Abstract

Efficient data storage and transmission have become of utmost importance in today's digital era. File compression processes are crucial to addressing this issue. The purpose of this study is to examine and compare the use of the Arithmetic Coding Method and the LZW Method in file compression. Both of these methods are known for their excellent compression capabilities, but there has been limited research comparing them in the context of real-world use. This research employed a range of files, including text, photos, and recordings, to test both approaches. Results indicate that the arithmetic coding method typically offers a slightly better compression ratio compared to the LZW method. However, LZW provides faster compression and decompression speeds, making it more suitable for real-time applications or where response time is critical. Nonetheless, the choice between these two methods largely depends on the specific needs of a given application. For purposes requiring the highest compression ratio, the arithmetic coding method might be more appropriate. however, the LZW method might be more suitable for purposes demanding quick compression and decompression. In summary, both the arithmetic coding and LZW methods have their own strengths and weaknesses. A thorough understanding of the features and requirements of the file to be compressed is vital for choosing the most fitting method. the LZW method might be more suitable for purposes demanding quick compression and decompression. Abstract

Apples are one type of fruit that has properties including preventing disease, nourishing the body and being a menu when running a diet. This study aims to develop an identification system for the maturity level of apples using the mamdani fuzzy logic method. Fuzzy logic mamdani is a fairly good method of identification because the classes to be used have been predetermined. In this study, the apples used were Rome Beauty apples. The maturity level is based on the color which is divided into two, namely green raw and reddish yellow ripe. Data processing is done by preprocessing images such as resizing fruit directly. The accuracy of the dataset measured using this method results in an accuracy of 96%. In this study, an analysis of the input and output features needed by Mamdani's fuzzy logic was also carried out in classifying the maturity level of apples. The results showed that the input data could not be used effectively to classify the maturity level of apples due to the lack of input types used.

Abstract

Control of Auxiliary Materials in the Biodiesel Manufacturing Process Using the Min-Max Stock Method at PT. Permata Hijau Palm Oleo Belawan. The main reason why companies store raw materials in large quantities is as safety stock if there is a delay in delivery from suppliers so that the production process does not stop. This research was carried out on four auxiliary materials used for the Biodiesel manufacturing process, namely, Methanol, Catalist, HCl, and NaOH at PT. Permata Hijau Palm Oleo Belawan. From the research results, it was found that the final inventory of auxiliary materials during 2022 and 2023 was very large compared to inventory calculations using the Min-Max Stock method, namely for Methanol auxiliary materials, namely 390,182 Kg (2022) and 2,095,097 Kg (2023) compared to using the Min-Max Stock method of 316,852 Kg (2022) and 409,299 Kg (2023), with an investment cost of Rp. 10,898,701,800 Catalist, namely 1,130,654 (2022) and 1,776,481 Kg (2023) using the Min-Max Stock method of 76,325 Kg (2022) and 92,518 (2023), with an investment cost of Rp. 20,713,186,300, NaOH, namely 173,197 Kg (2022) and 152,905 Kg (2023) with the Min-Max Stock method of 36,466 Kg (2022) and 35,106 Kg (2023) with an investment cost of Rp. 2,107,404,600, HCl namely 130,767 Kg (2022) and 146,161 Kg (2023) using the Min-Max Stock method of 69,337 Kg (2022) and 63,821 Kg (2023) with an investment cost of Rp. 230,552,000. From the research results it can be concluded that controlling the inventory of auxiliary materials at PT. PHPO Belawan is still not optimal. The final inventory of auxiliary materials is still very large and the largest is Methanol auxiliary materials in 2023, Catalist in 2022 and 2023.

Abstract

The moisture content in palm kernels is one of the crucial factors influencing the quality and productivity of palm oil production. This research aims to analyze the effect of temperature on the moisture content in palm kernels at the Seed Silo in the Kernel Crushing Plant Unit of PT. Smart Tbk, Belawan, using the Complete Randomized Design (CRD) method and Simple Linear Regression. The kernels were collected from several plots of oil palm plantations spread across certain areas. In the process, it is essential to understand how temperature affects the moisture content in the kernels. The study was conducted with four repetitions for each experiment to determine the moisture content analysis data of the kernels in the Seed Silo. The results of the moisture content reduction calculations showed an optimum temperature of 100°C with the lowest moisture content of 6.26%. Based on the Complete Randomized Design (CRD) method, the results showed that the F-calculated value of 3.12 was greater than the F-table value of 2.95, meaning that H0 was rejected (temperature does not affect moisture content) and H1 was accepted (temperature affects moisture content). It can be concluded that the experiments at each given temperature significantly affected the resulting moisture content. Then, using the Simple Linear Regression method, a correlation coefficient value of -1.00 was obtained, indicating a perfect negative correlation between temperature (X) and moisture content (Y). The coefficient value indicates the strength of the relationship between variables X and Y. Simple linear regression shows that the higher the temperature, the lower the moisture content in the palm kernels. The practical implications can include recommendations for optimal temperature settings in the handling and processing of palm kernels to improve the quality and productivity of the production output.
