Abstract

The present study was aimed to examine the role of personality types on the prediction of gratitude among adults. The gender differences in gratitude were also examined. Gratitude Questionnaire-Six Item Form (GQ - 6) (McCullough, Emmons & Tsang, 2002) and Big Five personality inventory (John & Srivastava, 2005) were used for data collection for a sample of adults (N = 200). Independent t-test, Pearson Correlation, and multiple regression were computed for data analysis. Results indicated that extraversion has a significant positive correlation with agreeableness, openness, conscientiousness, and gratitude and a significant negative correlation with neuroticism. Results also showed that openness has a significant correlation with conscientiousness and gratitude and a significant negative correlation with neuroticism. Also, conscientiousness has a significant correlation with gratitude and a non-significant negative correlation with neuroticism. Neuroticism has a significant negative correlation with gratitude. Multiple regression analysis was computed with personality types as predictor variables and gratitude as an outcome variable. Findings also indicated that extroversion, agreeableness, openness, and conscientiousness have a significant positive effect on gratitude, while neuroticism has a significant negative effect on gratitude. Therefore, individuals who are social, outgoing open, and helping they inclined to show more gratitude.

Abstract

In Pakistan, women treat not equally as a man in every stage of life. The patriarchal system of Pakistan retains women behindhand the man and generates inequalities to have equal social and economic opportunities of life enjoyment for the woman. A healthier lifestyle depends on the earning status of an individual. Without earning, the maintenance of the lifecycle cannot be possible. Pakistan is an underdeveloped country the half proportion of the population consists of women. Women’s participation in the labor force can improve the economy of the country and perform an active role in finishing poverty in Pakistan. The current study has been conducted from Balochistan, the most backward province of Pakistan. The people of Balochistan have strict cultural values and a tribal system, where the best place for women to stay is around the four walls of the home. They are not allowed to work outside the home. The number of working women is less as compared to men in the formal sector. The research aims to highlight the problems of women's employment due to male dominancy at the workplace. The nature of the study is quantitative; the area of study is higher educational institutes of Quetta Balochistan. Through simple random sampling, 500 respondents were selected. Data was collected through a structured questionnaire. The hypothetical statement was tested by the chi-square test. The p-value of the chi-square is lesser than 0.05. The results of the study show that due to the male-dominancy women do not have equal opportunities of selection at the workplace. The males' strong positions in the labor market create hurdles regarding women's employment. This study will be helpful for economists, the social welfare department, women development programs, different NGOs working for women's development to introduce policies for women's employment.

Abstract

The focus of this study was to examine the influence of sociodemographic factors such as age, education, siblings’ number, family income, and family systems on the social development and self-esteem of the adolescents of a single parent or both parents and how the absence of both parents can influence these important aspects. It is a quantitative cross-sectional research design with the survey as a method. Adolescents from single and from both parents, male, and female (N=320), 160 from single-parent families, and 160 from two-parent families took part in the field survey on self-esteem. Heatherton and Polivy (1991) state self-esteem scales were used to collect data. Data were verified with SPSS version 21.0. A significant difference was visible in adolescents’ self-esteem with both parents compared to adolescents with a single parent. A weak correlation was found between age, education, and self-esteem. For siblings’ number, it was found that adolescents of intact families, were more statistically associated than adolescents with a single parent regarding the number of siblings. Outcomes confirm the approach of a strong family system to strengthen the functioning of intact families by emphasizing the joint and extended family connections that only contribute to boosting the spousal relationship, paternal and maternal grandparents, and grandchildren relationships. Clinicians and educators working with step families should promote positive, emotionally close step relationships and encourage strong marital bonds and trust in higher-order marriages.

