Abstract

Background: Menarche age is often considered for various reasons. It is one of the major indices of the female fertility which includes the period up to the menopause. More critically, menarche marks the onset of ovarian activity associated with reproduction and affects breast cancer risk. Some earlier studies reported that subjects who had menarche before 13 years of age were at a significantly higher risk of cancer cervix. Nutrition has an important bearing on age at menarche. Menarche is attained earlier by well-nourished adolescents. This study aimed to assess the relationship between menarche age and body mass index.Subjects and Method: This was a cross-sectional study conducted at Ki Hajar Dewantara Foundation Junior High School, Kota Pinang, Labuhanbatu Selatan, North Sumatera, in December 2017. A sample of 58 school girls attending Junior High School was selected for this study. The dependent variable was the menarche age. The independent variable was the body mass index (BMI). Body weight was measured by a scale. Body height was measured by micro toise. Other variables were measured by questionnaire. The data were analyzed by simple logistic regression.Results: BMI ≥ 25 was associated with an earlier menarche age (OR = 0.71; 95%CI= 0.20 to 0.85; p= 0.046).Conclusion: BMI ≥ 25 is associated with an earlier menarche age.Keywords: menarche age, body mass index, adolescentsCorrespondence: Asrika Sari. Abstract

Maternal breast feedy is the best nutrition at the early age of the baby's life. Exclusive breastfeeding is given only breast milk for baby without any additional food up to six months old. The Target exclusive breastfeeding in the Health Service of North Padang Lawas District is 85% but the scope of exclusive breastfeeding in the Puskesmas of Pangirkiran in February 2014 amounted to 30.5% and the scope of exclusive breastfeeding in August 2014 amounted to 36.2%. This study was an observational research design with a case-control and the study aims to analyze the influence of predisposing factors  (knowledge,  attitudes), enabling factors (lactation), reinforcing factors (family support, support health workers) loward exclusive breastfeeding in the working area Puskesmas of Pangirkiran Halongonan sub district of Halongonan district of North Padang Lawas. The Population of this research is all breast feedy mothers  who has baby in 6 – 12 months. The sample is 144 people consist of is people in 72 cases and 72 controls. Based on the results of the study indicate the variables of knowledge, attitude, lactation, family support and support health workers influence on exclusive breastfeeding. Expected to health workers in health centers in the Puskesmas Pangirkiran to further improve counseling on exclusive breastfeeding to the public so that exclusive breastfeeding to the baby can be improved.

Abstract

There are five districts with the highest stunting rate in North Sumatra and in Langkat district by 38.7 percent in 2017. This research looks at the analysis of the implementation of specific and sensitive nutrition intervention programs to reduce stunting rates in langkat. This research is a qualitative study with a phenomological design using purposive sampling method with 8 informants with the criteria of program implementers and field implementers and the community using CFIR tools to see the implementation of specific and sensitive nutrition intervention programs to reduce stunting in toddlers in Langkat. From the analysis of 31 CFIR constructs, there are 6 strong constructs of influence, where 4 constructs have a positive effect, namely the characteristics of the agency structure, pressure to change, self-confidence, program adoption and 2 constructs have a negative effect, namely external networks and external needs and incentives. There are 4 constructs that have a weak but very impactful effect where 3 constructs have a negative effect, namely the impact and desired change, the involvement of the leader and available resources and 1 construction has a positive effect, namely the level of individual change on the reduction of stunting rates in children under five in Langkat. However, improvements are needed in terms of cooperation between agencies, budgeting, additional special programs outside the specific and sensitive nutrition intervention program, the appointment of a special program leader and support for facilities, infrastructure and human resources for the implementation of the specific and sensitive nutrition intervention program in Langkat district.

