Abstract

This study examines the role of labor market activities and the household sphere in shaping household economic well-being, particularly through the contribution of women's working hours. Using the 2023 National Socioeconomic Survey (SUSENAS) microdata, this study analyzes the influence of women's working hours on household economic well-being in West Sumatra, measured through household expenditure, using the Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) regression method. The results show that women's working hours have a positive and significant effect on household economic well-being, indicating that increasing women's working time allocation strengthens family economic capacity through additional income. Furthermore, women's individual characteristics and household structure also play a significant role in influencing expenditure levels. These findings confirm that women's labor supply is a key determinant of household well-being and emphasize the importance of gender-responsive employment policies to improve household well-being and economic resilience in West Sumatra.

Abstract

Abstract

This study motivated by the importance of digital transformation in promoting economic growth in Indonesia and the limited empirical studies that simultaneously examine the effects of internet access, e-commerce and information technology expenditure at the provincial level. The objective of this study is to analyze the impact of internet access, e-commerce and information technology expenditure on economic growth in Indonesia. This research uses secondary data form Statistics Indonesia (BPS) covering 34 provinces during the period 2019-2023 and applies panel data regression with the Random Effect Model as the selected model. The results show that internet access has a positive and significant effect on economic growth, while e-commerce has a positive and significant effect with a one period lag. Meanwhile, information technology expenditure has a negative and significant effect on economic growth. Simultaneously, all independent variables significantly influence economic growth in Indonesia. These findings indicate that digital connectivity and e-commerce utilization contribute to economic performance, yet the effectiveness of information technology expenditure needs improvement. Therefore, the government is advised to enhance digital infrastructure, strengthen digital literacy and improve the efficiency and governance of information technology spending to support inclusive and sustainable economic growth.

The type of data used in this study is secondary data using panel data which is a combination of 2020-2024 time series data and cross-section data of 20 G20 member countries. The research was obtained from publications of the World Bank and other related agencies. The analysis used was descriptive analysis and inductive analysis. For the inductive analysis, this study employed panel data regression with a fixed effects model. The results showed that exports have a positive and significant effect on GDP per capita in G20 countries. The export variable has a positive and significant effect on GDP per capita in G20 countries. Furthermore, the import variable has a negative and significant effect on GDP per capita in G20 countries. The inflation variable has a positive but insignificant effect on GDP per capita in G20 countries. Abstract

This study scrutinizes the determinants of Non-Performing Loan (NPL) ratio within conventional banking institutions in Indonesia over the interval spanning from the first quarter of 2012 to the second quarter of 2025. The inquiry investigates both bank specific constituents, namely the Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR), a proxy for profitability (Return on Assets/ROA), and the Loan to Deposit Ratio (LDR), alongside macroeconomic externalities, including economic growth (GDP), Inflation (CPI), and lending interest rates. Employing quarterly time series data, the Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) model is utilized to delineate short - term fluctuations and ascertain long-run cointegration. The bound test substantiates a robust cointegrating relationship among the variables, evidenced by an F-Statistic of 15.421, which exceeds the upper bound critical threshold at the 1% significance level. Estimation outcomes reveal that ROA emerges as the most dominant determinant, exerting a negative and significant influence, a finding consistent with the Bad Management Hypothesis. Conversely, CAR and lending rates demonstrate a positive and significant impact, aligning with Agency Theory and Credit Cycles Theory. Economic growth exhibits a negative and significant effect, thereby corroborating the Procyclicality Theory. Meanwhile, LDR and Inflation are found to exert no significant influence over the long term. The error Correction Model indicates a highly stable adjustment mechanism, with an exceptionally rapid speed of convergence amounting to 90.09% per quarter. These findings imply that sustaining bank profitability and implementing prudent lending rate policies are imperative for controlling NPLs. Consequently, regulatory authorities ought to monitor not only the adequacy of capital but also the behavior tendencies of banks in deploying their excess capital.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of transfer funds to regions, tax ratio, and open unemployment rate on poverty in Sumatra Island. The method used is panel data regression. The regression results show that transfer funds to the regions have no significant effect and are positively related to poverty. Meanwhile, the tax ratio and the open unemployment rate have a significant effect and are positively related to poverty. The findings of this study underscore the importance of optimizing the utilization of transfer funds, improving local tax performance, and encouraging sustainable job creation. To reduce poverty in Sumatra Island, local governments need to improve the quality of public spending, broaden the tax base, and strengthen employment policies.

Abstract

This research aims to assess the effect of economic factors on the level of educated unemployment in West Sumatra Province. Educated unemployment is defined as individuals who have completed secondary or higher education but have not yet secured employment. The independent variables analyzed in this study include economic growth, the Human Development Index (HDI), population size, and employment opportunities. The study utilizes panel data covering 19 districts and cities over the period from 2014 to 2023. The analytical method employed is panel data regression using the Fixed Effect Model (FEM). The results reveal that economic growth, population size, and employment opportunities have a negative and significant influence on educated unemployment. This indicates that increases in these variables tend to lower the unemployment rate among educated individuals. In contrast, the HDI exhibits a positive but statistically insignificant effect, suggesting that improvements in quality of life have not yet directly contributed to reducing unemployment

Abstract

This study aims to determine the extent of the impact of renewable energy on environmental quality in ASEAN countries. This study uses secondary data sourced from the World Bank from 1990 to 2023 with research variables grouped into three parts, namely the dependent variable, which in this study is defined as environmental quality, and independent variables, namely renewable energy, as well as control variables used in this study, namely economic openness, urbanization, foreign direct investment (FDI), gross domestic product (GDP), and forest area. This study uses panel data regression analysis with a cross section of 7 countries in ASEAN and a time series from 1990 to 2023. The results show that renewable energy has a positif effect on environmental quality, as measured by carbon dioxide (CO2) emission levels. Therefore, it has the potential to reduce CO2 emission levels in ASEAN countries.
