Abstract

Development of maintenance of increasing farm fields can affect the quality of the environment, one of which is the quality of the air can be decreased because of the pollution in the farm by impact. PT. Allegrindo Nusantara is one the largest farm in North Sumatra even in Southeast Asia which is located in the village of Urung Panei sub-district Purba district Simalungun. Hydrogen sulphide is a colorless gas, are very poisonous, combustible and having the characteristics of smell of rotten eggs. This research aims to know the levels of hydrogen sulfide and respiratory health complaints and complaints of irritation of the eye on people living in the area of hog farms PT. Allegrindo Nusantara. The type of research used are descriptive in nature. The population in this research is 90 people with respondents housewife with a sample is the total sampling. The results showed that levels of hydrogen sulfide in the hog farms PT. Allegrindo Nusantara 0,0002-0,016 ppm it not exceed the level indicated in the quality raw KepMenLH No. 50 in 1996. There are 36 people (40,0%) respondents who experienced respiratory tract health complaints during the last 3 months and 27 respondents (30,0%) people who suffered eye irritation complaints during the last 3 months. The conclusion is the importance of maintaining and improving the cleanliness of the farm to prevent the smell that can cause air pollution, monitoring of the air quality on an ongoing basis. In the community, it is important to use a mask and other protective as prevention efforts against respiratory tract health complaints and complaints of eye irritation. Abstract

Canteen is a place that can provide the food and sell it to the primary school’s children. Cleanliness and good food processing should be done in the school’s canteen to prevent food-borne disease. Canteen should have guidance and supervision from school throught Usaha Kesehatan Sekolah (UKS) program. In addition, the food handler also should understand and implement sanitation to minimize the contamination. The study’s aim to analyze the relationship among guidance, supervision of school, knowledge, attitude of food handler and sanitation of canteen in primary schools in Binjai. This study is analytic survey with cross-sectional design. Samples in this study are 56 schools that consisting of headmasters or teachers, food handlers and condition of canteens. The result of this study was the poor guidance (53.6%), poor control (55.4%), good knowledge of food handlers (53.6%), good attitude of food handlers  (58, 9%) and 57.1% of canteens were not qualifying. Beside that there was a real relationship between guidance, supervision of school and sanitation of canteen and there was a real relationship between knowledge, attitude of food handler and sanitation of canteen. Based on this study, the schools are recommended to supervise canteen and do  good guidance like counseling to the food handlers so that they can increase their knowledge to keep the cleanliness of canteens and can prepare and serve food well and healthy to students. Abstract

Coal briquette been an solid fuel made from coal, solid fuel is alternative fuel or constituting a substitute kerosene the cheapest and predicted to developed in mass in a relatively short time considering technology and equipment used relatively simple. Sulfur dioxide gas is preeminently resulting from the burning fossil fuels such as coal. Research aims to know levels gas SO2 and complaint respiratory on society around food industry light that uses coal briquette in the Bakaran Batu village burnt stone sub-district Batang Kuis district Deli Serdang. The design of research is descriptive. Population in this research of 180 the housewife in hamlet 1 and 2. Samples totaled 58 people housewife with used technique the sample in simple random sampling. The object of the research was done. Data were analyzed by descriptive in the form of tables and narratives. The result showed that respondents from > 40 years ( 37.9 % ), the level of education highest is sma ( 56,9 % ), respondents have been living in the village of burnt offering stone > 20 years ( 53,4 % ). On the basis of the results obtained a picture that the level of air pollution by SO2 on the settlement near the snacks industry light that uses coal briquette in the village of burnt offering stone sub-district Batang Kuis value at the average of 52,27 µg/m3, Means levels of sulfur dioxide measured is still qualify in quality standards according to PP RI No.41 1999 that is, ( 900 µg/m3). The conclusion of this research is gas SO2 in the air ambient on snacks industry in the Bakaran Batu village of burnt offering stone does not exceed quality standards. The result analysis of data that respondents describe that experience complaints of the respiratory tract as many as 39,7%. Abstract

Seeds areca extract (Areca catechu L.) was result of percolation of Seeds areca. Seeds areca extract (Areca catechu L.) could be used as natural preservative. Areca seed extract contains polyphenols which delay the growth of microbial spoilage. The purpose of this study was to determine the ability of Areca seeds extract (Areca catechu L.) in extending the shelf life of mackerel (Rastrelliger catagurna). This study used quasi experiment with Pre and Post Test Design. The object of this research was mackerel. This experiment was conducted with four treatments: without immersion (control), immersion using areca seed extract with a concentrations of 0,5%, 1%, 1,5%, and 2% in 1 L of water and any treatment carried out four repetations. The average preserving time of mackarel at concentrations 0%, which is 5 hours 45 minutes, a concentrations 0,5% which is 7 hours 45 minutes, the concentrations of 1% 9 hours 15 minutes, the concentrations of 1,5% which is 9 hours 37 minutes, and the concentrations 2% that is 10 hours 37 minutes. The result of this study showed that there were differences in durability mackerel without soaking and after soaking Areca seeds extract. The results showed that the durability of mackerel without soaking and soaking the fish were given seeds areca extract at different concentrations. Mackerel using seeds areca extract 2% produces the most durable fish, but has a bitter taste after being fried. While the mackerel using seeds areca extract 1% had retentiontime not too long, but do not have a bitter taste when fried, and fish without soaking faster slimy and foul smelling Keyword: Areca (Areca catechu L.), mackerel fish (Rastrellinger catagurna), Preservative.

