Abstract

The microorganism content of floor and the air in the surgery room of BundaThamrin Hospital Medan city in 2013. Hospital is a unit for complex medical servicewhere a number of people at the same time, interact each other directly or indirectlyhave the same interest with patient in hospital. There for hospital need to keep andmaintain environmental sanitation to prevent nosokomial infection. The room sanitationof hospital including : ventilation, floor and wall, lighting, clean water resource, toiletand bathroom soliet weste disposal, and cleaning procedure of floor and themicroorganism content of floor and the air in the surgery room of Bunda ThamrinHospital Medan. The research is a descriptive research which done throughobservation in the surgery room. The primary data were got directly from thelaboratory result of observation the floor and the air at the surgery room the dataanalysed in frequency table. The result of showed that based on the result ofobservations it appear that the already qualified in accordance with Kepmenkes RI No.1204 2004 ventilation, clean water resource and soliet weste disposal. Mean while thefloor and wall, lighting, toilet in the bathroom and were not appear standardrequirement. Laboratory test result found that microorganism account was 3.23 ~ 3CFU/cm2 before cleaning and 2,4 ~ 2 CFU/cm2 before cleaning and 10 CFU/cm2 aftersleaning. It is suggested to hospital management to improve the condition hospitalenvironmental sanitation appear Kepmenkes RI No. 1204 2004.Keywords : Surgery Room, Environment Sanitation, Microorganism, Floor,

Abstract

The exposure of  dust in a long time at  work place will cause the heavy stress on organ of respiratory system. The purpose of this research is to know how the correlation of dust concentration with lung function on press-packing process of battered at Tanjung Mulia Hilir Medan 2013. This research is an analytic survey with cross sectional design, which sample are 19 people (total population). Data are analyze by using chi-square test and to know the correlation  using multiple regression logistic test with Backward Stepwise method. The result of research showed that the dust concentration at four point measure at the work place still under the Threshold Limit Value (< 3mg/m3) which are 0.014 mg/m3, 0.007 mg/m3, 0.080 mg/m3 and 0.020 mg/m3. In other hand the lung function shows that 4 workers (20.1%) have disorder and 15 workers (78.9%) are normal. The chi-square test found that the variable of  age, periode of work, a history of lung disease showed has not a significant correlation with lung function. But, the smoking habit and using of PPE has a significant correlation with lung function. Multiple logistic regression analysis  showed that the use of  PPE has more significant correlation with lung function               (p =0.038) than smoking habit. From the result, the worker recommended have to wear personal protective equipment like mask and stop smoking habit to prevent lung function disorder. Abstract

Analysis the concentration of ammonia in the air and sanitation of poultry and health sigh on workers in the poultry Desa Sei. Limbat Kecamatan Selesai Kabupaten Langkat. Poultry is the agribusiness that still developed in Indonesia. CV.Bima is poultry located in the stabor Dusun III Desa Sei. Limbat Kecamatan Selesai Kabupaten Langkat. One of the negative impacts of the poultry odor is caused by the high concentration of ammonia gas. This research aims to know The concentration of ammonia in the air and sanitation of poultry and health sigh on workers in the poultry of Desa Sei. Limbat Kecamatan Selesai Kabupaten Langkat. The type of research used is descriptive. Population in this research is 32 people workers that is used in total sampling. The results showed that the concentration of ammonia in the air in poultry of Desa Sei. Limbat Kecamatan Selesai Kabupaten Langkat did not exceeded the level of the quality standard specified in KepMenLH No 50 in 1996. The highest point on range performed in area behind red chicken livestock is 0,1485 ppm. Conclusion of this research is the concentration of ammonia (NH3) in the air have not exceeded the quality standards. Based on the characteristics of workers are age, education, gender, work hours per day, working period, and smoking, there are 9 workers who have respiratory tract disorders and 6 people who have complaints of eye irritation, while for the complaints of skin irritation there are no workers getting it. Therefore it's recommended to chicken farm to be attention health of worker by give self protective tools for workers , execute poultry sanitation properly and taking care of poultry environment. Abstract

Analysis the levels of carbon monoxide (CO) and nitrogen dioxide (NO2) in the air and respiratory disturbance cadger in the market Sangkumpal Bonang Padangsidimpuan city in 2013. The market is a public place where there is a process of buying and selling between sellers and buyers. Sangkumpal bonang market is one of the traditional markets are located in the Padangsidimpuan city. The activity of cadger who trade on the sidewalk and the street market can lead to cadger exposed by the pollutants. This is caused by transportation activities which may result in respiratory tract disturbance. This research aims to know the levels of carbon monoxide (CO) and nitrogen dioxide (NO2) in the air and respiratory disturbances at cadger in the market Sangkumpal Bonang Padangsidimpuan city in 2013. This type of research is descriptive. The sample in this research 67 people with using proportional stratified random sampling. The results showed that the majority of respondents aged 41-50 years (38.3%), Most were female gender (67.2%), education level is senior high school (38.8%), respondents who smoked (49.3%), respondents have been trading for ≤ 10 years (49.3%) and have been trading hours of respondents > 8 hours per day (55.2%). Based on the measurement results, the highest point on the front is 18 323 μg/Nm3 for CO and 85.10 μg/Nm3 for NO2. A total of 26 cadger who have complaints of respiratory tract disturbance. The conclusion from this study is that the levels of CO and NO2 around Sangkumpal Bonang market has not exceeded the quality standard. It is recommended to Governments to create policies that govern about the trade cadger in order to avoid exposure to CO and NO2 resulting from transportation activities which could lead to the occurrence of respiratory tract disturbances. Abstract

