Abstract

Adolescence is a challenging developmental stage, marked by significant emotional, social, and psychological changes. In this phase, adolescents are vulnerable to deviant behavior or juvenile delinquency due to lack of self-control and environmental influences. Emotional intelligence, which includes the ability to recognize, understand, and manage one's own emotions and those of others, is believed to play an important role in shaping positive behavior in adolescents. Community service aims to increase adolescents' knowledge about emotional intelligence in preventing juvenile delinquency. The method used in this community service is in the form of counseling on emotional intelligence and juvenile delinquency. The importance of emotional intelligence in adolescents is because adolescents with high levels of emotional intelligence tend to have better self-control, empathy for others, and are able to make wise decisions in complex social situations. The target of this community service activity is students at SMA Negeri 6 Kota Bengkulu. Developing emotional intelligence from an early age is an effective preventive strategy in reducing the risk of juvenile delinquency and forming emotionally healthy characters.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to improve the understanding and skills of PAUD teachers throughout Ulu Musi District, Empat Lawang Regency, in evaluating the management of learning environment management. An optimal learning environment plays a very important role in supporting the holistic growth and development of early childhood. However, the results of initial observations showed that most teachers still have limited understanding and rarely conduct structured evaluations. This activity was carried out through a participatory seminar method and direct training involving 30 teachers from various PAUD units. The results of the activity showed a significant increase in teacher knowledge, the ability to use simple evaluation instruments, and the emergence of initiatives to prepare follow-up plans (RTL) in each PAUD unit. This seminar also succeeded in identifying major challenges, such as limited facilities and lack of collaboration with external parties, and offered applicable solutions that can be applied according to the local context. Thus, this activity makes a real contribution to strengthening the capacity of teachers in managing a safe, comfortable learning environment that supports the development of early childhood.

Abstract

Adolescent girls are a group that is prone to anemia. Adolescent girls are at higher risk of anemia compared to adolescent boys. According to Riskesdas data in 2018, the prevalence of anemia in Indonesia is 48.9% with the proportion of anemia found in the age group of 15-24 years and 25-34 years. Anemia prevention education for adolescent girls aims to provide understanding and knowledge to adolescents about anemia and the impact that will be experienced in adolescents. The target of this activity is adolescent girls at SMPN 11 Seluma, Education is carried out by direct education face-to-face and discussion in the classroom. The result of this activity is that participants understand more about the importance of preventing anemia in adolescents.

Abstract

Exclusive breastfeeding during the first six months of a baby's life is very important to support optimal growth and development and increase the child's immune system. However, the success rate of exclusive breastfeeding is still relatively low in some regions. This study aims to determine the influence of health education on maternal knowledge about exclusive breastfeeding using a pre-post test design. The study was conducted on 15 pregnant women in the working area of the Periukan Water Health Center, precisely in the second hamlet of Sukasari Village. An intervention in the form of exclusive breastfeeding counseling was given once, and data was collected using questionnaires before and after the intervention. The results of the analysis showed a significant increase in mothers' knowledge after being educated, with an average pre-test score of 44 and post-test of 92. The results of the statistical test using the paired t-test showed a p value of < 0.05, which means that there was a significant difference before and after counseling. The conclusion of this study is that health education has a positive effect on increasing maternal knowledge about exclusive breastfeeding. It is recommended that educational activities like this be carried out on an ongoing basis to support exclusive breastfeeding practices in the community.

Abstract

The lack of public knowledge about contraceptive methods, particularly the Intrauterine Device (IUD), has resulted in the suboptimal use of this long-term contraceptive method. Health education counseling on IUD-based family planning aims to improve the community’s understanding—especially among women of reproductive age—of the benefits, how it works, as well as the advantages and disadvantages of the IUD as a family planning method.The activity was carried out in the form of counseling using leaflets and presentations to the residents of Sukasari Village, Air Periukan Subdistrict, Seluma Regency. The results showed enthusiasm and active participation from the community during the question-and-answer and discussion sessions. This educational initiative is expected to raise awareness about choosing the right contraceptive method according to individual needs and to encourage appropriate use of long-term contraception.

