Abstract

ABSTRACT ? The  aims of the research were  to find out  the correlation  between: 1) memory ability with cognitive learning achievement of biology of student of SMA Negeri 2 Madiun in academic year of 2011/2012, 2) learning motivation of biology with cognitive learning achievement  of biology  of student  of SMA Negeri  2 Madiun in academic year of 2011/2012,3) memory ability and learning motivation of biology with  cognitive learning achievement  of student  of SMA Negeri  2 Madiun in academic year of 2011/2012. This  is  a correlational research.  The population  taken  were all of the students of SMA Negeri  2 Madiun  in academic year of 2011/2012. The sample was taken among  676  samples of student using  stratified  random sampling technique.  Documentation technique was used to uncover student?s  cognitive learning achievement  and memory ability was measured by using testtechnique. While learning motivation of biology was measured by using questionnaire technique.  The obtained data was analysed using linier regression analysis in SPSS 16. The results  showed that (1)  there was a  positive  correlation between memory ability with cognitive learning achievement of biology ofstudentof SMA Negeri  2 Madiun  in academic year of 2011/2012, 2)  there was a  positive correlation between  learning motivation of biology  with  cognitive learning achievement  of biology ofstudentof SMA Negeri  2 Madiun  in academic year of 2011/2012,  3)  there was a  positive  correlation between  memory ability  and learning motivation of biology with  cognitive learning achievement  of biology of student of SMA Negeri  2 Madiun  in academic year of 2011/2012.  Each of independent  variable, that is  memory ability  and  learning motivation of biology has contribution to dependent variable, that is  cognitive  learning achievement of biology. Abstract

The purposes of this research are to know the influence of problem based learning model with key relation chart media toward the student?s critical thinking and group cooperation in VIII class of SMP Negeri 14 Surakarta Academic Year 2012/2013. This research was quasi experimental research with post-test non equivalent control croup design and cluster sampling technique. The population of this research was all students in VIII class of SMP Negeri 14 Surakarta Academic Year 2012/2013, the sample was two classes, they are experiment class used problem based learning model with key relation chart media and control class with convensional model, that is variative speech learning model with simple chart. Data collection technique was with essay test, cooperation observation sheet, questionnaire of cooperation, and student?s early value documentation. Based on hypothesis test result with t test, it has obtained  t count value, that are 2,169 and sig. are 0,037 for student?s group cooperation value. Sig?s value from two t test for critical thinking variable and student?s group cooperation were bigger than 0,05, so Ho was denied. It has showed that critical thinking and student?s group cooperation in experiment and control class was really different. The result of  data analysis above proof  that there was an influence of problem based learning model with key relation chart media toward critical thinking and student?s group cooperation in VIII class of SMP Negeri 14 Surakarta Academic Year 2012/2013. Keywords: problem based learning model, key relation chart media,critical thinking, group cooperation.

Abstract

ABSTRACT ? The  purposes of this research were to know: 1) the influence of Everyone  is a Teacher Here to the mastery of biology result 2) the influence of student?s learning interest to the mastery of biology result; 3) the interaction between learning model and learning interest to the mastery of biology result ; and 4) the influence of better learning model to the mastery of biology result This research was quasi experiment research using Randomized Control Only design. Learning model and learning interest were independent variables and mastery of biology concept was the dependent variable. The population of this research was all of  X grade of SMA Negeri 1 Sukoharjo. The samples of this research were the students of class XI IPA 2 as the control class and students of class XI IPA 6 as the experimental class.  The sample of this research was established by cluster random sampling. The data about the result of study biology collected by use test and observation. Learning interest meansured by using questionnaires. The analisis of this research was anava two away in different cell and the advance test used Bonfferoni test. . Abstract

