Abstract

Dynamic changes in the digital era create great challenges for the younger generation, especially in an environment characterized by Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity, and Ambiguity (VUCA). Fear of Missing Out (FOMO) and doom spending is a significant behavioral manifestation among the younger generation, including Bale Bandung University students. This study aims to analyze the role of the VUCA framework in shaping both phenomena and provide insight into the factors that influence these behaviors. The research method used was a Systematic Literature Review (SLR), which allows for a structured analysis of relevant academic literature. Data was obtained from reputable journals, conference proceedings, and educational books using strict inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data analysis was conducted by categorizing the findings based on the elements of VUCA and its relationship with FOMO and doom spending. Translated with DeepL.com (free version)The results show that VUCA elements, such as uncertainty and complexity, exacerbate FOMO and doom spending tendencies, especially through the influence of social media (3 article). College students who face social and financial pressures in a dynamic environment exhibit impulsive consumptive behavior as a coping mechanism for these pressures. The findings are consistent with previous studies, but extend the literature by integrating the VUCA framework in the analysis. This research makes a significant contribution to understanding the impact of VUCA on young people's social behavior and opens opportunities for the development of intervention strategies. These results are relevant for educational institutions and policymakers in designing digital literacy, financial management, and mental support programs. In conclusion, a VUCA-based approach can be a foundation for addressing increasingly complex social challenges in the digital age.

Abstract

This research aims to determine: (1) the level of understanding of third grade elementary school students regarding the elements and properties of simple flat shapes, and; (2) distribution of students based on their level of understanding. The research objectives were achieved using a descriptive qualitative research approach. The sample involved was 156 students taken from the population using saturated sampling techniques. Data collection was carried out using a test method which aims to measure students' competence in understanding the elements and properties of simple flat shapes. The collected data was analyzed by calculating the average percentage and standard deviation (SD), which were then converted into categories of student understanding level. The calculation result of the average percentage = 62.37%, and the standard deviation is 21.08. In general, students' level of understanding is in the "sufficient" category. The distribution of students based on their level of understanding is: 31 students are in the upper group; 100 students fall into the medium group, and; 25 students fall into the lower group.  These findings can then be used as a basis for designing differentiated learning, according to students' level of understanding of geometry at the initial level.

Abstract

Language and gender are inextricably linked and have been the focus of extensive study in sociolinguistics studies. The language features between men and women use are different as women's speech appears to be weaker than men's in many ways. Famous Netflix series entitled Anne with an E provides a unique context for examining women's language features as it is set in the late 19th century and features a young female protagonist who navigates a patriarchal society. The researcher aims to examine the types and factors of women’s language features performed by the female main character in Anne with an E based on Lakoff’s theory. This research uses qualitative method. The primary data source is the utterances extracted from a transcribed first episode of season 1 of the series. The first finding showed that Anne Shirley used 226 women’s language features and all 10 types was found. The most used type was intensifier with 63 (27.87%) data acquired. She used it to emphasize her feelings, thoughts, and experiences, reflecting her expressive and emotive nature. Meanwhile Marilla Cuthbert used 99 women’s language features and 8 from 10 types was found. The most used type was lexical hedge or filler with 34 (34.34%) data acquired. As a responsible adult and caretaker character, she used it to soften assertions or to give herself time to formulate her thoughts. The second finding reveal that both Anne Shirley’s and Marilla Cuthbert’s use of women’s language features were influenced by physiological factors, psychological factors, and social (cultural and historical) factors. The analysis demonstrated that both of their language features in this series are deeply influenced by their backgrounds and characters. The use of women's language features in the series Anne with an E implies that gender differences in language are not only influenced by biological factors but also by psychological, social, and historical factors that shape how individuals communicate in a patriarchal society.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to examine the impact of using the Warung Hierarchy learning model on students' learning participation in the Citizenship Education (PPKn) learning process. Student participation is considered a key factor influencing their learning outcomes, and it is crucial for teachers to encourage active involvement in learning activities, as good participation can lead to optimal results. The researcher focuses on using an innovative learning model to enhance student participation. The experimental method was used, with the researcher testing the effect of the Warung Hierarchy model on improving learning participation. The study was conducted with students from a vocational school as the sample to evaluate the effectiveness of this model during PPKn lessons. The results indicate that implementing the Warung Hierarchy learning model can increase students' participation, which suggests that this model is effective in encouraging students to engage more actively in the learning process, ultimately positively influencing their learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the concept of Fitrah-Based Education (FBE) as an alternative paradigm for character development in Early Childhood Education (ECE). This approach emphasizes the importance of exploration, experience, and play in fostering children's character in alignment with their natural fitrah. The research employs a narrative review method by examining and analyzing various literature sources related to the concepts, principles, and implementation of FBE in ECE. Data sources include scientific journals, books, and relevant educational policy documents. The analysis involves comparing different perspectives on FBE, identifying supporting factors and challenges in its implementation, and exploring the most effective learning models for character development based on fitrah. The findings indicate that FBE has significant potential in shaping children's character naturally and holistically. Exploration- and play-based learning enable children to develop moral, social, and emotional values in ways that align with their developmental stages. Furthermore, the active involvement of teachers and parents plays a crucial role in ensuring the success of this approach. Key supporting factors in implementing FBE include a deep understanding of the fitrah concept, flexible educational policies, and a conducive learning environment for children's development. Thus, FBE can serve as a more humanistic and developmentally appropriate character education approach in early childhood. Collaboration among educators, parents, and policymakers is essential to optimize the implementation of FBE within the ECE system, ensuring that children develop optimally according to their natural fitrah.
