Abstract

This study critically examines the potential of Sufism as a spiritual and ethical foundation for anti-feudalist da’wah in Islamic social thought. Feudalism, understood not merely as a historical socio-economic system but as a persistent hierarchical mentality, continues to legitimize social inequality, patronage, and the glorification of worldly status in modern societies. In response, this article posits that Sufism—with its core principles of tawadhu‘ (humility), zuhud (detachment from worldly obsession), ikhlas (sincerity), and ukhuwwah (spiritual brotherhood)—offers a profound spiritual critique of such hierarchical structures. Through a qualitative literature review of classical Sufi works by Al-Ghazali, Ibn ‘Arabi, and Rumi, as well as contemporary analyses, this research demonstrates how Sufi ontology and ethics deconstruct feudal logic by affirming the ontological equality of all human beings before God. The concept of tawhid (divine oneness) is reinterpreted not only as a theological axiom but as a social principle that negates any form of human domination. Furthermore, the article highlights how Sufi teachings foster a form of da’wah that is inherently emancipatory, promoting social justice, moral accountability, and egalitarian consciousness. By purifying the self from spiritual diseases such as kibr (arrogance) and hubb al-jah (love of status), Sufism cultivates a socio-spiritual awareness that challenges both feudal legacies and their modern manifestations. Thus, this paper concludes that Sufism provides a transformative framework for da’wah that seeks not only personal piety but also the establishment of a just and non-hierarchical social order rooted in divine love and moral integrity.

Abstract

ABSTRACT: This study examines the Modification of Productive Dowry as a Strategy for Economic Empowerment and Domestic Violence Prevention for Women in Central Lombok Regency. The research was conducted due to the urgent need to enhance women's economic independence in Central Lombok, where Domestic Violence in Central Lombok Regency often stems from women's economic dependence, making empowerment through productive dowry in the form of rice fields a potential strategy to enhance financial independence and break the cycle of violence. This qualitative research with an anthropological approach employs field research methods, interviews, observations, and documentation in Central Lombok, analyzed using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman. Findings indicate that productive dowry increases family income, supports children's education, and reduces Domestic Violence risks through economic independence, aligning with Islamic teachings and local wisdom. However, internal challenges (low technical farming skills and financial management) and external ones (patriarchal norms and difficult land locations) hinder optimization. Modification strategies include technical training, financial literacy, and diversifying dowry into business capital to strengthen women's empowerment. This study contributes to reinforcing social capital based on local culture for Domestic Violence prevention.

Abstract

This study examines the praxis of dakwah bil-hal (exemplary-based propagation) as employed by Kiai Haji Nur Ali, a charismatic Indonesian Islamic scholar. Moving beyond textual preaching, Kiai Nur Ali’s approach strategically integrated spiritual teachings with tangible socio-economic action, centering the pesantren (Islamic boarding school) as an engine for holistic community development. This qualitative research, utilizing historical and ethnographic analysis, argues that his methodology effectively constructed a sustainable ecosystem of piety (taqwa) and empowerment. By establishing educational institutions, cooperatives, and social programs directly linked to the moral framework of the pesantren, he demonstrated how religious values could drive practical improvements in welfare, education, and communal solidarity. This article concludes that Kiai Nur Ali’s model presents a significant case study of indigenous, faith-based community development, offering insights into the role of traditional religious leadership in addressing modern societal challenges through a framework of integrated spiritual and material progress.

Abstract

This article explores the integration of classical Islamic legal concepts, specifically Ihya Al-Mawat (reviving dead land) and Hima (protected zones), into contemporary preaching (dawah) as a form of applied Environmental Jurisprudence. The central argument posits that dawah must transcend verbal discourse and manifest in tangible action to address the global ecological crisis. Through textual analysis and case studies, this article demonstrates how these two jurisprudential concepts—traditionally associated with land ownership and conservation—can be revitalized and adapted to modern contexts such as ecosystem restoration, urban greening, community-based conservation, and sustainability policy advocacy. The article emphasizes that a preaching approach based on Fiqh al-Bi'ah (environmental jurisprudence) is not only theologically relevant but also serves as a strategic instrument for actualizing the principles of khilafah (stewardship) and maslahah (public welfare). Practical applications of these concepts are evidenced in initiatives like "Green Mosques," forest waqf (endowment) programs, and the integration of environmental fatwas with modern science. In conclusion, reviving Ihya Al-Mawat and Hima through transformative dawah represents an urgent religious calling to build an ecological consciousness with concrete impact, while strengthening the role of Muslim communities in the global environmental justice movement.

