Abstract

This study examines the impact of good governance on poverty levels in developing countries. Good governance is measured using five World Bank indicators: Control of Corruption, Government Effectiveness, Regulatory Quality, Political Stability and Absence of Violence/Terrorism, and Voice and Accountability. The analysis employs panel data regression from 16 developing countries over the period 2008–2022, using a quantitative approach through the Random Effect Model (REM). The findings indicate that both individually and jointly, good governance indicators have a significant effect on poverty. Control variables, namely Gross Domestic Product (GDP) per capita and Labor Force Participation Rate (LFPR), also play an important role. These results highlight that improving governance quality through transparency, policy effectiveness, and public participation is a strategic effort to sustainably alleviate poverty in developing countries.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of external and internal factors on inflation in Indonesia from 1994-2024, which includes global energy prices, global non-energy commodity prices, real exchange rate, and real consumption. The analysis was conducted using multiple linear regression method with Ordinary Least Square (OLS) model adjusted using the Newey-West method (Heteroskedasticity and Autocorrelation Consistent/HAC). The results show that global energy prices have no significant effect on inflation. Conversely, global non-energy commodity prices have a significant positive effect on inflation. The real exchange rate and real consumption show a significant negative effect on inflation in Indonesia. Simultaneously, all four variables are proven to have a significant effect on inflation in Indonesia. These findings provide important implications for the government to continue more targeted energy subsidy policies, maintain real exchange rate stability, strengthen stabilization of non-energy commodity prices through increased agricultural sector productivity and strengthening of national food reserves, and strengthen coordination between monetary and fiscal policies

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the determinants of income inequality in Sumatra Island. The variables examined consist of GDP per capita, agricultural sector GDP, agricultural employment, school participation rate, open unemployment rate, and female labor force participation across 10 provinces in Sumatra from 2015 to 2022. This research employs panel data analysis, and based on the model selection tests conducted, the Fixed Effect Model (FEM) was identified as the most appropriate model. The results indicate that GDP per capita has a negative and significant effect on income inequality, implying that higher regional income contributes to reducing inequality in Sumatra. Likewise, the school participation rate and female labor force participation show negative and significant effects, suggesting that better access to education and greater involvement of women in the labor market play an essential role in narrowing the income gap.Meanwhile, agricultural employment has a negative but insignificant effect on income inequality, indicating that the agricultural labor sector has not yet contributed meaningfully to reducing inequality. Furthermore, agricultural GDP and the open unemployment rate have positive but insignificant effects, demonstrating that increases in these variables do not have a substantial impact on income distribution. Overall, the findings highlight the importance of economic growth, education, and female workforce participation in addressing income inequality in Sumatra.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) per capita, poverty rate, and government expenditure on the Human Development Index (HDI) in West Sumatra Province. The study employs panel data from 12 regencies and 7 cities over the period 2020–2024. The analytical method used is panel data regression with the Fixed Effect Model (FEM) approach. The results indicate that GRDP per capita has a positive and significant effect on HDI, the poverty rate has a negative but insignificant effect on HDI, while government expenditure has a positive and significant effect on HDI. Simultaneously, the three variables significantly influence HDI in West Sumatra. These findings emphasize the importance of increasing community income and enhancing the effectiveness of regional budget management to support human development, as well as the need for strategic policies to mitigate the impact of poverty.
