Abstract

This article discusses a community service program focused on enhancing the skills and self-confidence of children at Quranic Education Institutions (TPQ/Madin) in Senggowar Village. The initiative employed the Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) approach, which leverages existing community assets as the primary foundation for development. The key assets identified were the TPQ/Madin institutions themselves and the latent potential of the students. The program involved structured mentoring and training in public speaking, integrated with Qur'anic values. Activities included teaching assistance, speech and poetry training, and inter-TPQ competitions. The results indicated a significant increase in the students' confidence, communication abilities, and willingness to express themselves in public. The program successfully demonstrated that by focusing on and developing internal assets, it is possible to foster a generation of Qur'anic youth who are not only religiously knowledgeable but also confident and articulate, thereby contributing to positive social change within the community

Abstract

This article discusses a community empowerment program aimed at enhancing the creative economy of Pamilya Welfare Empowerment (PKK) women in Senggowar Village. The program was driven by the issue of underutilized local economic potential. Using the Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) approach, the initiative focused on identifying and optimizing existing local assets, including raw materials (abundant cassava and leftover fabric) and human resources (the PKK women's group). The implementation involved training and mentoring in creating innovative products cassava-based wingko (a traditional snack) and handmade crafts (scrunchies and doormats). The results show the successful creation of new, marketable products and the development of the participants' skills. This empowerment model successfully triggered increased family economic independence by opening up new business opportunities based on village potential. The program demonstrates that a strengths-based approach can effectively unlock local economic potential and encourage community self-sufficiency

Abstract

This community service initiative addresses the critical issue of plastic waste through an Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) approach, implemented at SDN Senggowar 01 in Senggowar Village. The program focuses on transforming non-productive assets specifically, used plastic bottles into productive and valuable resources in the form of eco bricks. By leveraging the school as an educational hub, the project engaged students in hands-on activities that combined environmental education with practical skills development. The process included collecting plastic waste, processing it into eco bricks, and utilizing these bricks to create functional items such as shoe racks and waste bins. This initiative not only provided a tangible solution to plastic waste management but also fostered environmental awareness and creativity among students. The ABCD framework ensured that local assets were maximized, community participation was enhanced, and sustainable practices were introduced, resulting in meaningful social change and a cleaner school environment

Abstract

This community service program addressed the challenges faced by informal Islamic educational institutions (TPQ/Madin) in Senggowar Village, particularly regarding operational licensing and institutional management. Employing the Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) approach, the initiative shifted the paradigm from a deficit-based to a strengths-based model. The methodology followed the ABCD cycle: Discovery (mapping institutional assets and challenges), Dream (facilitating a collective vision for formalized and well-managed institutions), Design (cocreating action plans for licensing and management systems), and Destiny (implementing assistance and capacity building). The intervention resulted in three TPQ/Madin institutions initiating the formal licensing process with the Ministry of Religious Affairs and the adoption of simple, standardized management tools for student administration and financial recording. Beyond these tangible outputs, the program fostered significant institutional capacity building, enhanced collaboration among institution leaders, and increased community trust. The project demonstrates that the ABCD framework is an effective strategy for strengthening the foundational governance of community-based educational institutions, leading to greater sustainability, legitimacy, and quality of service in Islamic education at the grassroots level

Abstract

Excessive sugar consumption is a significant public health concern linked to the rising prevalence of non-communicable diseases. Housewives, as primary family food managers, play a crucial role in determining dietary patterns. This community service program aimed to empower housewives in Bangle Village, Lengkong District, through education on low-sugar healthy meal preparation. The program employed the Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) approach, focusing on identifying and mobilizing existing community assets rather than addressing deficits. Methods included asset mapping, interactive nutrition workshops, and participatory cooking practices. The initial mapping revealed key assets: the culinary skills of housewives, the structured network of the PKK (Family Welfare Empowerment), and the availability of local ingredients. The intervention resulted in a significant increase in participants' knowledge, with average pretest and post-test scores rising from 52.4 to 85.6. Furthermore, the program successfully mobilized these assets, as observed in the practical sessions where participants modified traditional recipes to reduce sugar content. More importantly, the ABCD approach fostered sustainable community ownership, leading to the formation of the "Bangle Healthy Mothers" group and the commitment of local cadres to integrate health messages into ongoing community activities. The program concludes that an asset-based, participatory approach is highly effective not only for immediate knowledge transfer and skill development but also for instigating lasting, community-driven change in health and nutrition behaviors.

Abstract

This community service program addresses the critical challenges faced by durian and strawberry farmers in Wonosalam, Jombang, namely significant post-harvest losses of non-premium grade fruit, dependency on middlemen leading to price suppression, and a lack of product diversification. The primary objectives were to enhance farmers’ capacity in low-sugar fruit processing, build their digital marketing literacy, and integrate these skills to increase added value and market competitiveness. Employing a Participatory Action Research (PAR) methodology underpinned by an Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) approach, the six-month intervention involved 25 core farmers in a cycle of asset mapping, co-designing workshops on product processing (low-sugar jam, puree, chips) and digital marketing (WhatsApp Business, Instagram), and intensive mentoring. The results demonstrated a successful increase in practical skills and knowledge, the establishment of active online business profiles attracting over 2,300 followers, the generation of additional household income averaging IDR 285,000 from processed products, and enhanced group collaboration. The program concludes that an integrated strategy combining value-adding technology with digital market access, rooted in participatory empowerment and leveraging local assets, is an effective model for transforming farmers into market-savvy agripreneurs, offering a replicable blueprint for similar horticultural communities seeking sustainable economic improvement.

Abstract

Climate change and land constraints pose significant threats to rice-farming communities. This study implemented Participatory Action Research (PAR) with farmers in Sawahan to co-develop and evaluate integrated strategies for Climate-Smart Agriculture (CSA) and farm diversification. Over iterative cycles, farmers and researchers collaboratively designed and tested a bundled CSA approach combining drought-tolerant rice varieties, Alternate Wetting and Drying (AWD) water management, and organic composting. This integration resulted in a 20-25% reduction in irrigation water, a 12% increase in yield, and improved soil health. Concurrently, a rice-duck integration system was piloted, demonstrating effective pest and weed control while providing a profitable secondary income from duck and egg sales. The process critically fostered farmer-led innovation, including the cultivation of high-value crops on paddy dykes. Key findings reveal that technical solutions must be synergistically bundled and coupled with economic diversification to build systemic resilience. More importantly, the PAR methodology successfully catalyzed a shift from passive technology adoption to active community-led adaptation, as evidenced by the emergence of a spontaneous farmer-to-farmer learning network. The study concludes that empowering farmers through participatory co-learning is fundamental to developing locally relevant, adaptive, and resilient farming systems capable of weathering climatic and economic uncertainties
