Abstract

This article aims to analyse Abu Rayyah’s criticism of Abu Hurairah in the context of understanding the hadith. The discussion of the narrators of the Prophet’s hadith has invited long-standing problems among hadith researchers ranging from friends to hadith recorders, which cannot be separated from this study. The negative aspect causes the Prophet’s hadith to be faced with doubt about its truth and opens up opportunities for those who have bad intentions towards Islam in general, especially towards the Prophet’s hadith. This article was reviewed using a literature study. Data collection techniques were conducted through identification, classification, and critical analysis of the hadith text, sanad, and matan. The analysis is done with a descriptive-analytical approach. This article concludes that the Prophet’s hadith polemics towards the matan and the sanad, which are made up of the narrators of the hadith themselves. The harshest accusations were directed at the Prophet’s companions, especially at the person of Abu Hurairah and his role in narrating the hadith of the Prophet. Mahmud Abu Rayyah said that in Abu Hurairah’s history, there were lies because he had memorised many hadiths. Indirectly, this accusation essentially casts doubt on the authenticity of Abu Hurairah in particular and in general to all of the Prophet’s companions. In the study of hadith science, all of the Prophet’s companions must have a just nature.

Abstract

This article examines the tradition of nyekar, or grave pilgrimage, in the Islamic Archipelago as a religious and cultural phenomenon that has significance for Indonesian society. This paper is based on the important role of nyekar in the lives of Muslims in the archipelago, where the practice is not only seen as a form of respect for ancestors but also as a spiritual means to reflect on life after death and strengthen social relations. This tradition illustrates the fusion of Islamic teachings and local culture, making it a distinctive practice in Nusantara Islam. This research uses an interdisciplinary approach by combining theological, anthropological and sociological studies to understand the various aspects inherent in the nyekar tradition. The method used is qualitative, with data collection techniques through literature studies. The data were analysed descriptively-interpretatively to explore the meaning and importance of nyekar from various disciplinary perspectives. The research findings show that nyekar is a tradition full of religious and cultural values in which Nusantara Muslims combine religious beliefs with local customs. Besides reflecting religious practices, nyekar also serves as a means of maintaining social ties and preserving cultural identity. This article concludes that the nyekar tradition in Nusantara Islam has a dual role, namely as a form of worship and as an effort to preserve cultural values that are passed down between generations.

Abstract

This study aims to understand the role and meaning of Maulid Nabi celebrations from a cultural and religious perspective through a comprehensive literature review. Using a literature study approach, this research analyses various scholarly works, journal articles, books, and reports related to the implementation of Maulid Nabi in Indonesia. The main focus of this article is to explore how this religious tradition is adapted in the local cultural context, as well as how religious and cultural elements influence and enrich each other. In addition, the article also explores the dynamics of the development of Maulid Nabi celebrations in various regions, ranging from Java, Sumatra, and Sulawesi to Eastern Indonesia, where each region has unique characteristics in the celebration. The results of the review show that the celebration of the Prophet’s birthday not only functions as a means of worship and religious expression but also as a place to preserve local cultural identity. This tradition also facilitates social interaction among the community, strengthens community ties, and plays a role in building religious harmony. Thus, Maulid Nabi, from a cultural and religious perspective in Indonesia, is a tradition that contains multidimensional meanings, both in spiritual and socio-cultural contexts. This research is expected to provide a deeper understanding of the relevance of the Muludan tradition in the context of pluralistic Indonesia.

Abstract

This article aims to examine the rationalisation of the Megengan tradition practised by the community of Jabon Village, Kediri Regency. The Megengan tradition in this village has its distinctive features, particularly with the mandatory offering of gedhang rojo (a type of banana) and Apem cake during the practice. This study employs a qualitative case study method, with data collected through interviews with informants and a review of relevant literature, including articles and books. Using Max Weber's theory of social action and the concept of Verstehen (interpretive understanding), the study seeks to describe the rationality behind the community’s participation in the Megengan tradition. The findings reveal that the tradition is upheld to preserve and continue the routine practices of the ancestors. From the perspective of instrumental rationality, the aim of engaging in the Megengan tradition is to carry it out according to the financial capacities of each household. In terms of value-rationality, the act of offering food as charity reflects gratitude, and the prayers recited symbolise faith in Allah (SWT). Thirdly, in affective action, sharing food with neighbours demonstrates strong emotional ties and serves as a means of nurturing community bonds. Finally, the Megengan tradition embodies Islamic educational values, such as ukhuwah Islamiyah (brotherhood), charity, gratitude, empathy, and tolerance.

Abstract

This study examines how Islamic family law can adapt to the modern era without losing its core values. It also provides recommendations for more adaptive laws in response to contemporary developments. The modern world has undergone many changes in various aspects of life, including Islamic family law, which is governed by Sharia principles. New challenges posed by technology include child custody and personal data protection, divorce through digital platforms, and the validity of online marriage documents. Moreover, the spread of false information on social media can potentially disrupt court proceedings. This study uses normative research to analyze Islamic family law issues in the digital era. The main data sources consist of legal literature, statutory regulations, and official documents related to Islamic family law. Data collection techniques were carried out using literature studies, where researchers looked at and analyzed various relevant articles, scientific works and legal sources. The analysis is carried out by identifying and categorizing the normative challenges that have emerged due to advances in digital technology and assessing how Islamic family law rules adapt to these changes. Islamic family law can adapt to the modern era without losing its core values by following an approach that focuses on two important aspects: flexibility of Islamic legal principles and contextualized reinterpretation of social changes. Some of the ways to achieve this are the Maqasid al-Shariah Approach, Ijtihad (Reinterpretation), Fiqh Minority (Fiqh al-Aqalliyat), the Role of the State in Legislation and the Enforcement of Human Rights in Islamic Family Law.
