Abstract

The purpose of the research was to find out the difference of higher order thinking skills of grade X students after being treated with discovery learning  model with employing seashore ecosystem and conventional learning.The research was a quasi experiment with postest only nonequivalent control group design. The population of the research was all student of grade X of SMA N I Tanjungsari, and sample was selected through cluster sampling. Data was collected using test and non-test method. Test method is high order thinking essays, which consisted of analytical thinking skills (C4), evaluate thinking skills (C5), and creative thinking skills (C6). Non-test method was observation and documentation. Hypothesis test used the t-test with SPSS 16 version.The conclusion of the research is there was a difference of higher order thinking skills between application of discovery learning combined with seashore ecosystem and conventional learning of grade X students of SMA N I Tanjungsari. Students of grade X performed best on evaluate thinking skills.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan keaktifan belajar biologi siswa kelas VII-E SMP Negeri 16 Surakarta tahun pelajaran 2010/2011 melalui penerapan strategi pembelajaran Active Knowledge Sharing disertai media video.Penelitian ini merupakan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (Classroom Action Research). Penelitian mengacu pada model spiral dimana penelitian dilakukan dalam beberapa siklus untuk mencapai target yang sudah ditetapkan. Setiap siklus terdiri dari perencanaan, tindakan, observasi, refleksi. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas VII-E SMP Negeri 16 Surakarta tahun pelajaran 2010/2011. Sumber data diperoleh dari guru dan siswa, tempat dan peristiwa berlangsungnya pembelajaran dan dokumentasi atau arsip. Teknik pengumpulan data dengan observasi, angket dan wawancara. Pemeriksaan validitas data dengan menggunakan teknik triangulasi metode dan teknik analisis yang digunakan adalah deskripsif kualitatif.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan peningkatan persentase keaktifan belajar biologi siswa pada masing-masing aspek yang terdiri atas visual activities, oral activities, listening activities, writing activities, drawing activities, motor activities, mental activities, emotional activities.  Rata-rata persentase setiap aspek keaktifan belajar biologi siswa pra siklus sebesar 47,5% sedangkan dilihat dari setiap indikator rata-rata persentase sebesar 56,38%. Setelah diberikan tindakan pada siklus I rata-rata persentase tiap aspek sebesar 69,01% dan rata rata setiap indikator sebesar 69,96%, seluruh aspek keaktifan belajar biologi siswa mengalami perbaikan, kenaikan persentase terdapat pada aspek oral activities. Refleksi pada siklus I menunjukkan beberapa siswa masih bekerja secara individual daripada berdiskusi dan bertukar pengetahuan dengan kelompoknya sehingga diskusi tidak berjalan dengan baik, sehingga diperlukan revisi tindakan pada siklus II. Rata-rata persentase aspek keaktifan belajar biologi siswa pada siklus II sebesar 82,11% sedangkan dilihat dari capaian rata rata indikator sebesar 82,81%, seluruh aspek mengalami perbaikan sesuai target. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah penerapan strategi Active Knowledge Sharing disertai media video dapat meningkatkan keaktifan belajar biologi siswa kelas VII-E SMP Negeri 16 Surakarta tahun pelajaran 2010/2011.

Abstract

Senyawa aktif Gamma Amino Butyric Acid (GABA) merupakan asam amino yang terdapat di otak mammalia dan berperan sebagai neurotransmiter.  Selain pada sistem saraf pusat, GABA juga terdapat dalam konsentrasi tinggi di sel β pankreas serta memiliki potensi sebagai antidiabetes. GABA dapat disintesis oleh hewan, bakteri asam laktat dan tumbuhan.  Penelitian dilakukan dengan tujuan mendeteksi keberadaan GABA dalam bagian tumbuhan yaitu daun Artocarpus altilis.  Deteksi dilakukan dengan Kromatografi Lapis Tipis (KLT) menggunakan fase diam plat silika, fase gerak BAW(3:1:1), dan GABA murni sebagai pembanding.  Larutan GABA dibuat dengan pelarut etanol:air (7:3).  Hasil penelitian menunjukkan GABA terdeteksi pada ekstrak daun Artocarpus altilis.

