Abstract

The problem of balanced nutrition in Indonesia is still a serious problem. The importance of nutrition for the child's life in order to support its growth and development, the balanced consumption pattern needs to be applied by mother. The purpose of this research was to know the relation of knowledge and attitude of mother about balanced nutrition of children aged 24-59 months in working area of ​​Puskesmas Matsum Kecamatan Medan Area.             This  research was an analitic research which used multistage random sampling design with total sample of 110 children. Data were collected by using interviews on mothers having children aged 24-59 months using structured questionnaire. Types of food, Food Frequency Questionnaire, and total intake of macro and micro nutrients were seen using 24 hour recall form. The results showed that there is a relationship between knowledge and food pattern of children. This is evidenced by the existence of a significant relationship between knowledge with the type and amount of intake of macro and micro nutrients in children. The p value obtained for the relationship between knowledge with the type and amount of macro and micro nutrients was (p <0.05). Based on the results of the study also shows a relationship between attitude with the child's diet. This is evidenced by the value (p <0.05) which means, there is a significant relationship between the attitude with the type and amount of intake of macro nutrients and micronutrients in children. The food pattern of children aged 24-59 months seen from the consumption of rice every day. The most frequency of side dishes is fish and eggs. Vegetables are often consumed by children such as carrots and mustard also consume ‘kerupuk and ‘chiki’ every day. Suggestions in this study to the Public Health Office and Puskesmas to socialize balanced nutrition through a balanced nutrition handbook for health workers for ‘kader’ to keep voicing about balanced nutrition in the community. Abstract

Nutrition is a process of organisms using food that is normally consumed through several processes to maintain the normal life, growth and function of the organs and generate energy. Consumption of good nutrition and enough is needed by someone, especially in children under five. Nutrition consumption will affect how the nutritional status of children under five. The fact that malnutrition is irreversible (can not recover). Malnutrition that occurs in this golden period can lead to infectious diseases that often occur in infants is diarrhea. The high incidence of diarrhea in infants is influenced by the lack of family knowledge, especially mothers in doing diarrhea treatment at home. This study was conducted to acknowledge the relationship between mother’s care pattern with the incident of diarrhea in children under fivein the Village of Sirandorung, North Rantau Sub District Labuhanbatu Regency. This study was an analytical descriptive research with cross sectional design. The data were obtained from direct interviews to mother covering the data of parenting (feeding, hygiene and environmental sanitation, and child care), and diarrhea incidence data. Data analysis was done univariat, bivariate, using chi-square test. The results of this study indicate good feeding care pattern of 55.7%, hygiene and environmental sanitation categorized both by 44.3% and good child care by 78.5%. Most infants had diarrhea in the last 3 months (67.1%). There is a relationship between mother's feeding pattern with the incidence of diarrhea in infants (p = 0.0001). There is a relationship between hygiene care pattern and environmental sanitation with the incidence of diarrhea in infants (p = 0.0001). And there is a relationship between child care with the incidence of diarrhea in infants (p = 0.036). Based on the results of the study is expected to improve counseling about good parenting patterns to under five and for health workers to motivate health cadres in disseminating information to mothers about parenting patterns in children underfive.

Abstract

Adolescent are the group that started happy eating packaged food or snack with a frequency that often. Most snack consumed contain high salt and calories are certainly not good for the health of adolescent. But it is not supported by good behavior towards the use of nutrition label. Read the nutrition label is very important because it can know the nutrients contained in a food product. It can also limit the intake of sugar, salt, fat per day and limit the intake to stop munching a snack. The purpose of this research was to know the description of behavior of  the students at SMA Swasta Gajah Mada Medan about nutrition label on packaged food product. This research was descriptive study with cross sectional design. The sample in this research were all students of class X and XI which amount to 90 students. The research was carried out by giving questionnaire to the students and filled in by the students to know about knowledge, attitude, and action towards nutrition label. Data already collected was presented in the form distribution of frequency table and analyzed descriptively. The results showed that the knowledge of students at SMA Swasta Gajah Mada Medan was the most in good category (62.2%). The attitude of students also more in good category (73,3%) and the action of students was the most in the sufficient category (67,8%). Therefore, it is expected that the Education Service of Medan collaboration with Public Health Service of Medan improve the socialization about the nutrition label and its use through the socialization of messages common nutrition balanced to the age of school children consumer so that the introduction obtained can be applied from an early age and become their habit until adulthood later. Additionally, actions of student in paying of nutrition label need to be enhanced with giving information about nutrition label, how to use it and remind students to always get used pay attention label and nutrition label on product packaged food  that can be conveyed by the teacher through subject matter related to food nutrients. Abstract