Abstract

Pendahuluan; Salah satu masalah gizi yang dapat menimbulkan dampak kesehatan adalah obesitas. Obesitas yang terjadi pada masa anak-anak dapat berlanjut hingga dewasa. Obesitas pada usia dewasa merupakan pemicu timbulnya penyakit degeneratif seperti penyakit jantung koroner, stroke, hipertensi, dan diabetes melitus. Tujuan; Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh konsumsi makanan jajanan, aktivitas fisik, screen time, dan durasi tidur terhadap obesitas pada remaja di Madrasah Aliyah Negeri Binjai. Bahan dan Metode; Jenis penelitian ini adalah case control dengan sampel penelitian berjumlah 82 orang yang terdiri dari 41 kasus dan 41 kontrol. Pengambilan sampel dengan metode purposive sampling. Sampel penelitian adalah remaja yang berusia 14-18 tahun dan duduk di kelas 10 dan 11. Data obesitas diperoleh dengan pengukuran berat dan tinggi badan, konsumsi makanan jajanan menggunakan semi-quantitative food frequencies questionnaire, aktivitas fisik dihitung menggunakan nilai Physical Activity Level, dan screen time diperoleh dengan recall screen time, dan durasi tidur diperoleh dengan kuesioner. Analisis data dilakukan dengan uji chi-square dan regresi logistik berganda. Hasil; Hasil uji chi-square menunjukkan ada pengaruh konsumsi makanan jajanan (p= 0,000), screen time (p= 0,026), dan durasi tidur (p= 0,000) dengan obesitas. Aktivitas fisik tidak berpengaruh terhadap obesitas pada remaja (p=0,253). Hasil uji regresi logistik berganda membuktikan konsumsi makanan jajanan merupakan faktor risiko yang paling berpengaruh terhadap obesitas (p=0,000, OR=15,750, 95% CI=4,792-51,825). Kesimpulan; Diperoleh bahwa ada pengaruh kuat antara konsumsi makanan jajanan, screen time, dan durasi tidur terhadap obesitas pada remaja di Madrasah Aliyah Negeri Binjai.

Abstract

Secondhand newspapers are the material commonly used for packing food. However, secondhand newspapers are not safe to used for packing fried food because the ink used for printing on newsprint paper contains Lead and can move into fried by the oil. The low knowledge of fried food sellers about the dangers of using secondhand newspapers as packing fried food can threaten the health of consumers. The objective of the study was to determine the influence of extension about the dangers of using secondhand newspapers as packing fried food to the behavior of sellers in Asrama Haji Medan. The result of this study showed that before extension 50% of fried food sellers have medium knowledge and after extension increases become 72,7%. Before extension 9,1% of the fried food sellers have good attitude and after extension increases become 36,4%. Before extension 9,1% of fried food sellers have good action and after extension increases become 27,3%. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that extension with individual approach and media leaflet can increase the behavior of fried food sellers about the dangers of using secondhand newspapers as packing fried food. Therefore, researcher suggest to BPOM to give a extension to fried food sellers with individual approach and media leaflet to change the behavior of sellers be better and further enhance the dissemination activities about the dangers of using secondhand newspaper as packing fried food that the information to public. Abstract

Gastritis is disorder of health that appear caused by wrong food consumption pattern. Usually, gastritis was happen to whoses haven’t a food a regular food consumption pattern until excited production or mucous acid. This research is a descriptive study using cross-sectional design. The aim of the research was to know the description of food consumption pattern among gastritis patients. The sample is all gastritis patient was visiting puskesmas Kampar Kiri Hulu for December 2011-January 2012 amounting to 53 people. The result of research is showed 37,7% gastritis patient have a good quantity of food and 62,3% less food quantity. 17% gastritis patients where eat with right food wich be not increase gastritis and 83% not match, temporary that 28,3% gastritis patient eat with regular schedule and 71,7% unreguler. Seldom relapse frequency with good food quantity in average 24,2% and 75,8% often relapse 30%  gastritis patient increased seldom relapse with less food quantity and 70% gastritis patient increased often relapse. Gastritis patient eat right food with seldom relapse frequency 100% and for variety food which unright gastritis that seldom 31,8% and 68,3% often. For regular eat that schedule can increase seldom gastritis relapse is 100% where as fo unreguler eat schedule can increase seldom gastritis relapse 36,8% and 62,2% is often. It is suggested for public health to increase the healthy service given the information about a right food consumption pattern unreguler must to tose their bad habit it to decrease the suffer of gastritis and ensure for gastritis sufferer to eat gradually. The objective of this research is to know the acceptable of chilli saucewith the addition of freshrosellaand chilli saucewith the additiondriedrosella. The variation of the addition are 10%, 20% and 30%. Acceptability test chilli saucerosellais conducted by using hedonic test to 30 panelists. Data wereanalyzed by using barlett test and analysis of variance test. These results showed that the addition 10% fresh rosella results in the most favorite taste by the panelist. While thechilisaucewiththe addition 10% dried rosella is the most favorite with color categoriy. The addition of rosella with many varieties influence the taste and color of chili sauce significantly. There is no influencing of the addition of rosella on the flavor and texture of chili sauce It is suggestedthatpeople use the rosella as analternative materialnatural dyein the manufacturesauces. Abstract

