Abstract

The Analysis of Noise Level in Elementary School at Medan Baru and Medan Petisah Subdistrict in 2013. Noise is an element of the physical environment that can interfere with human health and the environment because of convenience distraction in daily activities. Activities in urban transportation is one thing that has high potential as a source of noise. To avoid noise impact stipulated limit their level of noise that can be accepted by hearing, for a school environment which is equal to 55 dB (A).This study is an descriptive survey study, that aims to determine the noise level classrooms and libraries, highway noise levels, the distance of school to the highway, the physical condition of the public elementary school at the Medan Baru and Medan Petisah Sub District in 2013. Population elementary school in Medan Baru and Medan Petisah Sub District entirely sampled is 23 schools. Data collected by direct measurements of noise levels by using a Sound Level Meter and direct observation using the observation sheet about the physical condition of school buildings. Measurement results and observations are presented descriptively in tabular form. The results showed that the noise level around the class room and library room 23 Public Elementary School is 55,9-71,5 dBA, no qualified health determined that all of > 55 dB (A). For the physical condition of the building, all the school has met the requirements of the noise, but none of the schools that have control of noise from both outside and inside the room. According to the results of the research, it is suggested should be made efforts to reduce the noise level by installing noise barriers in school room, the use green belt along the highway, planting trees and creating a barrier or obstacle (fance) that not disconnected, solid, and not hollow between schools and roads highway. For the near future, the noise can be reduced by covering the walls of the classroom with thick curtains and close the door during the learning procces.Keywords: Noise levels, Schools, Highways, Distance, Physical Condition

Abstract

Measles is an infectious disease highly marked by virus and it may result in a more serious complication, very potential to cause to spread epidemic. In Indonesia, for 2004 nationally, the frequency existing an extra-ordinance occurrence of the Measles itself got on the second rank following DHF with total cases noted 2,818 and caused 44 death or CFR rate of 1.56%. The environment is known as one of factors that it may increase spreading out the measles. The objective of this study is to determine the correlations of the house environmental and the immunisation stated against the occurrence of measles at Desa Hutaimbaru Kecamatan Barumun Kabupaten Padang Lawas for 2013. This study adopted a descriptive survey method with Cross sectional design. The population to this research involved all families living around Desa Hutaimbaru 78 households, the population is 316 people. The sample on this research taken such as family with kids as children five years old and in school aged, included 40 households. Analyzed by uni-variant and bi-variant analysis using Chi Square test. The result of study indicated that there is a correlation on available ventilation with the measles (p = 0.011) and there is correlations between the measles immunisation stated with the measles disease (p = 0.0001). Regarding variable on crowded in people density and about lighting by ventilation has no correlation with the measles on the area. It is suggestible to the local community living around Desa Hutaimbaru, urged to improve the condition of houses environment, to recondition the environmental around at least fulfill the health requirement, still the authority should encourage the parents bring those kids to have immunization in measles preferable while age 6-59 months old and to all kids as going school to SD grade 1 through 6. Abstract

The toilet is one of facilities that there must be in the school. Toilet in many elementary school do not qualified standard especially sanitation which still below the standard. The toilet can be a source of desease. A tub of water is rarely cleaned can be a source of desease such a bacteria, virus, and others. The mosquito larva can be the cause of DBD is often found in water bath toilet that are rarely cleaned. In 2012 found that there is 7 cases of DBD, 2 of it child among 5-9 years old. This study aimed to find the toilets sanitation on toilets elementary school at Desa Sei Rotan Kecamatan Percut Sei Tuan Tahun 2013. Besides mosquito larva monitoring and counting the number of container index. This study was descriptive, to describe the sanitary toilets on elementary school and mosquito larva monitoring on toilet elementary school. Object of this study is sanitary toilets on elementary school totaling 44 toilets. This study did mosquito larva monitoring also. The study found from 44 toilets, 18 toilet (40%) have a good value while 26 toilet others (59,1%) have values than less good according to PERMENKES No. 1429 tahun 2006 about Pedoman Penyelenggaraan Kesehatan Lingkungan Sekolah. Container whom found larva is 5 from 44 toilets. So that it can be noted that the number of container index is 11,36 %. Puskesmas expected to perform the UKS schools, especially in the field of sanitary toilets in the form regular visits. The schools should pay more attention to sanitation toilets by creating regulations picket schoold with empowering disciples untick keep clean toilets and toilets fixtures complementin in the from of a trash can, desinfestan, brush, and broom. Abstract

