Abstract

The negative stigma against HIV/AIDS sufferers is still a serious problem in society. Many individuals assume that this disease is the result of deviant moral behavior, so sufferers often experience social discrimination, such as being ostracized and shunned. Some people still believe that HIV/AIDS is just a rumor created for the benefit of the pharmaceutical industry. In Riau Province in 2024, it was recorded that 4,018 individuals had reached the AIDS stage, with an increase in new cases of 86%. However, many sufferers are reluctant to get themselves checked if they have not experienced severe symptoms, which causes delays in treatment, leading to critical conditions and increasing mortality rates. This community service program was carried out in response to the low understanding of partners regarding the sources of transmission, risk factors, and complications of HIV/AIDS. Therefore, the community service team carried out education on preventing critical conditions of HIV/AIDS. After the socialization, partners showed an increased understanding of the differences in HIV/AIDS symptoms according to stage, recognized risk factors, and committed to avoiding risky behavior. In addition, partners took the initiative to support government programs to reduce the number of HIV/AIDS cases in the community.

Abstract

Paraphrasing ability is an essential skill that students must have to improve the quality of academic writing and avoid plagiarism. However, many students still struggle to rephrase information effectively due to limited vocabulary, understanding of language structure, and lack of practice in academic writing. Therefore, this community service activity aims to improve the paraphrasing skills of Patompo University students through online training based on Zoom Meetings. The training method applied includes five main stages, namely (1) presentation of material on paraphrasing techniques and academic ethics, (2) discussion and question and answer sessions to clarify participants' understanding, (3) direct practice in rephrasing academic texts, (4) mentoring and feedback on students' paraphrasing results, and (5) assessment of academic manuscripts as a final evaluation. This program also integrates supporting technology to help students evaluate the quality of their paraphrases. The results of this activity show an increase in students' understanding of paraphrasing techniques and their ability to apply them in academic work. With this training, it is hoped that students can be more confident in writing originally, improve critical thinking skills, and build a more ethical and professional academic culture.

Abstract

The purpose of the public discussion is to educate students, particularly teenage girls, on the use of experience materials to treat menstrual pain (dysmenorrhea). This program is implemented by using the School Health Unit as a media outlet to facilitate education and use ginger-boiled water and green coconut water as a substitute for menstrual pain. Through study and instruction, teenage girls learn about the benefits of ginger and green coconut, which contain natural compounds that can help reduce pain. As an easy, safe, and pleasant way to lessen the severity of menstruation, ginger boiled water, which has anti-inflammatory and anti-spasmodic properties, as well as green coconut water, which will be electrolyzed and include antioxidants, is recommended. Along with teaching, this program teaches students how to properly handle and consume both of these materials so they may use them independently. It is hoped that through this activity, teenage girls will have useful solutions to deal with dysmenorrhea and that they will also increase their awareness of the importance of reproductive health.