Abstract

Islamic Religious Education (IRE) plays a strategic role in shaping learners’ intellectual, moral, and spiritual character. However, contemporary IRE learning practices remain largely dominated by teacher-centered and text-based approaches, resulting in a gap between the normative objectives of Islamic education and its pedagogical implementation. This study aims to reconstruct the learning paradigm of Islamic Religious Education by integrating Problem-Based Learning (PBL) within the framework of Islamic educational philosophy. Employing a qualitative-conceptual approach through philosophical analysis, this article examines IRE learning from ontological, epistemological, and axiological perspectives grounded in Islamic thought. The analysis draws upon classical and contemporary Islamic educational concepts, including ta’dīb, tazkiyah al-nafs, tauḥīd, ijtihād, tafakkur, and tadabbur, and aligns them with the core principles of Problem-Based Learning. The findings indicate that PBL, when reconstructed through Islamic educational philosophy, transcends its methodological function and becomes an integrative pedagogical paradigm that harmonizes critical thinking with spiritual consciousness. This reconstructed paradigm positions learners as active meaning-makers while maintaining Islamic moral and spiritual orientations, and redefines teachers as murabbī and mu’addib who guide intellectual inquiry and spiritual reflection. The study concludes that an integrative PBL-based IRE paradigm offers a holistic, contextual, and transformative learning model capable of fostering intellectual competence, ethical awareness, and spiritual maturity in accordance with Islamic educational ideals. This research contributes theoretically to the development of Islamic education pedagogy that is philosophically grounded and responsive to the challenges of twenty-first-century education.

Abstract

This research focuses on implementing digital media for Islam’s green economy and greenwashing. The research focuses on the decolonization of environmental communications. Using content from the three of the most prominent platforms Kompas.com, Detik.com, and TimesIndonesia.co.id and using the interpretive paradigm, purposive sampling of 45 articles from 2022-2024 on each platform disentangles the empirical evidence in the sustainability and greenwashing discourse in acting and using Islamic ethical concepts in the persuasive framework and communication of khalifah, mīzān, maqāṣid al-sharīʿah, and sadd al-dharīʿah. The ethical, albeit fractured, mediation of legitimizing the articulation of green and sustainable ethics is the function of the platforms. Kompas.com is Critical–Reformist in its jurisprudential orientation and Detik.com from within a social construct of ethical individualized responsibility, while Times from the Islamic green ethics realm is primarily rhetorical. These collectively address the instrumental Islamic ethics of modernization of development discourse. Islamic legal maxims, while being highly instrumental and greenwashing within its construct, tend to be selective, cautious, and restrictive. This study enriches the theorization of media and religion within the decolonial discourse paradigms of communication and rhetoric-ecology.

Abstract

Arabic plays a crucial role in understanding and interpreting the Qur'an. Arabic is the language of the Qur'an, and there is a correlation between it and Qur'anic interpretation. This literature review aims to examine Arabic and its importance in understanding the Qur'an, a subject of increasing public interest. The study's findings demonstrate that Arabic plays a fundamental role in understanding the full meaning of the Qur'an. The root-based structure of Arabic (jidzr al-kalimah) allows a single word to contain multiple, interrelated meanings. Differences in word form, pattern (wazan), and pronunciation can produce significant differences in meaning. Therefore, understanding Arabic is a key prerequisite for accurately interpreting Qur'anic verses. In the science of exegesis, Arabic plays a crucial role, including understanding the semantic meaning of Qur'anic verses and understanding their intended meaning. Translations of the Qur'an cannot replace the Arabic text as the primary source of Islamic law and teachings. Thus, mastery of Arabic is an urgent need, especially for students who want to understand the Qur'an in depth and contextually.