Abstract

This research is aim to find out the different comprehension of human respiration system concept in the Novick type of constructivism learning with concept map and the varied lecturing learning. This study was a quasi-experimental research using Post-test Only With Nonequivalent Groups research design. The sampling technique used was Cluster Sampling one. The populations of this research were all of 11th degree students of science at SMA Negeri 2 Karanganyar in academic year 2012/2013. The samples of this research were the students of 11th Imersi I as experiment group and 11th Imersi II as control group. Technique of collecting data used was a  multiple choice test with reasoning, essay test, and observation sheet. The hypothesis testing was carried out using t-test. The conclusion of research that there isn’t different comprehension of human respiratory system concept between the Novick type of constructivism learning with concept map and the varied lecturing learning.

Abstract

Lemahnya argumentasi ilmiah mahasiswa dalam pembelajaran telah banyak menjadi perhatian,  terutama   dalam hal mengevaluasi dan mengkonstrak permasalahan dan solusinya.   Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana profil keterampilan argumentasi ilmiah mahasiswa pada mata kuliah Anatomi Tumbuhan. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif untuk mendapatkan gambaran keterampilan argumentasi mahasiswa semester 3 di Prodi Pendidikan Biologi FKIP UNS melalui tugas tertulis yang diberikan.  Penilaian argumentasi mahasiswa mengacu pada Toulmin’s Argumentation Pattern (TAP) yang memuat komponen claim, evidence, reasoning dan rebuttal.  Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan argumentasi ilmiah mahasiswa Pendidikan Biologi FKIP UNS masih tergolong rendah, dibuktikan dengan skor rerata claim sebesar 52%, evidence sebesar 42%, reasoning sebesar 15% dan rebuttal sebesar 10%.  Temuan ini akan dijadikan dasar bagi penelitian lanjutan mengenai model dan strategi pembelajaran inovatif yang dapat meningkatkan kemampuan argumentasi dan penalaran ilmiah terutama bagi calon guru biologi.

Abstract

ABSTRACT ? The purpose of this research was to improve the motivation and achievement of students in class XI-IPA III of SMA Negeri 1 Teras Boyolali in the academic year 2011/2012 through the implementation of Guided Inquiry learning model with Roundhouse techniques in learning Biology. This reseach was a Classroom Action Research. The reseach was conducted in several cycles, consisiting of planning, action, observation, and reflection to the subjects which were the eleventh grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Teras in the academic year 2011/2012. The data was collected through questionnaires, observation, tests, and interviews. In analyzing the data, the researcher used several methods: the motivational data validation used triangulation observer, and the cognitive learning outcomes used logical validations which were content and construct, while the affective and psychomotor observer used observation sheets. The data was analyzed by descriptive qualitative method. The result of the research showed that according to the data observation sheet, questionnaire ,and test results, the average percentage of motivational aspect increased from 68.91% in pre-cycle to 73.58% in cycle I and had improved to 76.40% in cycle II. In terms of cognitive learning achievement, it increased from 65.22% in pre-cycle to  71.71% in cycle I and had improved to 83.42% in cycle II. In terms of affective learning, it increased from 53.67% in pre-cycle to 72.31% in cycle I and had improved to 82.17% in cycle II. In terms of psychomotor learning, it was 71.19% in cycle I and increased to 78.09% in cycle II. The conclusion of this research is the application of Guided Inquiry learning model with roundhouse technique can improve the motivation and learning outcomes of students in class XI-IPA III of SMA Negeri 1 Teras Boyolali in the academic year 2011/2012.   Keywords: Learning motivation, Learning Outcomes, Guided Inquiry with Roundhouse technique

