Abstract

This randomized controlled trial aimed to examine the impact of Virtual Reality Exposure Therapy (VRET) on phobia treatment outcomes compared to traditional Exposure Therapy (ET). Participants diagnosed with specific phobias were randomly assigned to either the VRET or ET group. Both groups underwent a standardized treatment protocol consisting of exposure sessions targeting their specific phobic stimuli. Outcome measures included phobia symptom severity, treatment adherence, treatment satisfaction, fear generalization, and long-term maintenance of treatment gains. The results revealed comparable effectiveness between VRET and ET, with both groups showing significant reductions in phobia symptoms. Treatment adherence rates were high in both groups, indicating participants' engagement with the interventions. Additionally, participants in the VRET group reported high treatment satisfaction ratings, highlighting the acceptability of virtual reality technology in therapy. Fear generalization was successful in both groups, suggesting that treatment effects extended beyond the targeted phobic stimuli. Follow-up assessments at three and six months post-treatment demonstrated the maintenance of treatment gains in both groups. These findings provide evidence for the effectiveness of VRET as a viable alternative to traditional ET in treating specific phobias. The study contributes to the growing literature on virtual reality-based interventions and highlights the potential of VRET as an accessible and immersive treatment option for individuals with specific phobias

Abstract

This research is about women's perception of attractiveness towards men's tone of voice. The male voice changes during puberty. The change is caused by the increase in the size of the base of the vocal cords caused by the action of the hormone testosterone. Supported by their developmental tasks, voice is one aspect that is assessed by young adults in choosing the best opposite sex as their partner. The study was conducted on a female population in a country with a collectivist culture. The experiment was designed by manipulating the tone of the male voice as a stimulus which was then played to the participants to rate their attractiveness level. The results of the repeated measures ANOVA analysis show that there is a true influence of tone of voice on perceptions of attractiveness. Research is enriched by discussing new findings that are different from previous research. Young adult heterosexual women perceive mid-range vocal tones (average 119 Hz) as the most attractive range of vocal tones, assuming that cultural influences play a role.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the correlation between political trust and the intention to vote for first-time voters. This correlational quantitative study involved 150 first-time voters who live in the city of Malang. The participants were obtained using a purposive sampling technique. Political trust is measured using the political trust scale (Akhrani, 2016) which has been modified by Imansari (2016) and refers to research by Lewicki, McAllister, & Bies (1998). The intention to choose is measured by modifying the intention to choose scale (Astriyani, 2018) which refers to the theory of Fishbein & Ajzen (1991). Analysis of the research data using the Pearson's Product Moment technique. The results of the study show that there is a positive correlation between political belief and voting intentions. The higher the political trust that novice voters have, the higher the intention to vote. This is supported by the value of p = 0.328 with a significance level of 0.000 (p <0.005).

The results of the research were then processed using the product moment correlation coefficient technique from the Person, with the help of the Static Product and Service Solution (SPSS) computer program so that validity was obtained. The reliability of the instrument was tested using the Alpha technique. For the job satisfaction variable, the validity was 0.3133 – 0.7643 with a reliability of 0.9074, while for the work discipline variable the validity ranged from 0.3194 – 0.7593 with a reliability of 0.9167.
