Abstract

The purpose of the research was to know  there was difference of critical thinking skill between INSTAD learning model combained concept map and conventional learning in studying biology of second grade students SMA Negeri 4 Surakarta specify on sains in 2012/2013 academic year.Quasy experiment and post-test only with nonequivalent group design were applied in this research. The populations were the second grade students of SMA Negeri 4 Surakarta specify on sains in 2012/2013 academic year. It was 188 students. The samples were 62 students that taken using cluster sampling technique in the form of two classes and placed into experimental class and comparitional class. The critical thinking skill information was determined by essay test with Facione?s critical thinking skill indicators. The demographic information was collected by a researcher ?made questionnaire and observation sheet. T-test was used for data analysis.The t-test?s value was -4,926 and significance value was 0,000 (lower than 0.05). The syntax of INSTAD learning model combained concept map had done well. Students agreed that INSTAD learning model combained concept map could train their critical thinking skill. There was difference of critical thinking skill between INSTAD learning model combained concept map and conventional learning in studying biology of  second grade students SMA Negeri 4 Surakarta specify on sains in 2012/2013 academic year. Keyword: critical thinking skill, INSTAD learning model combained concept map, conventional learning

Abstract

ABSTRACT ? The research is aimed to developing an items test and questionnaire analysis software in order that facilitate students of Biology Education Department, Sebelas Maret University who are conducting research in schools  to analyzing the items test and questionnaire. The software is AN Soft 1.0 that has functions to facilitate the user in analyzing the items test and questionnaire. The software is based on Microsoft Visual Foxpro 9.0 with Microsoft Office 2007 and 2010 as controllers. The research is belonged to Research and Development Method (R & D) (Borg, WR and Gall, MD, 1989) with the following research stages. Research and initial data collection, planning, making the initial product, the initial product  test, the initial product improvements, field test, operational and product improvements. The research involves the following trial subjects. (1) The initial test involving an educational expert, visual communication expert, and information technology expert. (2) The small trial group involves 30 students of Biology Education Department, Sebelas Maret University. (3) The large trial group involves 50 students of Biology Education Department, Sebelas Maret University. The data was analyzed using qualitative descriptive approach that describes and interprets the qualitative data. Before the data was analyzed, carried out the quantification of data from the questionnaires and the assessment form then the data was analyzed qualitatively. The interviews data was analyzed qualitatively. The results of field test 1 and 2 showed that there is an increasing percentage of the total score from all aspects. The results of the questionnaire showed that the rate of interesting on AN Soft 1.0 users increased from 85.33% to 89.8% is classified as very strong, the ease of installing Soft AN 1.0 increased from 84.33% to 94.2% is classified as very strong, The ease of operations AN Soft 1.0 increased from 84% to 93.4% is classified as very strong, and the mastery level of AN Soft 1.0 users increased from 81% to 90.6% which is classified as very strong. Based on the results, it was concluded the developing of items test and questionnaire analysis software product can be facilitating users to analysis items test and questionnaire in accordance with the rules of proper instruments analysis. Abstract

ABSTRACT ? This  research aimed for  improving studentachievementin learning process on Biology by implementation of  Survey, Question, Read, Recite, and Review  (SQ3R) strategy of  grade XI  IPA  2 SMA Negeri 1 Banyudono academic years 2011 / 2012.  This research is aclassroom  action research that was included 2 cycles of action. Each cycles consisting of 4 phase which areplanning, action, observation, and reflection. The subjects of this research were students grade XI IPA 2 SMA Negeri 1 Banyudonoacademic years 2011  / 2012.  Source  of  data  derived  from  the questionnaire, observation,  test  and interview. Technical analysis of data was using descriptive analysis. Data validation was using methods triangulation. The results of this research showed that the implementation  Survey, Question, Read, Recite, and Review  (SQ3R)  strategy  could improve  student achievement  in learning process on Biology  of  grade XI IPA 2 SMA Negeri 1 Banyudonoacademic years 2011 / 2012.  The  average  percentage based on questionnaire  student  achievement of  psychomotorindicators was  75,49% forCycle Iand  80,02%  forCycle II(worked up  4,53%).  The average  percentage based on  questionnaire  student  achievement of  affective  indicators was  69,48% forCycle Iand  78,09%  forCycle II  (worked up  8,61%).  The average  percentage based on observation student achievement of psychomotor  indicators for Cycle I was 57,81% and 67,60% forCycle II (worked up 9,79%). The average percentage based on observation student achievement of affective   indicators for Cycle I was 55,35% and  63,76%  forCycle II  (worked up  8,41%).  The average  percentage student  achievement of cognitivebased on evaluation test  for Cycle I  was 74,84and   85,63for Cycle II (worked up   10,79).Based on the result could be conclude that  implementation  of  Survey, Question, Read, Recite, and Review (SQ3R)  strategy  had improvedstudent achievement  in learning process on Biologyof grade XI IPA 2 SMA Negeri 1 Banyudono. Abstract

