Abstract

This study aims to determine and analyze how renewable energy and technology adoption affect air quality in developing countries in Southeast Asia. This study uses secondary data sourced from the World Bank from 2000-2021 with research variables grouped into three parts: the dependent variable which in this study is defined as air quality, and the independent variables are renewable energy and technology adoption, and the control variables used in this study are economic openness, manufacturing sector, Gross Domestic Product (GDP), forest area and energy intensity. This study uses panel data regression analysis with a cross section of 5 developing countries in Southeast Asia and a time series from 2000-2021. The results of the study indicate that renewable energy and technological adoption have a negative effect on air quality as measured by carbon dioxide (CO2) emission levels, thus providing an opportunity to reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emission levels in these countries.

Abstract

Abstract This study aims to examine how interest rates, exchange rates, and foreign direct investment (FDI) affect the performance of non-oil and gas exports in the ASEAN region during the period 2009-2023. The research approach uses a quantitative method based on panel data regression, utilizing secondary data from Bruegel, Trading Economics, and the ASEAN Statistical Yearbook. The main variables analyzed include interest rates, exchange rates, and foreign direct investment (FDI) on non-oil and gas exports in the 10 ASEAN member countries. The analysis results indicate that interest rates have a negative and significant impact, while exchange rates have a positive but insignificant impact, and FDI has a significant positive impact. These findings emphasize the need to maintain exchange rate stability, increase productive foreign investment, and implement monetary policies that support the competitiveness of non-oil and gas exports. Additionally, strengthening domestic production capacity is a crucial strategy for ASEAN to sustain non-oil and gas export growth amid global trade challenges. Keywords: interest rate, exchange rate, foreign direct investment, non-oil and gas export

Abstract

This study aims to examine three main things: (1) the influence of customer characteristics on the increase in MSME turnover, (2) the impact of business characteristics on the growth of MSME turnover, and (3) the extent to which credit characteristics affect the increase in MSME turnover. The data used is cross section and was obtained from PT Pegadaian Terandam Branch in 2023. The analysis method applied in this study is logistic regression. The findings show that two factors of customer characteristics, namely gender and education level, have a significant effect on increasing the turnover of MSMEs in the branch. On the other hand, the variables of age, type of business, ownership of the business premises, length of business operation, and loan amount did not show a significant influence. These findings underscore the importance of increasing the capacity of MSME actors through education, both formal and non-formal, to support business management skills and encourage turnover growth.