ABSTRACT Water is an second essential element for life after oxygen. The clean water must have chemical, physical, and biological quality. One of the chemical parameters is Manganese (Mn).The people in Desa Amplas, Kecamatan Percut Sei Tuan, Kabupaten Deli Serdang use dug well water that contains high concentration of manganese (Mn), so that the process to decrease it is necessarily needed. Activated carbon of rice husk is one of the alternative materials that are used to decrease the concentration of manganese in the water. The purpose of this research was to determine effectiveness of activated carbon of rice husk in decreasing Mn concentration in the dug well water in Desa Amplas. The type of research was Quasy Experiment with Pre and Post test design. The sample was dug well water mixed 1 gr, 2 gr, and 3 gr of the activated carbon of rice husk  into every 100 mL water and another one was not given at all (0 gr) this one was as control. Each done 4 times. The research found that the concentration of Mn in water sample without being mixed the activated carbon (control) is 3,35579 mg/L, in 1 gr is 2,97591 mg/L, in 2 gr is 2,47997mg/L, and in 3 gr is 1,68893 mg/L while according to Permenkes RI No.416 tahun 1990, Mn is 0,5 mg/L. Based on Kruskal-wallis test at level of confidence of 95%. result shows the significant (p = 0,003) difference between various treatment of the activated carbon of rice husk to decrease Mn concentration dug well water in Amplas village. BNT test result shows that activated carbon of rice husk that is able to decrease the biggest concentration of Mn is in 3 gr. The usage of activated carbon of rice husk is effective to decrease Mn concentration but fulfilling standard quality Permenkes RI No. 416 of 1990 not yet that  exceed 0,5 mg/L. Suggested to the people in Desa Amplas, Kecamatan Percut Sei Tuan, Kabupaten Deli Serdang not only using the activated carbon of rice husk in dug well water treatment but also accompanied with other chemicals such as Zeolite. Abstract

Battery recycling industry is one effective way to avoid the junk pile B3. However, the processing is not oriented environment it becomes a threat to the environment and the health of the surrounding population. The objective of this study to know the content of Cadmium and Plumbum in the public dig well water around the battery recycling industry and health problems in public. Kind of descriptive study that observatifs sanitary dig well, the content of Cadmium and Plumbum in water dig well, and health problems in public living around the battery recycling indusrtry. Sample wells were taken 10 point 50 meters from the industry, and people who live im the Dusun III. The research found sanitary well contamination risk (100%), standard water containing Cd eligible (100%) and Pb (90%). Drinking water standards are not eligible Cd (20%) and Pb (100%). Helath problems in public include itching of the skin (25%), dry scaly skin disorders (21,7%), itchy and scaly skin disorders (15,2%), nausea (6,5%), death taste (21,7%), black feaces (42,4%), bone pain and difficulty moving (1,1%), back pain (2,2%) and increased blood pressure (7,6%). Suggested the role of government in an effort to control the industry and increasing public knowledge about well water contamination from battery recycling industry and sanitary dig well through training, extension and restoration, so avoid health problems. Abstract

Iced tea is a traditional beverage which favored by many people. Iced tea could be contaminated by bacteria if not better way of processing. One of the bacteria that can contaminate is Escherichia coli which is an indicator of fecal coliforms and if drinking water contaminated by E. coli is the possibility that has been contaminated by human feces. This study aims to determine the content of Escherichia coli in iced tea and also hygiene and sanitation management iced tea in pajak karona jamin ginting kecamatan medan baru in 2013. The method used is a descriptive survey. The data obtained through observations and laboratory tests. Based on the survey results revealed that all examined iced tea have been contaminated by Escherichia coli is 7 samples 240 MPN, 2 samples 96 MPN and 1 sample 27 MPN. This is unqualified with Permenkes RI No.492/Menkes/Per/IV/2010 which states that the amount of content of E. coli in drinks is 0/100 ml sample. The presence of E. coli in iced tea may contaminated by human feces. Possible contamination of iced tea can be caused by lack of hygiene in the processing of iced tea, because based on observations obtained that all merchants have not applied the principles of hygiene and sanitation. To handle and restain the situation need to prevent the holding of inviligation and controlling by the relevant agencies (Departemen Kesehatan) about the importance of hygiene and sanitation iced tea. Abstract

