Abstract

Lavender essential oil (LEO) has gained significant attention for its potential role in managing stress and neuroinflammation, offering a promising avenue in immunopsychiatry. Rich in bioactive compounds such as linalool and linalyl acetate, LEO exhibits anxiolytic, anti- inflammatory, and neuroprotective properties. Emerging evidence suggests that LEO modulates the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis, reduces cortisol levels, and influences neurotransmitter pathways, thereby alleviating stress-related symptoms. Furthermore, its anti- inflammatory effects contribute to mitigating neuroinflammation, a key factor in mood disorders such as depression and anxiety. This review explores the immunopsychiatric mechanisms underlying LEO’s therapeutic potential, highlighting its role as a complementary intervention in stress-related neuropsychiatric conditions.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the therapeutic benefits of lavender essential oil (LEO) on pain management and its potential to improve the quality of life in patients with chronic diseases. Chronic pain is a common and incapacitating illness that profoundly affects physical and mental health, leading to increased interest in complementary and alternative therapy. Lavender essential oil, recognized for its soothing aroma and therapeutic benefits, has garnered interest for its analgesic, anxiolytic, and anti-inflammatory characteristics. These advantages are thought to be facilitated by several physiological processes, including the regulation of transient receptor potential (TRP) channels, which are involved in sensory perception and pain signalling. This study utilizes a systematic literature review technique, concentrating on both clinical and experimental studies to investigate the effectiveness of lavender essential oil in alleviating pain. The analysis includes many chronic illnesses such as neuropathic pain, arthritis, cancer-related pain, and fibromyalgia. The studies incorporated in the review investigate several administration modalities, including inhalation, topical application, and aromatherapy massage. Inhalation has consistently been linked to decreased pain perception, enhanced respiratory patterns, and increased mental well-being, underscoring the many advantages of lavender essential oil in holistic care environments.

Abstract

Vaccine hesitancy remains a critical public health issue in urban Indonesia, where healthcare access coexists with growing skepticism toward immunization. This study assessed the impact of a structured health education program on improving vaccine literacy and reducing parental hesitancy toward childhood vaccination. Using a quasi-experimental pre–post design, 240 parents from two urban health centers in Jakarta and Surabaya were assigned to intervention and control groups. The intervention included seminars, printed materials, and moderated WhatsApp discussions. Data on vaccine literacy, vaccination intent, institutional trust, and misinformation exposure were collected through validated instruments and analyzed using paired t-tests and multiple regression. Results showed a 33.1% improvement in vaccine literacy and a 28% increase in vaccination intent among the intervention group. Institutional trust and participation in the education program emerged as key predictors of reduced hesitancy, whereas misinformation exposure had a strong negative influence. In areas with low trust in healthcare institutions and high misinformation exposure—where over 40% of parents reported encountering false vaccine narratives—the intervention’s impact was weaker. The findings highlight that effective vaccine education must go beyond knowledge dissemination by integrating cultural narratives, emotional engagement, and community-based trust-building. While structured education enhances literacy and intent, sustainable behavioral change requires a multidimensional strategy combining education, empathy, and institutional credibility to strengthen urban immunization efforts.

Abstract

Stunting remains a persistent public health issue in Indonesia, particularly in rural and 3T (Terdepan, Terluar, Tertinggal) regions. Posyandu cadres, as community health volunteers, are positioned to play a pivotal role in the early detection of stunting. This study examines how knowledge and skill development interventions improve cadres’ capacity for early stunting detection. Using a qualitative descriptive design, this study synthesizes findings from eight empirical studies and relevant national data. Thematic analysis was applied to examine the effects of training programs on cadre knowledge acquisition, skill proficiency, and community health outcomes. The research further assesses frameworks appropriate for analog 3T contexts, including logistical, cultural, and policy considerations. Key results demonstrate a statistically significant improvement in cadre knowledge following training interventions, with a strong correlation (r = 0.80) between knowledge gains and improved stunting detection skills. Enhanced competencies led to reductions in community stunting cases, improved parental health behaviors, and greater community engagement. Barriers such as geographic isolation and cultural resistance were identified, underscoring the need for tailored training and ongoing supervision. The findings emphasize the importance of institutionalizing sustainable training models, supported by cross-sectoral policy frameworks. Posyandu cadres, when properly trained and supported, serve as critical agents in Indonesia’s mission to reduce childhood stunting. Community-integrated, scalable interventions are essential to extend this impact across underserved regions.

Abstract

Inadequate hand hygiene continues to pose a major public health threat, particularly in low- and middle-income countries such as Indonesia. This study investigates the influence of combined media and interpersonal communication (IPC) campaigns on maternal handwashing behavior. Utilizing a qualitative synthesis of empirical data from Hanson et al. (2020) and Hirai et al. (2016), This study applied thematic and conceptual analysis grounded in Social Cognitive Theory and the Health Belief Model. The methodology draws on secondary data and literature-based thematic patterns to explore behavior change dynamics. Findings indicate that media alone increases awareness but often fails to lead to sustained behavior change. In contrast, IPC enhances message retention, fosters trust, and enables culturally relevant reinforcement of health behaviors. When used in tandem, media and IPC significantly improve both knowledge and handwashing practices among mothers. Emotional and social motivators, such as concern for child safety and peer influence, further drive behavioral adoption. The results suggest that integrated health campaigns that combine media outreach with interpersonal reinforcement are more effective in promoting hygiene compliance. These insights offer practical guidance for designing community-centered health interventions, particularly in LMIC contexts. The study emphasizes the need for multi-modal, culturally grounded health communication strategies to address hygiene-related challenges.