Hygiene, sanitation and health of skin complaints the residents of padang bulan village boarding selayang subdistrict medan selayang I. Complaints of skin health is one thing that is very often experienced by boarder, residents of the boarding school, boarding house residents and also in the form of a typical hives (morning, afternoon, evening or night) and the emergence of full-red swollen bumps on the surface of the skin and itch. Faizal research (2011), in the men's dormitory USU percentage who experience health complaints of skin by 72,4%, the impact of the use of water sourced from the well bore, the behavior of self hygiene boarder who is still lacking, and love swapping clothes with friends This research aims to find out the hygiene sanitation and health of skin complaints the residents of Padang Bulan Village boarding Selayang Subdistrict Medan Selayang I. This research method is descriptive. The population is 536 people and the sample in this study was 100 people. Sampling was done by purposive sampling criteria respondents boarding house residents who have settled >6 months. The results showed that respondents who experienced the health complaints of skin with a sense of the typical hives (morning, afternoon, or night) that as many as 38 people (38.0%), who experience health complaints of skin with red swollen bumps on the surface of the skin and itch that as many as 33 people (33,0%). The conclusions of this research are the complaints of skin health experienced by the occupants of a home boarding The village of Padang Bulan Selayang Subdistrict Medan Selayang I caused because of personal hygiene factors are unfavourable. Boarding house residents are advised to be more attention to personal hygiene and expected to home owners to pay more attention to kost basic sanitation home kost which includes water supply and means of garbage disposal. Abstract

Rhodamine B and formaldehyde is colouration substance and preservative substance that prohibits to be utilized in food product. But there are still traders using rhodamine B and formaldehyde in food products and beverages. Brown sugar is one of the food ingredients that are often encountered in daily life. The purpose of this research is to determine the rhodamine B dye and preservative formaldehyde in brown sugar in the traditional market sub-district Medan Baru in 2013 and determine the level of knowledge and attitude of brown sugar’s traders. This research is a simple descriptive. The method used is applicable in the examination of laboratory in brown sugar with chromatography paper (rhodamine B) and destilation method (formaldehyde) , interview using a questionnaire to 12 traders in traditional market sub-district Medan Baru. Based on the results of laboratory examination of the rhodamine B dye and preservative formaldehyde in brown sugar is known that all (100%) of brown sugar does not contain dyes rhodamine B and preservative formaldehyde. The results of questionnaire showed that traders with knowledge of enough category as many as 9 (75.0%), traders with knowledge of good category as many as 2 (16.7%) and traders with knowledge of less category as many as 1 (8.3%). Traders with  attitude of enough category as many as 7 (58.3%), traders with  attitude of good category as many as 4 (33.3%) and traders with attitude of less category as many as 1 (8.3%). Traders are advised to pay more attention to the brown sugar to be sold and the buyer to be more careful selection of the brown sugar that is not harmful for consumption. To the government to more tighten supervision and checks periodically on brown sugar so there is no use dye substances nor preservative not allowed as rhodamine B and formaldehyde.

Abstract

The effectiveness of activated carbon in decreasing the peroxide levels and purification colors on used cooking oil. The need of cooking oil is increase. Because of the price of cooking oil is relative expensive and the urgency of economic, unwittingly, people often consume the used cooking oil that contains high levels of peroxide continuously. Activated carbon is an adsorbent that is used to process the used cooking oil. The purpose of this research is to determine effectiveness of activated carbon in decreasing peroxide levels in the used cooking oil. The type of research is Quasy Experiment with Pre and Post Test Design. The used cooking oil as control was not given the activated carbon and the other mixed 1 gr, 2 gr and 3 gr of the activated carbon into every 100 grams used cooking oil. Each done three times. The result of research showed that peroxide levels of the used cooking oil without being mixed the activated carbon is 12,0 meq/kg with the yellow brown color. Peroxide levels of each activated carbon 1 gr, 2 gr, and 3 gr were 5,4 meq/kg, 1,1 meq/kg, and 1,2 meq/kg with the yellow golden color, while according to Departemen Perindustrian SNI 3741-1995, the peroxide levels that permitted is 2 meq/kg. Based of Anova One-Way, the result showed there were significant differences between various treatment of the activated carbon to decrease peroxide levels in the used cooking oil. BNT test result showed that 2 gr activated carbon is the most effective to decrease peroxide levels in the used cooking oil. Suggested to the people especially to fried merchant or for another food that is processed using cooking oil as an intermediary, to use 2 gr activated carbon to every 100 grams the used cooking oil. Abstract