Occupational health and safety program is very important for the company, making it PT. Pertamina Refinery Unit II Dumai put the occupational security and  safety in the first rank ( safety first ). Based on the monthly evaluation which done by HSE section the unstable achievement aspects occupational safety especially for HSE Awareness program (Awareness of safety health workers in work environment). One way to provide motivation for the employee allegedly can improve awareness that the importance of employees work safety and health in the work environment. The aim of research is to know the influence of work motivation (intrinsic and extrinsic) on the implementation occupational health and safety program in the Heavy Oil Complex Unit (HOC) PT.Pertamina (Persero) Refinery Unit Dumai II by 2013. This research is survey of analytic with cross sectional design,  sample taken a whole of employees (75 people). Analysis of the data used is univariat, bivariat with Spearman Correlations test. The result of research showed that there was significant correlation between intrinsic and extrinsic work motivation with the implementation of occupational safety and health program, with p value < 0,05. The suggestions for management and heads sections (HOC) PT.Pertamina (Persero) Refinery Unit II Dumai are to increase collaboration so as to maintain the work motivation (intrinsic and extrinsic) in the Heavy Oil Complex Unit (HOC). Abstract

ABSTRAC Kampung Padang village is one of the villages in the Panyabungan district are endemic Malaria with AMI (Annual Malaria Incidence) of 29.21 ‰ and API (Annual Parasite Incidence) of 63.41 ‰. Incidence of malaria caused by human contact with malaria mosquitoes and supported by the housing and unfavorable environmental conditions. The purpose of this study to know the relationship of the characteristics of respondents and the physical environmental factors on the incidence of malaria in the Kampung Padang village Panyabungan of District Mandailing Natal of Subdistrict. This research was conducted with non parametric methods of analysis with Case Control design. The total sample of 85 heads of families consisting of 35 cases and 50 controls. Data were analyzed with non-parametric analysis methods of analysis with Chi Square test. The results obtained that there is a relationship of the education  (p = 0,009, OR = 0,304: 95% CI = 0,124-0,750), employment (p = 0,001),, social cultural, wire gauze on ventilation (p = 0.001), lagit-sky home (p = 0,001, OR = 0,135: 95% CI = 0,051-0,358), wall density (p = 0,001, OR = 0,160: 95% CI = 0,059-0,439), humidity (p = 0,001, OR = 5,608: 95% CI = 2,152-14,611) and lighting (p = 0,007, OR = 3,656: 95% CI = 1,394-9,592)on the incidence of malaria. It is suggested to health department to educate the community particulary Malaria disease. This can be done through socialization with PKK, IHC, or community health center and should increase the activity PJB (Larva Monitoring Periodic) in each home or in public places such as schools, mosques, markets, terminals, and raised his interpreter monitors larvae and for the people should pay attention to the cleanliness of the environment. Abstract

ABSTRACT Noise is unwanted sound from an activity which could cause disruption of human health and comfort environment. The impact of noise like physiological disturbances, psychological, communication and effects of hearing loss. At this time the noise began to increase in the community in the form of physical development activities as a means of transport, should be controlled noise level so as not to exceed the limits. The objective of this study to know correlated the exposure to noise and the characteristics of the driver becak vespa to the blood pressure in Kota Padangsidimpuan. Type of research is a survey has analytic with research design cross secsional. The variables measured were the characteristics of the driver, the noise exposure and blood pressure. The population in this research is the driver becak vespa, which conducted to 300 persons and a sample of 55 people. Research is analyzed with test Spearman and Mann-Whitney. The research found no significant correlation between age and work time towards blood pressure (p>0,05) with correlation power very weak(r<0,02)and way of correlation is positive meanwhile long exposure to noise and exposure to noise have way of negative with test Spearman. No significant correlation between use of helmet and habit drink coffee towards blood pressure (p>0,05) with Mann-Whitney. This is suggested to reduce noise by not modified exhaust vespa, use of helmet, reducing long exposure with rest/not in places with high sound intensity, is expected to relevant agencies such as the Department of Health, the Department of Transportation to educate driver about the influence of noise and his way, and the driver with the rise in blood pressure checked his health.
