The County government of Kisumu and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) have been reactive to the plight of the residents of Nyando Sub-County during floods, rather than addressing the community health and development needs. There is a knowledge gap regarding institutional knowledge of the issues that may positively contribute to the resilience of the residents of the flood prone Nyando Sub County. The overall objective of this study was to gain insight of the community health and development needs of the residents of flood prone Nyando Sub-County, Kisumu County in order to inform the county government and local NGOs in the area. A total of 84 participants were assigned into 12 Focus Group Discussions (FGDs). The FGDs covered 10 thematic areas with a variety of questions. Informed consent was sought from the participants during recruitment into the study. The FGDs were conducted in the local Dholuo language, and tape recorded. Transcription of the data was done thematically through content analysis and coding. Common threads from the themes were outlined as; desire to improved access to safe domestic water, construction of more health facilities, employment of more nurses and other healthcare workers, improved primary schools’ infrastructure, creation of income generation activities, and improvement of security in the area to avoid cattle rustling. The qualitative assessment indicated that residents understand their needs and lack of safe water, poor health services and infrastructure were the main needs of the residents of Nyando Sub County.

The quality of healthcare services is a critical determinant of health outcomes and public satisfaction. Political perspectives significantly influence the quality of healthcare through policy-making, funding, and regulation. This literature review examines the interplay between political ideologies, policy decisions, and healthcare quality. It explores how different political systems and party ideologies affect healthcare quality, the role of political will and governance in shaping healthcare policies, and the impact of political instability on health systems. Paediatric tuberculosis (TB) remains a significant public health challenge, particularly in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). While TB is largely preventable and treatable, children often face barriers to timely diagnosis and appropriate treatment due to gaps in health policy and systems. This literature review examines health policy perspectives on Paediatric tuberculosis management, focusing on global and national policies, the integration of TB services into broader health systems, and the challenges of implementing effective Paediatric TB control programs. Health Operational Assistance (HOA) funds are allocated for Public Health Center operations, and a minimum of 60% of the total allocation of the funds is used for Priority Health Programs through various highly leveraged activities to achieve MDGs goals in the health sector. A maximum of 40% of the funds is used for other Health Programs and Public Health Center Management. The method of this research is descriptive research using a qualitative research design. This research aimed to investigate the use of HOA funds at Sipatokkong Ogoamas Public Health Center. The results of this research show that the Public Health Center has allocated HOA funds following the technical guidelines that have been determined by utilizing the funds that are more focused on activities that will be prioritized at the Public Health Center, where the Public Health Center will see prioritized activities based on problems found first. The conclusion from the results of this research is that the use of HOA funds at the Siatokkong Ogoamas Health Center is following the technical guidelines that have been determined. The implementation of promotive and preventive health programs for MCH activities outside the building has yet to be carried out according to the planned schedule; achievement of target indicators for Minimum Service Standards at Sipatokong Ogoamas Health Center has yet to be achieved according to national standards.

Performance in every organization is carried out by human resources available in an organization. In an organization at the Puskesmas, the performance or work results in quality and quantity can be achieved by a health worker if he carries out his main duties and functions as an employee in accordance with the responsibilities assigned or given to him. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between motivation and workload with the performance of health workers in the Pedongga Health Center Work Area, Pasangkayu Regency. This type of research is an analytic type of research using a Cross Sectional Study approach where data concerning the data of the independent variable and the dependent variable will be collected at the same time. The number of samples in this study were 37 health workers who work in the Pedongga Health Center Work Area, Pasangkayu Regency (total population). The results showed that there was a significant relationship between workload with p value = 0.033 (p < 0.05), and motivation with p value = 0.005 (p < 0.05) with the performance of health workers in the Pedongga Health Center Work Area, Pasangkayu Regency. The conclusion in this research is that all the independent variables studied have a relationship with the dependent variable, which means that workload and motivation have a relationship with the performance of health workers. Suggestions in the study are expected for the related agencies of the Pedongga Public Health Center, Pasangkayu Regency to be able to improve the performance of health workers so that public health services at the Puskesmas are better.
