Abstract

Background: Mental health literacy (MHL) is crucial for adolescents to recognize, manage, and prevent mental health issues. In Indonesia, increasing adolescent mental health challenges and limited culturally adapted MHL tools highlight the need for a validated Mental Health Literacy Scale (MHLS) in Bahasa Indonesia. Objective: This study aimed to translate, culturally adapt, and validate the MHLS for Indonesian adolescents to assess their mental health literacy accurately. Methods: The study followed a three-stage validation process: translation, cultural adaptation, and content validation with a sample of 435 adolescents. Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) was conducted to assess construct validity, and Cronbach’s alpha was calculated for reliability. Results: The translated MHLS showed high content validity (CVI ≥ 0.87) and good construct validity with fit indices (RMSEA = 0.046, CFI = 0.956). Internal consistency was high (Cronbach's alpha = 0.907), indicating reliability. Conclusion: The Bahasa Indonesia version of MHLS is a valid and reliable tool for assessing mental health literacy in Indonesian adolescents, supporting culturally relevant interventions.

Abstract

Background: Physical activity and fear of childbirth (FoC) are recognized as influential factors on QoL. However, the interplay of these factors remains underexplored in the Indonesian context, where cultural and healthcare settings differ from high-income countries. Objective: To investigate the relationships between physical activity, fear of childbirth, and quality of life among pregnant women in Indonesia. Methods: This cross-sectional study involved 250 pregnant women recruited through convenience sampling from healthcare facilities in Indonesia. Data were collected using validated instruments: the Physical Pregnancy Activity Questionnaire (PPAQ), Wijma Delivery Expectation Questionnaire (WDEQ-A) for FoC, and Quality-of-Life Gravidarum (QOL-GRAV) questionnaire. Multiple regression analysis was employed to assess the relationships among physical activity, FoC, and QoL, adjusting for confounders. Results: The mean age of participants was 28.4 years (SD = 5.6), with 67.6% reporting moderate physical activity levels. FoC was prevalent, with 45.2% experiencing high levels, while 34.8% reported high QoL. Physical activity was positively associated with QoL (r = 0.52, p < 0.001), while FoC was negatively associated (r = -0.61, p < 0.001). Multiple regression revealed that physical activity (β = 0.39, p < 0.001) and FoC (β = -0.46, p < 0.001) were significant predictors of QoL, explaining 42.5% of the variance (R² = 0.425, p < 0.001). Conclusion: These findings underscore the importance of incorporating physical activity promotion and FoC mitigation into antenatal care to enhance maternal well-being.

Abstract

Introduction: Marital satisfaction, which includes aspects of communication, emotional intimacy, partner support, and quality of interaction, is believed to play an important role in maternal mental health after childbirth. This dissatisfaction can increase feelings of loneliness, stress, and anxiety, all of which can worsen the mental state of the postpartum mother. Women who experience dissatisfaction in their marital relationships have a higher tendency to experience postpartum depression. The prevalence of depressive disorders in the world population is 3-8% with 50% of cases occurring at the productive age of 20-50 years. World Health Organization. (WHO) states that depressive disorder affects 20% of women and 12% of men at some point in life. Objective: To find out if there is a relationship between marital satisfaction and the incidence of postpartum depression in East Bekasi. Methods: This study is an analytical study, meaning a study that aims to see the relationship or influence in the form of analytical descriptive research with a crossectional approach using the chisquere test, Research results: the results of the Chi-Square Statistical Test obtained a p-Value of 0.043 (p-value <0.05) so that Ha was accepted by Ho and rejected which means that there is a meaningful relationship between marital satisfaction and depression in postpartum mothers. Bottom Line: Women who are dissatisfied with their marriage are more at risk of postpartum depression. These findings are in line with many previous studies that show that the quality of a marital relationship can affect a mother's mental well-being after childbirth. Therefore, it is important to pay attention to the aspect of marital satisfaction as part of efforts to prevent postpartum depression.