ABSTRACT ? It already been  known that biology as a branch of science will emphasizes on  how to think critically to gain most of its basic concepts. Hence, the weaknesses of mastering this kind of skill will be followed by the unsuccessful mastering of its concepts respectively. Factual phenomenon observed towards high school student of the grade of  XI of Assalam Islamic Boarding School in academic year  2011/2012 showed  that student performing a teacher centered classical learning. Student has never induced and  motivated to be a real learner. This, makes student are unable to perform good critical thinking skill. This is real problem in this class that needs to be solved trough particular strategy.  Blended learning is expected to be an effective strategy since  it facilitates both, student centered learning and optimizing the use of ICT based learning. This research is aimed to ascertain 1) blended learning implementation in biological learning process, 2) blended learning implementation in biological learning process. This research belongs to classroom action research  consist of four cycle and each have four phases, namely planning, actuating, observing and reflecting. The subject of the research is XI IPA 4 Putra students at SMA RSBI Pondok Pesantren Modern Islam Assalaam Sukoharjo in academic year 2011/2012. The data was collected by test and non test technique, it was carried out by using essay test,  observation sheet, questionnaire, and interview. The obtained data were analyzed using descriptive approach and validated through triangulation method. The results showed that the average percentage of critical thinking aspect from essay test, such as the 1st cycle 56,82%, the 2nd cycle 61,93%, the 3rd cycle 68,94% and the 4th  cycle 75,75%. Therefore, it can be concluded that 1) blended learning could be applied in biological learning process, 2) blended learning could be used to improve critical thinking. Abstract

This research aims to improve the students verbal creativity in class X6 at SMAN 3 Boyolali in Academic Year 2012/2013 through the application of the Learning Cycle (5E) with Affinity Diagram.The observation result toward the learning process of Biologic study for the Students of class X6 SMAN 3 Boyolali Tahun Ajaran 2012/2013 can bee seen that the learning process is not optimal as it is only dominated by the teacher, the students can no longer get active so the student?s capability of improving the idea and giving the argument is not optimal. It indicates that the student?s verbal creativity does not work well. Based on the problem statement above, it needs to increase the learning process by applying a new model in order to activate the student and the constructivism based itself. Learning cycle (5E) is a process made by syntax: enggagement, exploration, exolanation, elaboration dan evaluation.  Because the characteristic of biologic material contains many concepts and problems, for instance ecosystem material, so the learning cycle (5 E) is more effective if guided by Affinity Diagram in which the operation principle is to group the problems.This research was a classroom action research which and performed  in three cycles. Each cycle consists of four phases, namely planning, action, observation, and reflection. Data collection was used test techniques and Non Test with instrument by questions item, observation and manual interview. Data validation techniques was used triangulation techniques. Data were analyzed using descriptive techniques.The results of this research showed that an increase of students verbal creativity of in Cycle I, II III, covering the aspects 1) fluency (31.78%, 52.07%, 73.52%), 2) Flexibility (22.40% , 41.02%, 48.44%); 3) Originality (15.12%, 33.92%, 48.24%); 4) Elaboration (12.61%, 21.48%, 33.01% ). The increase of students verbal creativity as a whole when it is categorized was in cycle I with a low category was 50%, medium category was 50% and high categories was 0%, Cycle II in a low category was 35.48%, medium category was 48.39%, and high categories was 16.13%, Cycle III in lower category was 25%, medium category was 50% and high category was 25%. Cycle was stopped in Cycle III because the research target have been achieved. The conclusion of this research describes that application of the Learning Cycle (5E) with Affinity Diagrams can increase students verbal creativity in class X6 SMAN 3 Boyolali in  Academic Year 2012/2013. Keywords:_ Learning cycle (5E), affinity diagrams, verbal creativity.

