Abstract

This research aims to find out the extent of character building differences (care, smart, dependent, and responsible) between the control group and Action Learning treated group.This research is quasi experiment in nature using the Non-equivalent Control Group Design. This research used Action Learning method applied in experiment group and conventional method (discussion, presentation, and exchange of ideas) in control group. The participant of this research was all students of grade VIII SMP Negeri 5 Surakarta 2012/2013. The sampling technique used was cluster sampling. As a result, VIII class participated as the experiment group and VIIIH participated as the control group. The data was collected using questionnaire, check point test, observation, and character rubric. Anacova was used to test the hypothesis with the covariant pre-test.The conclusion of this research is there are differences students? character building (care, smart, dependent, and responsible) between the control group with Action Learning treated group.  Keywords: Action Learning strategy,  character education, character

Abstract

The research aims to find out the differences of the analytical thinking skills in Problem Based Learning model equipped by Mind Maps with conventional class towards science first grade students of SMA Al Islam 1 Surakarta in the academic year 2013/2014. The research was quasi-experimental research with posttest only non-equivalent control group design. The population of the research was all of science first grade students SMA Al Islam 1 Surakarta in the academic year 2013/1014. The techniques of collecting data are test and non-test methods. The form of test method is essay, whereas the forms of non-test method are documentation and observation sheets. Data were analyzed by T-test, Kolmogorof-Smirnov test, and Levene's test with SPSS 16. The results show that there are some differences in the analytical thinking skills in Problem Based Learning model equipped by Mind Maps with conventional class towards science first grade students of SMA Al Islam 1 Surakarta in the academic year 2013/2014. The application of the learning model of Problem Based Learning equipped by Mind Map has the higher average than the application of conventional methods. The observation results indicate the resemblance of Problem Based Learning with the Mind Map syntax. The result of the T-test shows a significant difference (sig <0.05) towards the analytical thinking skills between the control class and the experimental class T-test value is 0.009. The results of this study can be concluded that there are some differences in the analytical thinking skills towards Problem Based Learning model equipped by Mind Maps with conventional class towards science first grade students of SMA Al Islam 1 Surakarta in the academic year 2013/2014. Referring to the differences of the analytical thinking skills mean, the application of Problem Based Learning model equipped by Mind Maps can affect the analytical thinking skills students to be better. Abstract

ABSTRACT - This research aims to ascertain whether or not the application Socratic Circles method with images media affects the student?s creative thinking skill.This research is considered quasi-experiment research.  The research was designed using Posttest-Only Control Group Design by applying Socratic Circles method with images media in experimental group and lectures methods, discussions, and presentations in control group.  The population of this research were all strudents in X grade of SMA Negeri 2 Boyolali in academic year 2011/ 2012. The sample of this research was established by Cluster Random Sampling, in order to obtain class X-3 as experimental group and class X-2 as control group.  The data was collected by using tests, documentation and observation form.  The hypothesis was analized by using t-test. Abstract

ABSTRACT - This is an experimental research of which result is  implemented in the learning process of Biology subject in the Xth grade of senior high school. The objectives of this research are: (1) to find out kinds of fungal in  taro tape (Colocasia esculenta) according to their morphological characteristics, (2) to  find out the effect of the utilization of the research result of  identification  as a modul-based  learning source towards  the interpreting data skill  of the Xth grade  of SMA Al Islam 1 Surakarta Academic Year 2011/2012. The implementation of the research result towards biology learning process in the Xth grade of senior high school was a quasi-experimental research.  The independent variable in this research is the modul-based learning source whereas the dependent variable  is  the interpreting data skill.  The population of the  fungal identification in taro tape (colocasia esculenta) was all  the  fungal in taro tape. The population of the implementation of the research result towards the learning process of  fungal  chapter was  all of the students of the Xth  grade of  SMA Al Islam 1 Surakarta  Academic Year  2011/2012.  The sample of the implementation of the research result towards the learning process of  fungal  chapter of Biology subject consisted of two classes, i.e. control and experiment class. The sampling method used cluster random sampling. The data collecting technique of  fungal identification research was experimentation and documentation whereas the implementation of the research result towards the interpreting data skill used observation methods. The test of the hypothesis for  the implementation of the research result towards the learning process of biology used t-test. From the research, it can be concluded that (1) there are two kind  genus of fungal in taro tape, i.e. genus Saccharomyces dan genus Aspergillus which identified according to their morphological characteristics, (2) the utilization of the research result of fungal identification in taro tape (colocasia esculenta) a modul-based learning source has a tangible  impact towards the  interpreting data skill  of the xth  grade  of SMA Al Islam 1 Surakarta Academic Year 2011/2012. Abstract