School-aged children are vulnerable to health and nutrition probelms. Various nutritional problems are common in school age. This is due to a lack of nutritional intake required by children. Milk is one of the food which known to contain high protein and calcium nutrients which are needed by school-aged children. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between milk consumption with body-height and student achievement in Muhammadiyah Elementary School 02 Kampung Dadap Medan. This is an observational research with cross-sectional design. The sample in this research is all of the students in Muhammadiyah Primary School 02 Kampung Dadap Medan started from class II to V which amounted to 88 students. The data of student’s milk consumption were collected by interview using 24 hour food recall form and food frequency done by the researcher. Body-height was measured by microtoise. The data of learning achievement were taken from student report result of the first semester of year 2016/2017. The result of the research shows that the height of the students of Muhammadiyah 02 primary school in Kampung Dadap Medan is still in the category below normal (44,3%). Most of the student there are having a good school achievement (67%). There is a significant relationship between protein and calcium adequacy of milk consumption with student height with p value = 0,0001. Meanwhile, there are no significant relationship between protein and calcium adequacy of milk consumption with learning achievement withp value = 0,193 and p = 0,239. Suggestions for the school to help increase the student’s milk consumption because it is beneficial for growth and development. In addition, students are advised to consume milk 2 glasses per day to meet the daily intake of a more optimal nutrition.   Keywords: Milk consumption, body height, learning achievement, student of elementary school

Abstract

The nutritional problems in Indonesia are still a serious problem. It basically starts with an unbalanced intake of nutrients. To meet the intake of balanced nutrients seen from the quality and quantity, as well as the suitability of the amount of a food consumed. The purpose of this study was to determine the description of student satisfaction level on the quality of the dish on the implementation of food and nutritional status of students in Pondok Pesantren Islamiyah Padang Garugur District Padang Bolak Padang Lawas Utara. This research was descriptive research conducted in Pondok Pesantren Islamiyah of Padang Garugur District of Padang Bolak Regency of Padang Lawas Utara with Cross Sectional approach on 76 students, using proportional Stratified Random Sampling technique, data analysis by using frequency distribution and cross tabulation. Data collection by direct interview using questionnaires and weighing Weight using manual scales and measuring height using microtoise. Level of satisfaction with the quality of dishes (portion, color, texture, and taste) of food. Satisfied with the rice portion of 92.1%, not satisfied with the portion of animal side dishes, vegetable side dishes, and vegetables respectively 59.2%, 60.5%, and 55.3%. Not satisfied with the color of animal side dishes, vegetable side dishes, and vegetables respectively as much as 32.9, 42.1, and 14.4%. Not satisfied with the texture of rice, animal side dishes, vegetable side dishes, vegetables respectively 14.5%, 19.7%, 26.3%, and 19.7%. Not satisfied with the taste of animal side dishes, vegetable side dishes, and vegetables respectively as much as 15.8%, 34.2%, and 25.0%. Suggestions in this study to the school is expected to improve the quality of food in Pondok Pesantren Islamiyah Padang Garugur Padang Bolak District Padang Lawas Utara in particular portion and variety of food presented to students so that the nutritional intake of students is met so that the nutritional status of students in the normal category. Abstract

Nutritional problems is one of a public health problems that has not been completely resolved, starting from under weight to the overweight. In the current era of globalization brought many changes including eating pattern such as eating fast food and physical activity.This study aimed looking for the description fast food consumption habits and physical activity with nutritional status on students of SMA Negeri 1 Padangsidimpuan. The design of research used a cross sectional method. The population in this study is all students in SMA Negeri 1 Padangsidimpuan as many as 658 people. with a sample of 87 people. Data obtained using food frequency and 24-hour food recall, physical activity data obtained using the recall activity and nutritional status measured by the BMI for age.             Results of research showed that the highest student frequency of nutritional status distribution were fatness and obesity about 48,3%. The average energy intake, protein intake, fat intake, and carbohidrat intake were 30,30%, 28,08%, 49,18%, and 28,61%. Based on the nutritional status of fatness and obesity were 53,1% with mild activity, and there were  also a normal nutiritional status were 39,2% with mild activity.            Factors relate of nutritional status are fast food consumption habits and physical activity. Suggested to the students who are fatness, it would be better pay attention consumption habits and physical activity such as doing exercise in order to get the ideal weight.   Keywords:       Fast food, Physical Activity, Nutritional Status

