Abstract

Household waste is one of the growing environmental issues, especially in rural areas. One potential solution is processing household waste into organic fertilizer, which is beneficial for agriculture and plants. The aim of this training was to provide knowledge and skills to the women of the PKK group in Sidemen Village, West Lombok, on how to manage household waste into organic fertilizer (stool). The training activities involved both theoretical and practical methods, where participants were introduced to the types of waste that can be processed, as well as efficient and eco-friendly techniques for producing organic fertilizer. The results of the training showed that the women of the PKK in Sidemen Village were able to implement household waste processing techniques into organic fertilizer that can support food security in their environment. It is hoped that this training not only reduces the amount of waste disposed of but also increases awareness of the importance of sustainable waste management.

Abstract

Alcoholic beverages are one of the problems that often affect adolescent behavior and health, especially in rural areas such as Janapria Village. This study aims to identify the main causes of alcohol consumption among adolescents and to design effective mentoring efforts to reduce its impact. The research method used is a qualitative approach involving in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and focus group discussions (FGDs) with adolescents, parents, and local community leaders. The results of the study indicate that the main factors driving alcohol consumption among adolescents include social environmental influences, a lack of awareness about the negative impacts, and a shortage of positive activities for youth. The mentoring program implemented includes education about the dangers of alcohol, the development of life skills, and strengthening the role of families and communities in supporting a healthy lifestyle. Evaluation results show a decrease in alcohol consumption among adolescents after the program was implemented. This study concludes that community-based mentoring is an effective approach to addressing the issue of alcohol consumption among rural adolescents.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the synergy between mentoring in the economic, health, and legal sectors to improve the well-being of the community in Lekor Village, Janapria Subdistrict, Central Lombok Regency. The mentoring activities were carried out using a participatory approach, actively involving local residents in every stage of the process. In the economic sector, the mentoring program focused on entrepreneurship training, small business management, and access to markets for local products. In terms of health, activities were directed at raising community awareness about the importance of clean and healthy living behaviors (PHBS) and improving access to basic healthcare services. Meanwhile, in the legal sector, the main focus was on educating the community about their rights, providing legal counseling, and enhancing legal awareness. The findings indicate that an integrated and sustainable approach across these three sectors can drive significant improvements in living standards, increase income, promote environmental health, and strengthen legal understanding among residents. Collaboration between village authorities, facilitators, and the community was identified as a key factor contributing to the success of the program. This study highlights the importance of strengthening local capacity and ensuring the continuity of cross-sectoral mentoring to promote inclusive and competitive village development.

Abstract

The mangrove ecosystem plays a vital role in maintaining coastal environmental balance, serving as a natural barrier against abrasion and as a breeding ground for various marine species. However, in many areas—including Jerowaru Village in East Lombok—mangrove degradation occurs due to environmentally harmful human activities and a lack of public awareness regarding the importance of this ecosystem. This study aims to analyze the environmental communication strategies implemented and the extent of community involvement in mangrove conservation efforts in the region. The research employed a qualitative approach, using data collection techniques such as in-depth interviews, field observations, and document studies. The findings indicate that participatory communication involving community leaders, youth groups, and local institutions is more effective in raising awareness and fostering collective action than top-down approaches. The use of traditional media and community discussion forums also plays a significant role in disseminating information and building long-term commitment to conservation. Active community participation not only accelerates the mangrove rehabilitation process but also strengthens a sense of ownership and collective responsibility toward the environment. Thus, participation-based communication strategies are key to ensuring the sustainability of mangrove conservation programs in Jerowaru Village. These findings offer recommendations for policymakers and environmental practitioners to prioritize collaborative approaches in similar coastal programs elsewhere.

Abstract

The Merdeka Curriculum emphasizes the importance of student-centered learning, with differentiated instruction as one of its core pedagogical approaches. However, many teachers still face challenges in translating this concept into contextual and adaptive lesson planning. This program aimed to improve teachers’ conceptual understanding and practical skills in designing differentiated instructional materials responsive to student diversity. The activity was conducted at SMPN 1 Pringgasela, East Lombok Regency, involving 35 elementary and junior high school teachers from various schools in the Pringgasela sub-district. The methods included material dissemination, case analysis, independent practice, as well as reflection and evaluation sessions. The results showed a significant improvement in participants’ understanding of differentiated instruction principles and the emergence of initial competence in developing adaptive lesson plans. These findings suggest that participatory and practice-based training approaches are effective in enhancing teacher capacity. Further training and technical mentoring are recommended to support the sustainable implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum at the school level.

Abstract

The issue of agricultural organic waste management remains a challenge at the farmer level, especially in rural areas such as Langko Village, Janapria District. Corn plant waste, such as stalks and leaves, is often discarded without being utilized, even though it has the potential to be processed into compost or animal feed. This study aims to implement and evaluate the effectiveness of an innovative solar-powered portable organic waste shredder in supporting sustainable agricultural practices. The machine is designed using a 200-watt solar panel system with a shredding capacity of approximately 50 kg/hour. The implementation methods include socialization, technical training, and field trials on corn fields owned by local farmer groups. The results show that the use of the machine significantly accelerates the shredding process by up to 60% compared to manual methods. Additionally, the use of solar energy reduces dependence on fossil fuels and operational costs. Farmers responded very positively, with 87% expressing interest in continuing to use the device. This innovation is considered effective, environmentally friendly, and suitable for small to medium-scale farming. These findings recommend the adoption of similar technology in other agricultural regions with comparable characteristics. Future development can focus on increasing machine capacity and integrating it with automatic composting systems.

Abstract

Forest rehabilitation is a strategic effort to maintain ecosystem sustainability and mitigate climate change. Jeruk Manis Village, located in Sikur Subdistrict, East Lombok Regency, is one of the areas with forest zones that have suffered significant degradation due to human activities and environmental pressures. This community service initiative aims to empower local communities in forest rehabilitation efforts through the application of geospatial technology as a tool for planning and monitoring. The activities were carried out using a participatory approach, including training in participatory mapping using Geographic Information System (GIS) applications, identification of critical lands, and replanting of degraded forest areas. The results of the activities showed increased community capacity in understanding the use of geospatial technology for forest area mapping, as well as greater collective awareness of the importance of forest conservation. In addition, the community was able to produce basic spatial maps that can serve as references for sustainable rehabilitation programs. The application of geospatial technology has proven effective in strengthening community involvement and enhancing efficiency in the rehabilitation process. It is hoped that this initiative can serve as a model for community empowerment that can be replicated in other areas with similar conditions. Collaboration between the community, village government, and the service team is the key to achieving inclusive and data-driven forest rehabilitation.
