Abstract

Micro-learning is an instructional approach that delivers content in small, focused units to promote efficient and flexible learning. Although numerous studies have reported positive effects of micro-learning, existing evidence remains fragmented and often focuses on isolated variables without an integrative design-oriented perspective. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of micro-learning by synthesizing key aspects and design considerations that support its successful implementation. A Systematic Literature Review (SLR) was conducted following the PRISMA 2020 framework. Eight peer-reviewed articles from reputable academic journals were selected through strict inclusion and exclusion criteria to ensure methodological rigor, relevance, and alignment with the research objectives. While the limited number of reviewed studies may constrain the generalizability of the findings, this focused selection enables an in-depth and critical synthesis of evidence related to micro-learning design and effectiveness. The findings indicate that the effectiveness of micro-learning is influenced by three interrelated aspects: learners, content, and technology. Learner-related factors include engagement, satisfaction, performance, efficiency, and social interaction. Content-related factors emphasize cognitive load reduction, knowledge retention, and practical application, while technological factors highlight accessibility, contextualization, feedback, and interactivity. Overall, the study suggests that micro-learning can serve as an effective instructional approach when designed by integrating learner needs, content structure, and appropriate technological support to enhance learning outcomes and learner experiences across diverse educational contexts.

Abstract

The rapid development of information and communication technology has significantly transformed educational practices, particularly through the adoption of e-learning platforms such as Moodle-based Learning Management Systems (LMS). This study aims to analyze the research trends of Moodle-based e-learning in Indonesia using a bibliometric approach. Data were collected from Google Scholar using the Publish or Perish (PoP) software, with a limitation of 500 articles published between 2018 and 2023. After a screening and refinement process, 482 articles were selected for analysis. The data were then analyzed using VOSviewer to visualize bibliometric networks, including citation patterns and keyword co-occurrence. The results show a significant increase in publications during 2020 and 2021, driven by the implementation of distance learning during the COVID-19 pandemic. Most publications are indexed in SINTA, Scopus, and conference proceedings, with several highly cited articles indicating strong academic impact. The keyword “Moodle” appears as the most dominant term, reflecting its central role in e-learning research. Furthermore, the findings reveal that Moodle-based e-learning positively contributes to learning quality, knowledge acquisition, and student satisfaction across various educational levels. In conclusion, Moodle plays a crucial role in supporting self-directed and digital learning in Indonesia. However, further research is needed to enhance its long-term effectiveness, innovation, and global research visibility.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of ethnoscience-based Natural Science (IPA) learning by utilizing the Bledug Kuwu phenomenon as a learning resource to enhance elementary school students’ scientific literacy. Bledug Kuwu is a unique geological phenomenon characterized by mud eruptions containing salt, which has long been utilized by the local community as a traditional source of salt. This research employed a mixed-method approach that combined qualitative and quantitative methods. Qualitative data were obtained through field observations, interviews with community members, teachers, and students, as well as an analysis of instructional documents. Quantitative data were collected through scientific literacy tests administered as pre-tests and post-tests to an experimental class and a control class, each consisting of 16 students. Quantitative analysis was conducted using paired sample t-tests, independent sample t-tests, and N-Gain analysis. The qualitative findings indicate that ethnoscience-based science learning incorporating the Bledug Kuwu phenomenon enhances students’ understanding of scientific concepts, curiosity, scientific attitudes, and awareness of environmental and local cultural values. Students demonstrated an improved ability to connect scientific concepts with real-life phenomena in their surrounding environment. The quantitative results show a significant improvement in scientific literacy in the experimental class compared to the control class, as indicated by higher post-test mean scores and moderate-to-high N-Gain values. These findings suggest that integrating local phenomena as ethnoscience-based learning resources makes science learning more contextual, meaningful, and effective. Therefore, Bledug Kuwu has strong potential as an inspiration for science learning to optimally develop scientific literacy and character among elementary school students.

Abstract

This study was inspired by fifth-grade elementary school students' poor performance in mathematics, particularly in plane figures, due to the widespread use of the lecture method, which tends to make students docile and unmotivated. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to ascertain how the Discovery Learning approach affects the academic performance of thirty fifth-grade students at SDIT Tahfidz Bintangku in Probolinggo City, particularly in the field of plane figures. Any causal interpretation must take into consideration risks to internal validity because the approach was a quantitative study using a pre-experimental design of the one-group pretest-posttest type without a control group. The study used written pretest and posttest instruments, whose reliability was evaluated using Cronbach's Alpha (α = 0.87, high category) and whose validity was evaluated using Pearson's product-moment correlation. With a significance level of 0.000 < 0.05 and an average N-gain Score of 0.42 (moderate category) and a Cohen's Effect Size of 1.23 (large effect category), data analysis using the Paired Samples t-Test with IBM SPSS Statistics showed an increase in the mean score from 40.83 on the pre-test to 65.73 on the post-test; as a result, H1 is accepted. Therefore, it can be said that the Discovery Learning approach significantly improves fifth-grade elementary school students' learning outcomes in the area of plane figures; however, given the limitations of the research design, which did not include a control group, causal generalizations should be made with caution.
