Abstract

Nature-based learning is an educational approach that utilizes the surrounding environment as a source of learning. The nature-based learning approach is designed to integrate Islamic values with nature exploration activities so that it can form religious character, love for the environment, and intellectual abilities of students. The research method used is descriptive qualitative, with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. This study aims to analyze the implementation of nature-based learning in developing the potential of Islamic students at Al Fazza Elementary School, Depok. The results of the study indicate that nature-based learning at Al Fazza Elementary School prioritizes the principle of monotheism in every learning activity, such as observing natural phenomena, practicing farming, and project-based thematic learning. In addition, this method is effective in building an attitude of environmental care, discipline, cooperation, and spiritual appreciation of students.

Abstract

This study explores the construction of the productive mahar (dowry) concept within the local wisdom of the Tanak Awu community in Central Lombok and its implications for family resilience. Using a literature review and thematic approach, the research finds that the community has a distinctive perspective on determining the form of dowry given by the prospective husband to his future wife. Unlike conventional dowry practices, the productive mahar is designed to provide long-term economic benefits, serving as an asset that strengthens the financial stability of the family. The study identifies three key implications of this practice: (1) Religious implications, where the mahar is perceived as a symbol of commitment and responsibility in accordance with Islamic teachings; (2) Socio-cultural implications, reinforcing traditional values and strengthening community bonds; and (3) Economic implications, where the productive mahar functions as an investment that supports sustainable livelihoods. By integrating these aspects, the productive mahar contributes to family resilience, ensuring economic security while preserving local traditions. This research highlights the importance of culturally embedded dowry practices in fostering sustainable family well-being and offers insights into alternative mahar models that can be adapted in broader socio-economic contexts.

Abstract

Women's fiqh is an important aspect of Islam that has great potential to empower women and enhance religious awareness in Indonesia. However, the understanding and application of women's fiqh in the context of da'wah are still suboptimal. This research aims to explore the role of women's fiqh as a foundation for Islamic da'wah and a driver of women's empowerment in Indonesia. This study employs a qualitative approach, collecting data through in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis. The subjects of the research consist of women involved in da'wah activities and fiqh education in various institutions. The findings indicate that women's fiqh can enhance religious awareness and empower women, but there are still gaps in the application of da'wah materials relevant to contemporary challenges. The study concludes that women's fiqh has significant potential in women's empowerment, and there is a need for the development of more contextual and applicable da'wah materials. This research contributes to the understanding of women's fiqh as a tool for women's empowerment and opens up space for further discussion on the integration of fiqh in education and da'wah.

Abstract

This research critically examines Montgomery Watt’s views on the Prophet’s biography, particularly his relationship with the Jews, in order to refute the misconceptions raised by Watt and other Orientalists who adopted similar perspectives. The study focuses on a critical analysis of Watt’s interpretations of the Prophet’s relationship with the Jews in Medina through a thorough reading of the sixth chapter of his book. The researchers present and objectively critique a selection of Watt’s views, highlighting the ambiguity and bias in his narrative. The study reveals the author’s lack of objectivity in his depiction of the Prophet’s biography, as he selectively frames events in a way that portrays the Jews as victims of the Arabs and Islam. Furthermore, the research aims to shed light on the intellectual and Orientalist influences that may have shaped Watt’s approach and analysis.

Abstract

At present, Muslims are required to be able to act with wasathiyah. Such a wasathiyah act shall be reflected from the ability to integrate two different dimensions, namely the hablun minAllah dimension and the hablun minan-nas dimension. This requirement is not the requirement of the era. It is the requirement of the Qur’an and the Hadith. The Wahhabi-Salafi da’wah promotes hardness. This paper is a library research by using a da’wah approach, especially in the study of people’s problems. A correct understanding of wasathiyah meaning will be able to establish a conscious attitude to perform a moderate Islam under a true meaning. In addition, this study also results in an understanding of da’wah attitudes in facing people attitudes, specifically any da’i who tends to ignore the guidance of wasathiyah and the ways of how to implement Islamic da'wah in order to realize wasathiyah