Abstract

This research is aim to find out the different comprehension of human respiration system concept in the Novick type of constructivism learning with concept map and the varied lecturing learning.This study was a quasi-experimental research using Post-test Only With Nonequivalent Groups research design. The sampling technique used was Cluster Sampling one. The populations of this research were all of 11th degree students of science at SMA Negeri 2 Karanganyar in academic year 2012/2013. The samples of this research were the students of 11th Imersi I as experiment group and 11th Imersi II as control group. Technique of collecting data used was a  multiple choice test with reasoning, essay test, and observation sheet. Abstract

ABSTRACT ? The purpose ofthis study was to improvestudent science process skills on Biology teaching by implementation of Active Learning with Silent Demonstrationand increaselearning outcome by improvingstudent science process skills. This research usedclassroom action research. The experiment was conducted in two cycles, with each cycle consisting of the planning, acting, observation, and reflection. Subjects were students of class VIII-DSMP Negeri 14 Surakarta academic year 2010/2011. Source of data derived from teacher and student information, places and events on going learning activities, and documentation. Techniques and tools of data collection are questionnaire, observation, and interviews. Technical analysis of data is using qualitative descriptive. Data validationis use methods triangulation Result of the research showed  that with action performing brazes to pass through Implementation of Active Learning with Silent Demonstration can improve science process skillsin biology learning in class VIII-DSMP Negeri 14 Surakarta academic year 2010/2011. It wasgone upon on questionnaire result, observation and interview. The average percentage each indicator of student activities based on observation  for  pre cycle is 36,62%, a cycle of 68,94% and 78,28% for cycle 2. The conclusions that application of Active Learning with Silent Demonstrationcan improve student science process skillsand learning outcome by improvingstudent science process skills. This research aims to find out the effectof the implementation of  learning media video on the  discussion subject fungi towards cognitive performance of the Xth grade students SMA Negeri 2 Karanganyar. This study is a quasi-experimental studies which use  Posstest Only Control Group Design. The independent variable in this research is the application of learning media videowhereas the dependent variable is students cognitive performance. The population of the study is the entire class X at SMA Negeri 2 Karanganyaracademic year 2011/2012.The samplesare taken towards control and treatment group. The sample is taken by using  Cluster Random Sampling method. The data collecting technique of implementation of the research result towards the learning process of biology used documentation and test. Abstract

ABSTRACT ? The objective of the research is to improve social activities of students in biology learning through implementing STAD learning model with video assisted. This study was a classroom action research which was carried out in two cycles. Each cycle consisted of four stages: planning, action, observation, and reflection. Subjects were students of class VII-F SMP Negeri 1 Jaten Karanganyar in the academic year 2011/2012. Data was obtained through observation, questionnaires, and interviews. Then, data was analyzed by using descriptive analysis technique and was validated by using triangulation technique. The results showed that the implementation of STAD learning model with video assisted could enhance social activities of students in biology learning. The increase average value of student?s social activities achievements based on observation after the first cycle was 6.61%, then it reached 4.91% for the second cycle. However, the final achievement gained 67.26%. Based on these results, it could be concluded that implementing STAD learning model with video assisted could enhance social activities of students in biology learning class of VII-F in SMP Negeri 1 Jaten Keywords: cooperative learning, STAD, video assisted, student?s social activities

Abstract

ABSTRACT ? The purposes of this research are to ascertain: 1) the influence of Guided Inquiry combined Cooperative Jigsaw model toward science process skills, 2) the influence of academic ability toward science process skills, 3) the interaction between Guided Inquiry combined Cooperative Jigsaw model and academic ability toward science process skills. The research was quasi experiment research. The research was designed using pretest posttest nonequivalent control group design. Experimental group applied Guided Inquiry combined Cooperative Jigsaw model. Control group applied Conventional model. The populations of this research were all of 10th  degree students at SMA Negeri 2 Surakarta in academic year 2011/2012.  The samples of this research were the students of X-1 as experiment group and X-3 as control group. The sample of this research was established by cluster random sampling. The data was collected essay test, observation form, and document. The hypotheses analyzed by Anacova. The research concluded that 1) application of Guided Inquiry combined Cooperative Jigsaw model had significant effect toward science process skill, 2) the academic ability didn?t has significant effect toward science process skill, 3) there was not interaction between Guided Inquiry combined Cooperative Jigsaw model and academic ability toward science process skills.