Noodle is one of the most popular types of food in the community. Currently, the noodle was made as a replacement food of other staple foods such as rice. Generally, raw material of noodle is flour. However, the flour can also be modified with other foods such as tempe and red sweet potato. The purpose of  this research is to know the comparative influence of wheat flour, tempe and red sweet potato. This research is an experimental study which is designed by a random draft  with two factors namely red sweet potato and tempe by comparison (30% : 20%, 25% : 25%, 20% : 30%). The influence of addition  tempe and  red sweet potato were analyzed with anova test and double Duncan test. The parameters analyzed  include the lucrative nature of the organoleptic color, aroma, taste and texture of wet noodle. The results showed that the organoleptic test colors, aromas, and flavors of the most preferred wet noodle is noodles tempe with the addition of 20%, and red sweet potato 30% while the wet noodle texture is the most preferred panelist is wet noodle tempe with the addition of 25% and 25% red sweet potato. Based on the analysis of anova (α=5%), The addition of tempe and red sweet potato with different concentration on the creation of a wet noodle gave different effects to the color, aroma and flavor. But didn’t give a different affect on the texture of a wet noodle. Keywords : wet noodle, tempe, red sweet potato, organoleptic test

Abstract

Tea has a lot of the nutrients for body such as polyphenols, tannins, vitamins and minerals, but the function of tannins in tea can be a barrier to the absorption of iron when tea is consumed at meals. If the absorbtion of iron is impared and a little iron consumption, the body will have iron deficiency can lead to low hemoglobin levels or anemia. The purpose of this study is to determine the behavior of drinking tea and hemoglobin (Hb) levels of students in Vocational High School 1 Jorlang Hataran Marlawan Dolok village. This research is descriptive study. The population of this study were the students of class X, XI and XII The Vocational High School 1 Jorlang Hataran Marlawan Dolok village. Samples were taken 80 people with simple random technique. The data was collected using questionnaires with the form of 24-hour food recall. Results showed that behavior about tea and hemoglobin levels of students in The Vocational High School 1 Jorlang Hataran Marlawan Dolok village almost entirely at the level of moderate tea consumption was 73.80% and the rate of 23.70% by weight of tea consumption, with hemoglobin levels also largely normal and anemic as much as 83.05% in moderate tea consumption and 63.16% by weight of tea consumption. Based on the results of this study suggested to the students in The Vocational High School 1 Jorlang Hataran Marlawan Dolok village to reduce the consumption of tea, especially when in conjunction with eating and increased nutrient intake by choosing foods that are more diverse. keywords: tea consumptions, hemoglobin levels, vocational students

Abstract

Everybody wants to have long, useful, and happy life. To life a healthy life in our old days needs a supply of good and nutritious food which is balanced with the elderly’s physiological condition. The objective the study is to find out the description of the food consumption and disease pattern among elderly in the working area of Health Center Tapaktuan, Tapaktuan Subdistrict, Aceh Selatan District in 2012. This is a descriptive study with crosssectional design. The population of this study was 638 person of  ≥ 60 years of age, and 85 of them were selected to be the samples for this study through systematic random sampling technique. The data of the food consumption pattern were obtained through questionnaire distribution and food frequency form, while the data for disease pattern were obtained by looking at the kind of disease and the length of being sick. The result of this study showed that most of the kinds of food consumed by the elderly was in the inadequate category 55,3%, the texture of the food was in the improper category 61,2%, and the eating frequency of the elderly disorganized. Based on the pattern of disease they experienced, in general the elderly has suffered from degenerative disease such as hypertension, rheumatism, diabetes mellitus, heart disease, osteoporosis, and stroke with the length of being sick of > 2 weeks 47,1%.   Keywords: Alpha Food Consumption Pattern, Disease pattern, Elderly
