidelines for facing the challenges of modern digital communication, while also strengthening positive character traits in online interactions.

Abstract

This study examines the role of parental education level in shaping students’ understanding of Islamic Religious Education (IRE) through family-based da’wah practices at As-Salam Senior High School, Bogor, Indonesia. Grounded in the perspective of religious socialization and parental involvement, this research explores how educational background influences parents’ capacity to support, guide, and transmit Islamic values to their children. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed, involving in-depth interviews with students, Islamic education teachers, and parents, supported by classroom observations and document analysis. Participants were selected using purposive sampling to represent diverse parental educational backgrounds. Data were analyzed using interactive thematic analysis through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that parents with higher educational backgrounds tend to provide more structured academic and spiritual support, including religious discussions, access to learning resources, and contextual explanations of Islamic teachings. Consequently, their children demonstrate deeper cognitive, affective, and practical understanding of IRE. In contrast, parents with lower educational levels mainly emphasize moral guidance and religious modeling through daily practices, such as prayer and Qur’anic recitation, but offer limited academic assistance. As a result, students’ understanding is often confined to ritual and normative dimensions. Furthermore, school environment, peer interaction, and students’ intrinsic motivation also contribute to variations in religious understanding. This study highlights that parental education functions as a key medium of family-based da’wah that strengthens students’ religious comprehension and character formation. The findings emphasize the importance of collaboration between schools and families in strengthening Islamic education, particularly in supporting parents with limited educational backgrounds. This research contributes to the discourse on Islamic education and da’wah by demonstrating the strategic role of family in transmitting religious values in contemporary Muslim societies.

Abstract

Changes to the national curriculum have consequences for the assessment paradigm, shifting from a standard-based competency measurement to a more holistic, contextual, and learning-oriented assessment. In the context of Islamic education, evaluation serves not only to measure cognitive aspects but also to reflect the development of students' faith, morals, and religious practices. The 2013 Curriculum emphasizes authentic assessment encompassing attitudes, knowledge, and skills through various formal instruments, while the Independent Curriculum emphasizes formative assessment, differentiation, and strengthening the Pancasila Student Profile in line with Islamic values. This research employed a qualitative approach with comparative study methods and descriptive-interpretive analysis. Data were collected through document studies of curriculum policies, assessment guidelines, and Islamic Religious Education evaluation tools. The results indicate that the 2013 Curriculum has a more systematic and standardized evaluation structure, but tends to be administrative, while the Independent Curriculum is more flexible and reflective, but requires higher teacher pedagogical capacity. This research emphasizes the importance of integrating the advantages of both systems in building an Islamic Education evaluation model that is more holistic, humanistic, and oriented towards the formation of students' religious character.