The aim of this research is to ascertain the influence of collaborative- constructivist learning models toward critical thinking ability of X grade students at SMA Negeri 2 Karanganyar in academic year 2012/2013.  This research was quasi experiment research which used posttest only nonequivalent control group design.  The population of this research was all of X grade students at SMA Negeri 2 Karanganyar in academic year 2012/2013.   Sampling techniques used cluster sampling that choosed X6 as experiment group and X7 as control group. Data was collected using test and non test.  Test method using critical thinking test. Non test method using observation sheet and document.  The hypotheses analyzed by t-test. This research concluded that application of collaborative- constructivist learning models has real influential toward critical thinking ability of X grade students at SMA Negeri 2 Karanganyar. Key Words: Collaborative-Constructivist Learning Model, Critical Thinking Ability

Abstract

ABSTRACT ? The purpose of this research are: 1) to ascertain the influence of guided inquiry models with diagram V (Vee) on biology learning toward critical thinking skills of 10thgrade students at SMA Negeri Gondangrejo in academic year 2011/2012, 2) to ascertain the influence of guided inquiry models with diagram V (Vee) on biology learning toward learning achievement of 10thgrade students at SMA Negeri Gondangrejo in academic year 2011/2012. The research was quasi experiment research using quantitative approach. The research was designed using posttest only control design. The populations of this research were all of 10thdegree students at SMA Negeri Gondangrejo Karanganyar in academic year 2011/2012. The sample of this research was established by cluster random sampling. The samples of this research were the students of 10th-1 as experiment group and 10th-2 as control group. Experimental group applied guided inquiry models with diagram V (Vee). Control group applied conventional learning models specifically speech varies with experiment accompanied a simple summary. The data was collected by document, test, observation form, and questionnaire. The hypothesis analyzed by t-test with help of SPSS 16. The research concluded that the influence of guided inquiry models with  diagram V (Vee) on biology learning had significant effect toward critical thinking skills of 10thgrade students at SMA Negeri Gondangrejo in academic year 2011/2012 with significant value is 0,041. The influence of guided inquiry models with diagram V (Vee) on biology learning had significant effect toward learning achievement of 10thgrade students at SMA Negeri Gondangrejo in academic year 2011/2012 with significant value cognitive domain is 0,013; psychomotor domain is 0,000 by observation form and 0,001 by questionnaire; affective domain is 0,000 by observation form and 0,005 by questionnaire. Abstract

ABSTRACT - This research aims to find out the effect of the implementation  Active Knowledge Sharing learning strategy with module of the research on review of sub scientific methodology learning achievement of the class X at SMA Negeri 2 Sukoharjo. This study is a quasi-experimental studies which use Posstest Only Control Group Design. The independent variable in this research is the application of cooperative learning, the  Active Knowledge Sharing where as the dependent variable is students? achievement in learning biology at 3 levels?. Namely, cognitive, affective and psychomotor. The population of the study is the entire of class X at SMA Negeri 2 Sukoharjo in academic year 2011/2012. The samples is taken upon control group and treatment group. The sample is taken by using Cluster Random Sampling method. The data are collected by using test (for cognitive achievement) where as for the affective and psychomotor aspects the data are taken by using observation methods. The obtained data that is analyzed by using t-test.The result shows the implementation of Active Knowledge Sharinglearning strategy with module of the research on review of sub scientific methodology has taken good effect towards students? achievement in affective and psychomotor aspects, but has not on the cognitive achievement students in class X of Surakarta SMA Negeri 2 Sukoharjo. Abstract