Abstract

Managing economic, social and environmental dimensions of sustainability in the operations of Construction Project Management is one of the significant tasks for today's managers. Because of its huge environmental impacts, The Construction industry emerges as an area of immense sustainable development. This led to an increase the focus of researchers and global communities towards incorporating sustainability in construction projects, and it changed the science of construction project management to a great extent. Yet, incorporating sustainability in projects is not a single time task rather a process whose scope is broadly distributed in all phases of construction projects, including planning, execution, delivery, and even till the lifecycle of project deliverables. Although project management and the concept of sustainability have been widely studied separately, how these two different fields act collectively and coordinate within the vibrant construction projects require more attention of researchers. In this paper Sustainability Integration Model (SIM) is presented based on a review of recent literature to define and incorporate sustainability in projects with a special focus on the construction industry.

Abstract

Modal verbs are generally critical in expressing an opinion and assist in the depiction of future events. This work represents and analyzes the function and frequency of modal verbs used in airlines' guidelines during the COVID-19 pandemic. By employing a mixed-methods approach, the corpus was analyzed using Antconc 3.5.8.0. The data were categorized into six components, including ability, possibility, permission, prediction, acknowledgment, and obligation. The findings show that in African and Asian Airlines’ instructions, modal verbs are used to share their opinion related to the instructions for the future. Also, findings reveal that ‘can' and ‘will’ are used to predict possible events. Furthermore, findings show that in European airlines' instructions, the obligatory modal verb ‘must’ is used to enforce their instruction for better comprehension. Additionally, findings also show that Asian writers are more aligned towards using modal verbs than Middle East writers who are least concerned about using modal verbs. The most recurring modal verb used by the writers is their predictive modal verb ‘will’ and the obligatory modal verb ‘must.' This study implies that readers should be conscious of the writer's stance marking since it may affect the mind and exploit ideas.

Abstract

The compilers are manufactured in such a way that they ignore most comments in software systems' source code. In addition to being a key source of system documentation, code comments are essential for both establishment and improvement. System comments or just quantitative assertions regarding the quality of the program are presently the only known techniques for evaluating software quality. In software development, comments are being used as a regular practice to enhance the clarity of code and to transmit the enthusiasm of programmers in a more conveyed manner. Whereas programmers seldom bother to keep their comments current. Comments are an important source of information about how the framework works. Various disciplines have concentrated on the content of the online client comments in different contexts, utilizing manual quantitative/subjective or (semi-)automatic methods. The wide variety and disciplinary partitions make it hard to get a handle on an outline of those views which have proactively been inspected. The huge number of daily comments inundating the newsroom can be amazing, particularly when a huge chunk is unfriendly or "contaminated" in content and tone. When dealing with complex documents such as source code, it can be hard to link the dots between the practical linguistic information contained within the code as well as the corresponding textual explanation found within the code, making it unsuitable for use in program analysis and mining assignments. Analysis of code comments on software improvement is examined in this research. Studies on code comments have been summarized in this paper, which covers four main areas: relevance of code comments, quality of code comment sources, code comment analysis, as well as a research approach for code comments and difficulties. It provides more comprehensive information for future research by analyzing effective methods for this study issue.

Abstract

The present study investigated the relationship between adults' wisdom, aggression, narcissism, and self-esteem. A purposive sample (N = 300) of adults selected, both male and female, were included in the sample. Narcissism was measured through Narcissistic Personality Inventory (NPI) developed by Robert Raksin and Calvin. Wisdom is measured through Three Dimensional Wisdom Scale (3D-WS) developed by Monika Ardelt 2003. Aggression is measured through Buss and Perry Aggression Scale (BPAQ) developed by Buss and Perry. Self-esteem is measured through Rosen Berg Self-esteem Scale (RBSES) developed by Rosenberg. Descriptive statistics, alpha reliability, Pearson correlation, and t-test were computed to test the hypothesis. Pearson correlation showed a significant correlation between narcissism and self-esteem, the negative correlation of wisdom with aggression, and low self-esteem related to aggression but insignificantly, also a significant difference between wisdom on gender. This study helps mental health practitioners determine adults' overall psychological well-being.
