Abstract

Partial color blindness is a condition that hinders the recognition and categorization of specific colors, resulting in discomfort and a series of disparities for those affected. Opportunities to pursue aspirations are often denied due to regulations in professions such as nursing, engineering, and public service that impose binding rules regarding partial color blindness, leading to the curtailment of rights for many individuals with this condition. Consequently, it can have profound psychological implications for individuals with partial color blindness. This qualitative research, employing a case study approach, aims to uncover the factors that contribute to optimism among male university students with partial color blindness. Through semi-structured interviews with three male participants and employing thematic analysis, the study successfully identifies three key factors that influence the formation of optimism: (1) social support, (2) confidence, and (3) self-esteem. These factors empower participants to face the psychological challenges posed by partial color blindness and foster a sense of optimism

Abstract

Using the ethnographic approach, this qualitative psychological research explored the issues in the social interaction between immigrants and the host community. Research data was collected through field research, using interviews with and observations of migrants and locals. Open coding was employed to crystallize the resulting data into meaningful categories. This research identified three central issues in immigrant-local social encounter. They were societal stereotypes, intergroup prejudices, and ethnocentrism. These issues resulted from societal categories, social identities, and the particular ways in which people tackled the challenges of social interaction.

The method used in this study is a quantitative experimental research with a pretest-posttest control group design. The population of this study were 18 people who were SLOMPN student athletes. The hypothesis test used in this study was the Wilcoxon signed rank test. Based on the results obtained, it shows a value of 0.018 (sig <0.005), this means that there is an effect of self-awareness training on mental toughness in student athletes. Self-awareness training can increase mental toughness in student athletes.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to describe the application of awareness training to increase the self-confidence of young athletes. Self-confidence supports the formation of training commitments, skills development, involvement in competition, and potential physical abilities for future sports. Using a quantitative experimental method, with a quasi experimental design, and pretest-posttest control group design. Sampling used saturated sampling with a population of 24 young DBON athletes. Using the Kolmogorov Smirnov normality test. Using the paired t-test hypothesis test and gain score. The results of the paired t-test showed that the significance value of the pre-test and post-test pairs of the experimental group was 0.000, which means that there was a significant difference in average. The gain score test results showed an increase in the experimental group 8.17, while in the control group 1.83. The application of awareness training is effective in increasing the self-confidence of young athletes. The significant increase in the self-confidence of young athletes after awareness training can be seen from the significant difference in the mean between the pre-test and post-test in the experimental group. This shows that awareness training has the potential to increase self-confidence and provide benefits for coaching young athletes.

Abstract

A high number of criminal theft phenomena in Indonesia are carried out by recidivists. Recidivism is the repetition of the same crime which causes the individual to return to being a prisoner within a certain period of time. Based on the preliminary study it was found that the perpetrator learned this theft from the closest person in his environment. This study aims to examine the process of the formation of repeated theft criminal behavior associated with modeling from the perspective of Bandura and the influencing factors. The research method used is a qualitative case study approach. Data was collected by means of semi-structured interviews with three participants and a thematic analysis was carried out. This study found that there is a pattern of learning theft behavior in recidivists, namely (1) attention process, the individual is interested in the theft after directly seeing the theft process being carried out (2)retention process, the strategy and criminal methods of theft are stored in the form of verbal and visual coding ( 3) motoric production, starting to try because of cooperation until they become used to it (4) motivational process, the behavior is maintained because stealing is considered a way to easily achieve needs. The ease with which criminal behavior is found in the surrounding environment and accepted becomes an external factor, while internal factors are low self-esteem, low self-control, and a long criminal history. The results of the analysis also show that this behavior is imitated and maintained by recidivists by considering rewards. Key word : Modelling, Theft recidivism, Bandura's perspective
