Abstract

This research examines the impact of access to microcredit and socio-economic characteristics on the consumption of poor households in Sumatera Barat using data from SUSENAS 2020 and multiple linear regression with robust standard errors. The results show that microcredit has a significant negative effect on consumption, presumably due to ineffective utilization and debt burden. Conversely, employment status, education, gender of the household head, number of members, and urban residency have a significant positive impact, while age has a negative effect. The findings emphasize the importance of a comprehensive approach that includes credit assistance, economic empowerment, and contextual policies to sustainably improve the well-being of poor households.

Abstract

This study aims to examine and analyze the influence of Third Party Funds (TPF), Bank Size, Operating Expenses to Operating Revenue (BOPO), Net Interest Margin (NIM), and BI Rate on credit in Rural Credit Banks (BPR) in Padang City. This study uses a quantitative approach with quarterly panel data for the period 2015–2024 obtained from the Financial Services Authority (OJK) and analysis was conducted using panel data regression methods through EViews 12 software. The research results show that TPF, Bank Size, and NIM have a positive and significant effect on credit in BPR in Padang City, while BOPO and BI Rate have a negative but not significant effect on credit in BPR in Padang City. These findings indicate that fund availability, bank capacity, and profit margin (NIM) are the main determinant factors in credit distribution of BPR in Padang City, while the insignificance of BOPO and BI Rate shows that operational efficiency and macroeconomic conditions have not become the main considerations in determining credit volume. Based on these results, it is recommended that BPR management focus on optimizing TPF collection to strengthen funding base, increasing business scale to expand credit distribution capacity, maintaining optimal NIM levels to ensure profitability, anticipating BI Rate changes through appropriate pricing strategy and timing adjustments, and strengthening credit risk management systems.

Abstract

This study aims to identify strategies for developing marine aquaculture, determine the position of marine aquaculture development, and formulate key strategic priorities for developing marine aquaculture in Mentawai Islands Regency. The methods used in this study are the SWOT and QSPM methods. The results of the study based on SWOT analysis indicate there are eight alternative strategies for the development of marine aquaculture, and the position of marine aquaculture development in Mentawai Islands Regency is in Quadrant IV (growing and developing) and VI (harvesting or divestment). Meanwhile, the primary priority strategies based on the QSPM analysis with the highest TAS values are: (1) enhancing human resource capacity through modern and sustainable aquaculture training, (2)establishing integrated marine aquaculture zones based on communities (marine farming villages) equipped with processing and marketing facilities, and (3) developing collaborative financing schemes (grants, CSR,village funds) for aquaculture infrastructure. The local government of Mentawai Islands Regency needs to formulate an integrated strategy for the development of marine aquaculture, including enhancing human resource capacity, adopting environmentally friendly technologies, developing supporting infrastructure, strengthening investment and market access, and fostering multi-stakeholder collaboration through financing schemes and cross-sectoral coordination.

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of fiscal decentralization and capital expenditure on regional inequality across Sumatra Island. Utilizing panel data from ten provinces over the 2015–2024 period, the analysis employs a Fixed Effect Model (FEM) to control for unobserved heterogeneity among provinces. Regional inequality is measured using the Williamson Index, while fiscal decentralization is proxied by the degree of expenditure-side fiscal decentralization. The empirical results indicate that both fiscal decentralization and capital expenditure exert a negative and statistically significant effect on regional inequality. These findings underscore the critical role of optimizing local revenue (PAD) and prioritizing capital investment in basic infrastructure to foster more equitable regional development across Sumatra Island.