The purpose of the research was to determine effect of Discovery Learning on student?s logical thinking skills of grade X MIA SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Surakarta academic year 2013/2014. The study was a quasi experimental research with a Posttest Only Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The population was all students of class X MIA SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Surakarta in the school year 2013/2014. The sampling technique was cluster sampling. Data collection techniques using tests and non-test methods. Independent sample t-test was used to test hypothesis. The result of hypothesis testing has a significance of 0.048. The average value of logical thinking test on control class was 4.41 and the experimental class was 5.19. The conclusion was Discovery Learning significant effect on student?s logical thinking skills of grade X MIA SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Surakarta academic year 2013/2014. Keywords : Discovery Learning, logical thinking skills, conventional learning

Abstract

ABSTRACT ? This research  aims at improving the creativity of learning biological science through active learning by using mind-map method towards eleventh grade students of science 3 program (XI A3) at SMA Negeri 1 Ngemplak, Boyolali. This research is a Classroom Action Research which was conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consists of four stages: planning, action, observation, and reflection. The subject of this research is the eleventh grade students of science 3 program (XI A3) at SMA Negeri 1 Ngemplak, Boyolali in 2010/2011 academic year. The data of this research were collected through observations, questionnaires, and interviews. The technique of data analysis uses descriptive analysis technique and the data validity was obtained by using the technique of triangulation method. The result of this research shows that the Classroom Action Research which was done through active learning by using mind-map method can give improvement towards the creativity of learning biological science towards the eleventh grade students of science 3 program (XI A3) at SMA Negeri 1 Ngemplak, Boyolali. It can be seen from the result of observations, questionnaires distribution, and interviews. The overall mean of percentage achievement score for each indicator based on the observation of students? creativity in the first cycle is about 76% and about 84.67% in the second cycle (with 8.67% increase). Meanwhile, the overall mean of percentage achievement score for each indicator based on questionnaires of students? creativity in the first cycle is about 77.43% and about 78.87% in the second cycle (with 1.44% increase). Based on the result, it can be concluded that the implementation of active learning by using mind-map method can improve the creativity of learning biological science towards the eleventh grade students of science 3 program (XI A3) at SMA Negeri 1 Ngemplak, Boyolali. Abstract

ABSTRACT ? The purposes of the research is to increase students learning activities through the implementation of inquiring minds want to know learning strategy in students of X-7 Class SMA Negeri 5 Surakarta School Years 2011/ 2012.  This research is a  Classroom Action Research    with  2  cycle of action. Each cycle consisting of 4 phases which is planning, action, observation, and reflection. Observational subject is students of X-7 Class SMA Negeri 5 Surakarta school years 2011  / 2012. Observational data  obtained from the questionnaire, observation, and interview. Technical analysis of data is using descriptive qualitative. Validate data by use of triangulation techic.  Result of the research to prove that with action performing through learning strategy purpose  inquiring minds want to know  can increase students learning activities in students of X-7 Class SMA Negeri 5 Surakarta School Years 2011/ 2012. Averagely assesses percentage each indicator of students  learning activities based on questionnaire data for pre cycle was 72,62%, first cycle was 78,07% (worked up 5,45%) and second cycle was 81,36% (worked up 3,29%). Meanwhile on a percentage point each indicator of students  learning activities based on observation data for pre cycle was 71,31% and first cycle was 71,40% (worked up 0,09%). Averagely assesses percentage each indicator of students learning activities  based on observation data for second cycle was 79,01%  (worked up 8,61%). The result of interview with student indicates that implementation of  inquiring minds want to know  learning strategy can increase student curiousity by search in any information source. Base that result gets to be concluded that learning strategy purpose  inquiring minds want to know  can increase students learning activities of X-7 Class SMA Negeri 5 Surakarta School Years 2011/ 2012. Abstract