Abstract

Under-five-years-old children weighing in Posyandu useful for monitoring the health and growth of under-five-years-old children. This study aimed to describe the socio demographic, knowledge, and attitudes of mothers in under-five-years-old children weighing in Posyandu Jambur Pulau Perbaungan Subdistrict in 2016. The type of this research is decriptive research with cross sectional design. The population are mothers who have children aged 12-36 months. The sampling technique is sistematic random sampling, sample size is 63 people. The research instrument are questionnaire on maternal characteristics, growth chart (KMS), and weighing notes of posyandu. The data was collected then analyzed descriptively. The results showed that most of mothers didn’t regularly weigh their children to Posyandu was equal to 60.3%, results of cross tabulation showed that women with > 2 under-five-years-old children  didn’t regularly weigh their children to posyandu (79.4%), mothers with low education (100%) didn’t regularly weigh their children to Posyandu, working mothers didn’t regularly weigh their children to posyandu (85.7 %), mothers who live near from posyandu didn’t regularly weigh their children to posyandu (94.4%). Mothers with less knowledge didn’t regularly weigh their children to Posyandu (90.6%) and mother has bad attitude on posyandu didn’t regularly weigh their children to posyandu (96.4%). People of Jambur Pulau especially mothers should get education/counseling about function of posyandu and the importance of under-five-years-old children's weight to increase awareness of mothers in monitoring the growth status of children and expected  have an impact on the regularity of a under-five-years-old children's weight  at least eight times a year. Abstract

The optimal growth of school age children depends on the quality and quantitiy of their nutrition. The lack of nutrition can cause disorder on the child’s body growth, such as stunting. The purpose of thisresearch is to analyze the family’s of characteristic, eating patterns, and physical activity of stunting children at SDN 176350 HutagurgurDistrict ofDoloksanggulHumbangHasundutan. This research is descriptive analysis with cross sectional design. This research includes family’s characteristic by giving questioner, counting the adequacy of macro and micro nutrition, food variety and frequency by using 24 hours food recall method and food frequency method. The height of children is measured with microtoice. The result generally shows that the height of the children is 62,8% short and 37,2% very short. The family’s characteristic mostly shows that the mother of stunting children are farmer with percentage of 88,4%. Family’s income is mostly below the minimum wage standart with percentage of 58,1%. The number of children in family with stunting child  are mostly more than two children with  percentage of 95,3%. The adequacy of macro and micro nutrition on stunting children is classified as lack of nutrition with percentage of energy 95,3% protein 93%,calsium 100%,phosphor 58,1%,magnesium 11,6%, zinc 97,7%, vitamin A 95,5% and vitamin C 93%. The physical activity of stunting children are mostly moderate with percentage of 51,2%. Based on the research result, expected to family especially the mother, to providea balanced nutrition intake tochildren. The school and the public health institution recomenndedto cooperate on giving nutrition counseling and also monitoring the nutrition to improve the nutrition status of school-age children .  Keyword:Stunting, Characteristic of Family, Eating Patterns, Physical Activity

Abstract

Worker nutritional status is one of the important factors that contribute  in supporting workforce productivity. The fulfillment of nutrients will increase a better workforce productivity. This research aims to determine the description of nutrient intakes, workforce productivity and nutritional status of palm oil workers of  PT. Socfindo Sungai Liput Aceh Tamiang. This research is descriptive study with the samples of research about 40 workers in the processing plant. Data collection method is collected by  interviews using employee identity questionnaires, food recall forms and body measurements of workers including weight and height. The results of this research indicate that 65.0% of Socfindo factory workers had normal nutritional status. Workforce productivity of workers is 72,5% productive workers with normal nutritional status 65,4% and workers withnormal hemoglobin level 72,5%. Based on this research, it is recommended to the company of Socfindo palm oil factory especially in the health department to provide guidance to the workers to improve their knowledge about nutrition and do routine health check up related to nutritional status. Abstract

One of the causes of nutritional problems or Children's growth and development is nurturing,. Among others,  gives attention, time and support for comply the  physical, mental, and social children. Mothers who get married at an early age may not yet understand the good parenting, especially in the fulfillment of nutrition. The purpose of this study is to know the description of parenting with the nutritional status of children in mothers who were married at an early age in the village Tiga Panah Seberaya Karo district of North Sumatra province Year 2016.               This type of research is descriptive research with cross sectional design. The population is all toddlers which born from mothers who married under the age of 19 years, amounting to 66 (total sampling). The data collected in this study include eating pattern, cleanliness pattern, health care pattern and  nutrition status of a toddler based on  W/A, H/A and W/H. The method used is a direct interview using a questionnaire to know the action of  mothers in giving the pattern of eating, pattern of  hygiene, and health pattern for toddlers. Then, to obtain data on weight and height toddlers do for weighing and measuring. The data obtained were analyzed using Chi-square test.               The results showed that category of good eating pattern is 50%, and category of not good eating pattern is 50%, the category of good cleanliness pattern  is 51.5%, and the lowest category of not good cleanliness pattern is 48.5%, and category of  health care pattern is 75.8% and the lowest category of not good health care pattern is 24.2%. While the nutritional status of children is based on W/A mostly in the category of malnutrition is 63.6% and the lowest category of good nutrition is 36.4%, nutritional status of children based on H/A mostly in the normal category is 65.2% and the lowest category short is 34.8%, and the nutritional status of children is based on W/H mostly in skinny category  is 69.7% and the lowest normal category is 30.3%.                Toward health workers to improve the activities about good parenting to the mother and invites mothers to do regularly weigh and height measurement to monitor the abnormal growth of underfive children.