Abstract Analysis the waste management system and trader’s behaviour at Horas Market Pematangsiantar city in 2013.Waste is any materials unused and rejected as worthless or unwanted, useless or profitless activity, expanding and consuming thoughtlessly or carelessly. Subsequent increased of human activitis impact to the increasis of waste. Worse system of waste management will give negative health effects and reduce the quality of urban environment. Therefore it is needed a research to investigate waste management system at Horas Market in Pematangsiantar city. The main purpose of this research is to analoge the waste management system and trader’s behaviour at Horas Market in 2013. The research used descriptive survey method and the population was whole trader’s at Horas Market about 1.219 people with 95 people as sample size. This research used stratified random sampling method by grouping trader’s based on the trader’s group. The resulted of this research showed that most of respondents were female (53,7%), between age of 25-35 years old (36,8%), based on education background were 66,3% senior high school. The waste storage bins at Horas Market is not sufficient. The knowledge level of the respondents in Horas Market in managing waste mostly good category (60,0%). The respondents attitude was mostly manage the waste in good category about 85,3%. The respondents action in managing waste was medium category (76,8%) and good category about 16,8%. Therefore, the government is expected to give more attention and provide the facilities of waste storage bins based on the number of waste generation. Market official is expected to increase the waste transportation and the number of sanitation workers also give the information to the trader’s about a good waste management. All trader’s are expected to provide the storage bins and increase their knowledge,  their attitude and their action about good waste management. Abstract

ABSTRACT   Scabies is known in Indonesia as gudik, kudis, buduk, kerak, penyakit ampera or gatal agogo or body louse. This diseases is transmitted from human being to the human being, from animals to human being, and conversely. The prevalence of scabies at the Puskesmas (primary health care) in Indonesia is 4,6% – 12,9% and scabies is on the third rank of 12 skin diseases. The prevalence of scabies is the higher in environment with the higher density and the poor sanitation. This research aims to study a correlation between environment sanitation and personal hygiene with the scabies incident at Rutan (detention center) branch of Sibuhuan, regency of Padang Lawas. The applied method in this research is analytic by corss sectional design. The population of this research is all of prisoners who live in Detention center branch of Sibuhuan. The sample is total population for 42 persons. The data is analyzed by univarian and bivarian with Chi – square test on significant level 95%. The results of study indicates that environment sanitation variable, i.e. the floor condition (p = 0,001) has a correlation to the scabies incident. The variable of ventilation, humidity, lighting and availability of pure water are not considered because fulfill requirement by the density of the detention center did not fulfill the health requirement. The personal hygiene variable, i.e. genital cleanness (p = 0,029) and clothes and towel cleanness (p = 0,014) has a correlation to the scabies incident. While the skin and hair cleanness variables (p = 0,286), the hand, foot and nail cleanness (p = 0,636) and the cleanness of bad and bad cover (p = 0,654) has not a correlation to the scabies incident. It is suggested the Management of Rutan (detention center) Branch of Sibuhuan Regency of Padang Lawas to regulate the density of the facility and improve the floor condition and to maintain the environment sanitation of the detention center to minimize the scabies.     Keywords : Scabies, Environment Sanitation, Personal Hygiene

Abstract

Rhodamin B synthetic dyes are substances commonly used in the textile and paper industries. Rhodamin B is often misused to food dye and coloring cosmetics such as syrup, lipstick, rouge cheeks and others. The purpose of this research is to know the existence of substance dyes rhodamin B in lipstick and a level of knowledge, attitudes and actions about the dangers of cosmetic merchant rhodamin B in the Pasar Ramai town of Medan. The method used is descriptive in nature survey to find out the whereabouts of rhodamin B dye substances on lipstick and to find out the level of knowledge, attitudes and actions about the dangers of cosmetic merchant rhodamin B in the Pasar Ramai town of Medan. The research results of dye rhodamin B in Lipstick by using paper chromatography in 10 samples of lipstick are examined, there is no containing rhodamin b. This is in accordance with the regulation of the Minister of health RI Numbers. 239/Men. Kes/Per/V/85 that states rhodamin B is one of the substances are dangerous, so the colors are not allowed their use. For the level of knowledge, attitudes and actions about the dangers of cosmetic merchant rhodamin B in the Pasar Ramai town of Medan which is of thirty merchant cosmetics, 14 persons have knowledge of good, as many as 17 people have good attitude and as many as 24 people have less good action on the danger of rhodamin b. The conclusions of this study are of 10 samples of lipstick are examined, there is no containing rhodamin b. cosmetics traders in the Pasar Ramai knowledge many about the dangers of rhodamin B field is classified as moderate, the attitude of traders crowded markets cosmetics in the field about the dangers of rhodamin B belongs to both the merchant and the lively market in the field of cosmetics on the danger of rhodamin B is less good.
