Abstract

Background. Community participation in the implementation of waste management can be done at the household level, including sorting out waste and collecting recyclable waste in recycling programs. Bintaro Jaya area has various inorganic waste recycling programs that households can participate in, such as garbage bank programs, garbage dropboxes, and garbage donations to recycling centres or garbage collectors for recycling. The three programs have differences such as the ease of access and the type of waste collected in the program. Aim. The purpose of this study is to analyze the household participation level on inorganic waste recycling programs in Bintaro Jaya area Pondok Pucung urban village region and to find out the factors related. Method. This study used a cross-sectional study design. The analysis unit is a household with a minimum sample based on a two-proportion hypothesis test calculation of 147. Statistical analysis used is chi-square and logistic regression tests. Result. The results of this study indicate that the participation rate of households is 54.5%. The factors related to household participation are the availability of segregated waste bins (p-value < 0.001), and information through socialization (p-value <0.001).

Background. Smoking behavior is a hazardous practice that continues to be normalized and trivialized by society. Factors contributing to smoking behavior include parental influence, personality factors, advertising influence, and peer conformity. Peer conformity holds the highest influence on smoking behavior, especially among teenagers, as adolescence is a period of self-discovery during which they explore various activities. Aim. To determine the relationship between peer conformity and smoking behavior. Method. Quantitative research of a cross-sectional design was conducted. The population consisted of 525 male students from the 2022 cohort, with a sample of 293 smoking students selected using purposive sampling technique. Data collection was carried out using a Google Form. Univariate data analysis was performed using frequency distribution, and bivariate analysis was conducted using the chi-square test. Results. There is a significant relationship between conformity with close friends (p-value 0.001 < 0.05) with an odds ratio (OR) of 20.476, a significant relationship between conformity with small group friends (p-value 0.003 < 0.05) with an OR of 0.397, and a significant relationship between conformity with organization group friends (p-value 0.002 < 0.05) with an OR of 0.422 concerning smoking behavior. There is no significant relationship between conformity with gang group friends (p-value 0.077 > 0.05) and large group friends (p-value 0.754 > 0.05) and student smoking behavior. Conclusion. The smoking behavior in students is caused by conformity with close friends, small group friends, and organization group friends

Abstract

Background. The COVID-19 pandemic has given rise to a new issue, known as the infodemic about COVID-19. Individual behaviors in preventing the transmission of COVID-19 are influenced by their level of health literacy. While students are expected to have good health literacy, data shows that a high proportion of students have a lower level of health literacy. Aim. The research aims to assess the effectiveness of participatory learning methods based on a website in improving health literacy among students during the COVID-19 pandemic. Method. The research design is an experimental design, specifically a pretest-posttest control group with randomization design. The research sample was randomly selected from 6 universities in Solo Raya that had completed the eHEALS health literacy screening questionnaire. Each intervention and control group had 41 respondents, and data analysis was performed using T-Test Result. The intervention of participatory learning methods based on a website significantly improved students' health literacy during the COVID-19 pandemic (p=0.031). Similar educational efforts targeting a broader audience are needed to enhance health literacy and promote the implementation of health protocols during the COVID-19 pandemic