Abstract

This study examines the science of Hadith criticism (Al-Jarh Wa Al-Ta’dlil), a crucial aspect of Islamic scholarship that deals with the evaluation and authentication of Hadith and to introduce the genesis of Hadith criticism, also to show that the science has a purpose and is one of the fundamental fields in the science of Hadith. The science aims at assessing the reporters of Hadith in order to determine whether those narrators are acceptable or not especially as it relates to Isnad, one of the two major aspects of Hadith, the other being the Matn or the text of a Hadith. The methodology that is followed is that of qualitative analysis through empirical discourses that appeal to the mind. The paper was able to make the reader find out why the scholars are partaking in this with the aim of purifying the second source of Islam, the Hadith of the most Noble Messenger, our Prophet Muhammad (may the Peace and Blessing be upon him). The also research provides a critical analysis of the methodology and applications of Al-Jarh Wa Al-Ta’dlil, highlighting its significance in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of Islamic knowledge. The study also explores the historical development of Al-Jarh Wa Al-Ta’dlil, its key principles and concepts, and its relevance to contemporary Islamic scholarship. The findings of this research contribute to a deeper understanding of the science of Hadith criticism and its role in preserving the integrity of Islamic knowledge. The paper concluded by showing that the purpose of this science was not to criticize the reporters for the sake of criticism but for a noble purpose.

Abstract

The Sokoto Jihad was a major Islamic movement in the 19th century West Africa. The Sokoto Jihad brought profound transformations in the social, political and economic spheres of Hausaland and beyond. Some of such changes include the establishment of the Sokoto Caliphate, the revival of Islam, and the development of learning and scholarship. In fact, the intellectual development brought by the Jihad was the most important impact of the movement the development of knowledge as valuable machinery in the spread and development of Islam. This paper therefore looks at the attitude of Muslims to the study and utilization of the Sokoto Jihad literature. It is however observed that lack of the knowledge and understanding of Arabic is one of the causes of lack of concern. The maghribi style of writing also led to the weary attitude the Muslims to the study and use of the jihad literature. Not only that, it is also observed in the paper that Muslim youths are addicted to other foreign writings and for that look down upon the works of the jihad leaders. The review of existing literature and interview was adopted as a method in the collection of data. It was also recommended that the states of Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara governments should as a matter of fact come in to revive the writings of the Jihad leaders and their followers.

Abstract

The history of nations has witnessed how movements advocating separatism or religious extremism pose challenges to state security and unity, particularly in diverse societies. This issue remains a significant challenge for developing countries today. This study explores the concept of citizenship from an Islamic perspective, drawing from primary Islamic sources such as the Qur'an, the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), and historical precedents from his leadership. Employing qualitative library research, data was collected through textual analysis of Islamic scriptures and historical records. The study categorizes key aspects of Islamic citizenship and employs descriptive analysis to examine its moral, social, and political dimensions. Findings reveal that Islamic citizenship is centered on justice, social harmony, welfare, and state defense—offering a framework distinct from Western notions of citizenship. Rather than being confined to administrative rights, Islamic citizenship embodies active contributions to societal welfare, security, and global humanitarian efforts. Ultimately, this study concludes that the Islamic perspective on citizenship prioritizes collective welfare and national stability, transcending mere legal documentation and emphasizing broader moral and societal obligations.

Abstract

This study examines the economic and social impacts of Islamic inheritance law (faraidh) on wealth distribution and its adaptation to the modern context. Employing a qualitative approach with observation and literature review, the research explores how faraidh affects economic and social justice, and its capacity to adapt to evolving social and cultural landscapes. Findings indicate that while Islamic inheritance law plays a crucial role in fostering economic and social justice, its effectiveness is often hindered by a lack of understanding, delays in distribution, and family disputes. The study emphasizes the potential of technology and enhanced inheritance law education to mitigate disputes and improve compliance. It recommends a greater role for scholars in providing guidance and the need for a strengthened legal system. Further research should explore the impact of technology in inheritance management, conduct case studies of law implementation in various communities, and evaluate the role of ulama and the impact of inheritance law education on legal compliance.

Abstract

This study examines the significant contributions of Muslim women in the judiciary of Northwest Nigeria, focusing on their roles, challenges, and impact on promoting gender equality and justice within the legal system. The research highlights the growing participation of Muslim women in both administrative and adjudicatory roles across Shari'ah and conventional courts. Despite the historical male dominance in the legal profession, Muslim women have made notable strides, particularly in regions where Shari'ah law is integrated with common law. Through qualitative research, including interviews with women in judicial positions, the study reveals that their involvement enhances inclusivity, diversity, and access to justice. It underscores the importance of increasing Muslim women's participation in the judiciary to foster gender-sensitive legal frameworks and inspire future generations of women to pursue careers in law. Additionally, the paper calls for further research into the long-term effects of Muslim women's contributions on the legal system and society at large.