This research aimed to find out whether or not there is an effect of Predict Observe Explain Write on the critical thinking ability of the X graders of SMA Negeri 2 Sukoharjo in academic year on 2012/2013..This study was a quasi experiment research. Posstet only nonequivalent control group design is used in this research. The population of research was all X grades of SMA Negeri 2 Sukoharjo in academic year 2012/2013 consisiting 285 students. Cluster sampling.is used to this research. The result of cluster sampling is choosen for X6 as experimental gruop and X7 as control group. Predict observe explain write model is applied in experimental group and conventional model is applied in control group.  The data was collected by using critical thinking test, observastion sheet, and school documents. The data were analyzed by t-test.The results of this research shows that the mean of student?s capability of critical thinking in experiment class higher than control class, it was 70,41 for experiment class and 61,98 for control class.  The result of hypothesis is analyzed by t-test and it gets significant value 0,000 (sig.<0,05), so the Predict Observe Explain Write model has effect toward student?s capability of critical thinking.This conclution is the application of Predict Observe Explain Write models has real effect toward critical thinking ability of X grade students at SMA Negeri 2 Sukoharjo in academic year on 2012/2013 . Keywords: Predict Observe Explain model, Think Talk Write strategy, Critical Thinking Ability

Abstract

 The purpose  of  this  research  is  to  compare  the  un-integrated  experimental  and  lecture teaching methods. In the un-integrated experimental teaching method, the students are given a concept chartfirst.  The subject matter of this research is the movement on plants; This research used experimental method with randomized control-group  only design.  The populations are the second grade students of SMU Batik 2 Surakarta, year 2013/2014  The sample is 86 students that taken using cluster random sampling technique. The first  data are taken from  the value of once grade students  of an odd semester.  They are used to test the early ability of students.  The second data are gotten from post test. Data are analyzed using t-test.  The conclusion of this research is that the teaching using un-integrated experimental methods is more effective to increase the achievement of students than conventional method.. Keywords:     un-integrated experimental method, convention method, student achievement

Abstract

ABSTRACT ? This research aims was  to find out  the use of video as media learning toward the students  achievement of the class X at SMA Negeri 2 Karanganyar.  This  study was a quasi-experimental studies which use Randomized Control-Group Only Design. The independent variable  in this research is video as media learning and the dependent variable  was biology students? achievement. The population of the study was the entire students of X second semester classes SMA Negeri 2 Karanganyar 2010/2011 school year. The sample of the study was  the students of X.6 class as the control group and the students of X.5 class as the experiment group.  The sample  was  taken by using Cluster Random Sampling method. The  data are collected by using test for cognitive achievement and the observation methods was used to find out the  learning effectivity and psychomotor domain. The technique of  data analysis by using t-test. The result shows the use of video as media learning was significantly influences the students? achievement in cognitive and psychomotor aspect, but did not give effects improve the affective  achievement  of class X  at  SMA Negeri 2 Karanganyar Keywords: Media, Video Learning, Learning Achievement, The Air Pollution.

Abstract

ABSTRACT ? The aim of the research was to know the influence of Group Investigation type (GI) of cooperative learning model toward science process skill and biology learning achievement of X degree students at SMA Negeri 4 Surakarta in the academic year of 2011/2012. The methodology of the research was quasi-experimental with quantitative approach. The research designs were post-test only control group by using experimental class (the implementation of Group Investigation (GI) of cooperative learning model) and control class (conventional learning). The population of this research is all of X degree students at SMA Negeri 4 Surakarta in 2011/2012 academic year. The  sample was taken by using cluster random sampling technique, with the result that XB  class as experimental group and XA class as control group. The technique of collecting data used test, observation paper and the school document. The data was analyzed by using t-test. This research concluded that Group Investigation type (GI) of cooperative learning model was significantly effective toward science process skill and biology learning achievement of X degree students at SMA Negeri 4 Surakarta in the academic year of 2011/2012.