Abstract

School Health Efforts (UKS) is an effort to supervise and develop healthylifestyle habits that are integrated through of health education, health services, andsupervising of environmental health. The UKS program is one of the programdevelopment of primary health care which is targeted at elementary school student,because in such age group is very vulnerable to health problems. The elementary schoolis an institution that is well organized to educate, and improve the quality of humanresources, whether physical, mental, moral, and intellectual. Supervising ofenvironmental health which aims to improve the quality of healthy life and the healthstatus of student as well as to create a healthy environment to enable growth andoptimal student development.This research aims to identify the implementationt of the supervising ofenvironmental health (planning, training and surpervision) at primary schools locatedat working area of Primary Health Care Bandar Khalipah Percut Sei Tuan DeliSerdang District.The research method used is descriptive study. The population in this research iselementary school, and the source of information are the UKS teachers and officers ofthe primary health care. The object of the research is primary school. Data wereanalysed using univariate analysis.The Result of this study showed that 63.0% the primary school has a goodprogram planning UKS, the primary school got training by 66.7% and 70.4% theprimary school have good supervising. 53.8% did not reach the health achievementtarget.It is recommended to give capacity building in planning and training as well asalways maintaining good cooperation across program and between public or privatesectors for the improvement of the UKS program in the future.Keywords : UKS, Supervising, Target, Environment Health

Abstract

Analysis of Silahi rivers water quality and health disorders at comunity on ToguDomu Nauli village, Sub-district Dolok Pardamean, Simalungun regency. Silahi river waterwas one of water source which used by Togu Domu Nauli people. In order to assure waterquality which used by people is safety therefore need a water quality control. The purpose ofthis study is to analyze Silahi river water quality for physic quality, biological quality,chemical quality and health disorders which sequanced by river water used. The method usedwas decriptive, crossectinal study with 384 population. Sampling based on simple randomsampling thus got 79 sample. The result are obtained that physic quality of Silahi river waterThe physical parameters which are not eligible for health which,colors 36.1-38.2 TCU,turbidity ranged from 0.95 to 1.13 NTU. While qualified temperature at 22.10C, TDS 57-59mg/l, TSS, 7-12 mg/l, is odorless. Chemical parameters which are not eligible for health orquality that is above standards DO revolves around 7.31-7.50 mg/l BOD range 2.7-5.09 mg/ll, COD range 7.0-10.4 mg/l. The parameters meet the standard quality raw pH 7.0-7.2,ammoniac-0.0003 0.0005 mg/l, phosphate 0.08-0.20, nitrate 1.4-1.7 mg/l, DO 7.31-7.50 mg/l,total coliform 38-140/100 ml, colifaecal 9 -70/100 ml.The results of study indicate thatpercentage of respondent with the skin diseases is 57 people (74.0%). So suggested to makewater filter, further research needs to be done about the water quality of Lake Toba aroundthe village of Nauli, Domu and Togu research about personal hygiene Togu Domu Naulivillage community.Keywords: Water, Skin health disorders,quality of the river water

Abstract

Market is area where the buying and selling of goods with the seller more than onegood something called the shopping centre traditional market, supermarket, shops, mall,plaza, central trade and others.Research is to give in idea of the characteristics and solid waste management marketand complaint skin irritation on janitor in the traditional market and modern market inMedan city 2013.This research is descriptive with sample janitor which totaled 40 people.The characteristic of respondents in the traditional market Penampungan PusatPasar the most common being a janitor ≥ 26 years: 10 people (45,5%), gender is a man: 13people (59,1%), last high school education: 13 people (59,1%), long work ≥ 1 years: 15people (68,2%), working hour ≥ 5 hours: 22 people (100%), ever had complaints of skinirritation: 8 people (36,4%). The characteristic of respondents in the modern marketBerastagi Supermarket, a janitor at most 15-20 years old: 10 people (55,6%), gender is aman: 13 people (55,6%), last high school education: 18 people (100%), long work ≤ 1years: 17 people (94,4%), working hour ≥ 5 hours: 18 people (100%), never hadcomplaints of skin irritation: 18 people (100%). The industrial area is the area that is specified for the industrial area. The total of industries in KIM (Kawasan Industri Medan) as 109 industry. Non-industrial area is a region where people can live and also the testive are in this place can caused air pollution. This research aimed to know the level of CO, NO2, SO2, the speed of wind, temperature, humidity, the total of vehicles and the distance of absorbent pollutans in industrial area and non-industrial area. This research was survey, The object of this research were CO, NO2, and SO2 level in ambient. And the result can be found directly the measure of industrial area and non-industrial area. The result showed that the level of CO was highest in industrial area (17.170 µg/Nm3), meanwhile the level of CO lowest was in non-industrial area (9.160 µg/Nm3). The level of NO2 was highest in industrial area (32,45 µg/Nm3), on the other hand the level of NO2 lowest was non-industrial area (13,05 µg/Nm3). And the level of SO2 highest was in non-industrial area (54,38 µg/Nm3), while the level of SO2 lowest was in industrial area (47,92 µg/Nm3). Conclusions of this research was the industrial area and non-industrial area did’nt over the qualities standard of air CO (30.000 µg/Nm), NO2 (400 µg/Nm) and SO2 (900 µg/Nm).