ABSTRACT ? The  research is classroom action research. The aim is to improve class climate and student?s learning motivation in class X-1 of SMA Batik 1 Surakarta by integrating ICT media into collaborative learning approach  that implemented in biology learning  process.  This act is based on the biology learning process observation  in class X-1 where   researcher found some learning problems. They are class  climate  and  student?s  learning motivation. Based on literatures  study, we give solution to improve them by integrating ICT media into collaborative learning approach.  Main data  is  collected from questioner  and    observation. While additional data is taken from interview, documentation, and test. Validation data uses triangulation and expert team. The act of research consists  of two cycles. Research target is 65% for class climate and 60% for student?s learning  motivation. The result of cycle  1 describes that generally the research target is accomplished not optimally. Percentage of class climate is 65,54% and student?s learning motivation  is 72,58%. The result of cycle  2 describes that generally the research target is accomplished optimally.  Percentage of class  climate  is  73,65%  and  student?s learning motivation is 77,30%. This cycle stopped here because targets accomplished optimally. Class climate and student?s learning motivation increase well.  This learning approach can improve targets because it?s syntax  support student?s  interaction and  interest. The conclusion of this research describes that integration ICT media into collaborative learning approach can improve  class climate and student?s learning motivation in class X-1 of SMA Batik 1 Surakarta. Abstract

The aims the research determine the effect of the application guided discovery learning model with guided inquiry-based learning module concercing to naturalistic intelligence student grade VII at SMP Muhammadiyah 8 Surakarta in academic year 2014/2015. This study included in the quasi-experimental research. The study design was a Post-Test Only Nonequivalent Group using experimental class (guided discovery learning with the learning modules) and the control class (guided discovery learning). The population of this research was all students VII grade of SMP Muhammadiyah 8 Surakarta in academic year 2014/2015. The sampling technique using cluster sampling method and taken two classes, one class as the experiment and the class as a control. Data collection techniques using test descriptions, observation sheets, and school documents. Hypothesis testing using t-test. The results showed that the students' intelligence naturalistic experimental group and the control group was significantly different. The experimental group value of average general naturalistic intelligence 53.087 with a value 2,63 of  classifying aspects and 1.35 of know. Control group with a value of naturalistic intelligence 45,810 with classifying aspects 2,30 and know aspect 1,29. Based on the research proficiency level can be concluded that the application of guided discovery learning model with guided inquiry learning modules affect to the naturalistic intelligence at seventh grade students of SMP Muhammadiyah 8 Surakarta in academic year 2014/2015. Keywords: guided discovery learning, learning module, naturalistic intelligence

Abstract

ABSTRACT ? This research aims to find out: (1) the effect of guided inquiry learning strategy use on the learning outcomes in the cognitive domains  of VIII graders of SMP Negeri (Public Junior High School) 1 Jaten; (2) the effect of the learning style on the learning outcomes in the cognitive domains  of  VIII  graders of  SMP  Negeri 1 Jaten;  and (3) the interaction between the learning strategy and  learning style on the learning outcomes in the cognitive domains of VIII graders of SMP Negeri 1 Jaten. This study was a quasi-experiment research using Randomized Control Only Design. The learning strategy and learning style served as independent variable and learning outcomes in the cognitive domains served as dependent variable. The population of research was the even semester of VIII graders of SMP Negeri 1 Jaten in the school year of 2011/2012. The sample of research was the VIII E graders as control group and VIII B graders as the experiment group. The sampling technique used was ?Cluster Random Sampling?. Techniques of collecting data used for collecting data on learning outcomes in the cognitive domains were test. The measurement of biology learning style was done using questionnaire. Technique of analyzing data used was a two-way variance analysis (ANAVA) and Bunfferoni follow-up test. The conclution of the research are: 1) Guided Inquiry learning strategy affected significantly the learning outcomes in the cognitive domains of  the VIII graders of SMP Negeri 1 Jaten; 2) Learning style did not affect the learning outcomes in the cognitive domains of the VIII graders of SMP Negeri 1 Jaten; and 3) there was no interaction between learning strategy and learning style on the learning outcomes in the cognitive domains of the VIII graders of SMP Negeri 1 Jaten.