Abstract

Environmental sanitation is one of the essential aspects in achieving an optimal level of public health. Inadequate sanitation conditions can increase the risk of infectious diseases such as diarrhea, helminth infections, and other gastrointestinal illnesses, which directly affect children’s nutritional status. The imbalance between nutrient intake and recurring infections may lead to stunting in early childhood. This study aims to educate the community about the role of proper environmental sanitation in reducing the risk of stunting in Dusun II, Sukasari Village, Air Periukan Subdistrict, Seluma Regency. The method used in this activity was community outreach in the form of health education, involving 13 students from the Thematic Community Service Program (KKNT) and local village officials. The activities included delivering educational materials on environmental sanitation, waste management, and strategies for clean and healthy living. The results of this initiative showed a high level of community participation and an increased awareness of the importance of maintaining proper sanitation. It is expected that this educational effort will promote positive behavioral changes among the residents in maintaining a clean environment as a preventive strategy against stunting.

Abstract

Early marriage remains a significant social issue frequently found among teenagers, including those in Seluma Regency. This problem is caused by various factors such as cultural norms, economic difficulties, low levels of education, and a lack of understanding about the negative impacts of early marriage, such as school dropouts, high-risk pregnancies, mental health issues, and stunting. This study aims to increase students’ knowledge and awareness about the dangers of early marriage and its relation to reproductive health and stunting through a health education program. The activity was carried out by KKN students from Universitas Dehasen Bengkulu at SMP Negeri 11 Seluma on May 14, 2025. The method used was a participatory education approach through direct material presentation, educational video screenings, and group discussions. The results showed that students’ initial understanding of early marriage was 49.17%. After the educational intervention, knowledge significantly increased to 74.83%. However, about 25% of students still lacked a deeper understanding, especially about the link between early marriage and reproductive health and stunting. This highlights the need for continued education efforts. The activity also succeeded in encouraging students to commit personally to delaying marriage and prioritizing the completion of their education. Therefore, this program can be seen as a preventive strategy to reduce the incidence of child marriage in Seluma Regency.

Abstract

Scabies is a contagious skin disease caused by infestation of the Sarcoptes scabiei mite. This condition commonly occurs in densely populated environments with poor personal hygiene, such as Islamic boarding schools (pesantren), dormitories, or correctional facilities. The main symptom of scabies is intense itching, especially at night, accompanied by skin lesions such as rashes and small bumps. Transmission occurs through direct person-to-person contact or through contaminated personal items. Prevention includes maintaining personal hygiene, avoiding the sharing of personal belongings, and providing proper treatment to infected individuals and close contacts. Health education for students and caregivers in pesantren is crucial to increase awareness, prevent transmission, and create a clean and healthy environment. Early treatment and continuous education are key to controlling scabies in densely populated settings.

Abstract

This intensive one-day composting training program engaged 68 households in RT 33 RW 06 Betungan through a focused demonstration session. Using the Takakura method adapted for urban settlements, the training covered waste segregation, composting techniques, and troubleshooting common issues. Post-training evaluation revealed 78% comprehension of core concepts, with 32 households (47%) initiating composting . The condensed format proved effective for knowledge transfer but highlighted the need for follow-up support to ensure long-term adoption in high-density neighborhoods.

Abstract

The lack of street signs in RT 08 Pematang Gubernur makes it difficult for residents and visitors to find locations and weakens the area’s identity. This community service program aims to strengthen local identity through street sign installation. This research used a qualitative case study method with observation, interviews, and documentation. The results show that the signs improved navigation, strengthened residents’ sense of belonging, and enhanced the area’s organized image. Challenges included limited funding and incomplete street name data. This program proves that simple street signs can support local identity if planned and maintained collectively.