Abstract

ABSTRACT ? The aim of this research is improve quality of biology learning for conditioning class, student attitude in class, the performance of teacher and student motivation of learning in student class VII-D 1st Junior High School Of Jaten through the application of strategies for inquiry learning combined audio visual media. This research was classroom action research with planning, action, observation, and reflection steps. Data was collected using questionnaire, observation, and interview. The validation of data using method and observer triangulation techniques. The data analyzed by descriptive. The result in cycles I describes that mean of observation data in conditioning class indicators are 70,20%, students? attitudes in class are 62,77%, performance of teachers in the learning are 80% and students motivation in learning are 68,18%. For the questionnaire, observation data in conditioning class indicators are 74,53%, students? attitudes in class are 74,13%, and students motivation in learning are 74,38%. The result in cycles II describes that mean of observation data in conditioning class indicators are 80,81%, students? attitudes in class are 80.09%, performance of teachers in the learning are 96,67% and student motivation in learning are 83,71%. For the questionnaire, observation data in conditioning class indicators are 83,87%, students? attitudes in class are 82,49%, and students motivation in learning are 79,43%. In addition, this research also uses interview to know effect of research in quality of biology learning. The result of interview shows that students' attitudes more positive, students motivation more increase and classroom climate more conducive on learning activities. The conclusion of research describes that the combination of audio visual media in inquiry learning strategies can improve quality of biology learning for conditioning class, students' attitudes, performance of teachers in the learning and motivation of  learning in student class VII-D in 1st junior high school of jaten. Abstract

ABSTRACT ? The purposes of this research were to know: 1)  the influence of learning  strategy  toward achievement   biology of student?s on XI IPA grade of SMA N 1 Sukoharjo  ;  2)  the  influence  of  student?s  learning  activity  toward achievement  biology of student?s  on XI IPA grade of SMA N 1 Sukoharjo ; 3) the interaction between learning  strategy  and student?s learning activity  toward achievement  biology  of student?s  on XI IPA grade  of SMA N 1 Sukoharjo  and;    4) the influence of the combined effects between of  learning strategy  and  student?s learning activity which better  of student?s  on XI IPA grade  of SMA N 1 Sukoharjo  This research was a quasi experiment research with Randomized Control Only Design. Learning strategy and student?s  learning activity were  independent variables and student?s achievement of study biology was the dependent variable. The population of this research was all of student?s on Xl lPA grade of SMAN 1 Sukoharjo. The samples of  this  research were  the student?s of class Xl  IPA 4 as the control class and  student?s of class XI  IPA 3 as  the experimental class. The sample of this research was established by Cluster Random Sampling. The techniques for collecting data were had test, questionnaire, and observation. The data were analyzed by anava two away in different cell and then continued test anova with test LSD to understand treatment influence step. The conclusion of this research were: 1)  the learning strategy had significant influence  toward achievement  biology in cognitive, affective and pshycomotor domain of student?s on XI IPA grade of SMA N 1 Sukoharjo ; 2) the student?s learning activity  had significant influence  toward achievement of biology  in  pshycomotor  but  didn?t  have  significant  influence  in  cognitive and afective domain of  student?s on XI  IPA grade of SMA N 1 Sukoharjo; 3) there wasn?t    interaction between  learning  strategy  and  student?s  learning  activity toward achievement of biologi cognitive, affective and pshycomotor  domain  of student?s on XI IPA grade of SMA N 1 Sukoharjo  and  ;  4)  on the strength of continued test have been  obtained  results that significant  influence the effect of the combination  between  of learning strategy  and learning activity  which the achievemenant biology of higher with the use of active learning Student Question Have observed from the high student?s learning activity in cognitive, affective and psychomotor domain of student?s on XI IPA grade of SMA N 1 Sukoharjo. Abstract

This research is considered quasi-experiment research.  The research was designed using Posttest-Only Control Group Design by applying Student Created Case Studies learning method l with picture media in experimental group and lectures methods, discussions, and experiment  in control group.  The population of this research were all strudents in X grade of SMA Negeri 1 Mojolaban in academic year 2011/ 2012. The sample of this research was established by Cluster Random Sampling, in order to obtain class X-4 as experimental group and class X-3 as control group.  The data was collected by using tests, documentation and observation form.  The hypothesis was analized by using t-test.  The conclusion of this research is that the application Student Created Case Studies learning method with picture media towards sains skill process. Abstract

ABSTRACT - This research aims to ascertain whether or not the application Socratic Circles method with images media affects the student?s creative thinking skill.This research is considered quasi-experiment research.  The research was designed using Posttest-Only Control Group Design by applying Socratic Circles method with images media in experimental group and lectures methods, discussions, and presentations in control group.  The population of this research were all strudents in X grade of SMA Negeri 2 Boyolali in academic year 2011/ 2012. The sample of this research was established by Cluster Random Sampling, in order to obtain class X-3 as experimental group and class X-2 as control group.  The data was collected by using tests, documentation and observation form.  The hypothesis was analized by using t-test.
