Jurnal Ilmu Bimbingan dan Konseling (BIKOLING) adalah publikasi ilmiah yang berfokus pada pengembangan ilmu, praktik, dan inovasi di bidang bimbingan dan konseling. Jurnal ini menjadi wadah bagi akademisi, peneliti, dan praktisi untuk berbagi temuan penelitian, kajian teoretis, serta pendekatan baru yang relevan dalam mendukung perkembangan individu di berbagai konteks pendidikan, sosial, dan profesional. Abstract

Academic failure is a common experience among senior high school students and may lead to emotional distress when not accompanied by adaptive emotion regulation skills. This study aims to analyze the role of self-compassion and Stoic philosophy as foundations of emotion regulation among senior high school students following academic failure within the context of guidance and counseling. This research employed a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) of national and international scholarly articles published between 2019 and 2025 and selected based on their relevance to emotion regulation, academic failure, and adolescent development. The findings indicate that self-compassion helps students respond to failure more adaptively by reducing self-criticism and enhancing self-acceptance, thereby alleviating emotional distress. Meanwhile, Stoicism provides a cognitive–philosophical framework for emotion regulation through the principle of the dichotomy of control. The integration of self-compassion and Stoicism in guidance and counseling services, particularly through group counseling, has the potential to strengthen emotion regulation and promote the psychological well-being of senior high school students.

Abstract

The phenomenon of phubbing has increasingly emerged among adolescents along with the rapid growth of smartphone use. Previous studies indicate that this behavior negatively affects social interaction quality, empathy, academic attention, and students’ psychological well-being. This article reviews national and international research on phubbing and examines the effectiveness of group guidance interventions that integrate mindful communication and mindfulness-based counseling techniques. The review shows that mindful communication enhances presence, self-regulation, empathy, and attentiveness, making it a relevant approach for reducing phubbing behavior. The findings further highlight that developing a group guidance model grounded in mindful communication has strong potential as an innovative comprehensive school counseling service to address phubbing among students.

Abstract

Students, from the perspective of the philosophy of guidance and counseling, are viewed as holistic human beings who possess multidimensional potential, encompassing intellectual, emotional, social, moral, and spiritual aspects. This article aims to examine the philosophical view of students as insan kamil (the complete human being) and its relevance to the field of guidance and counseling. The study employs a qualitative approach using a literature review method, drawing on sources from educational philosophy, Islamic philosophy, and guidance and counseling studies. The findings indicate that the concept of insan kamil provides a philosophical foundation for guidance and counseling services oriented toward the holistic development of students’ personalities. Guidance and counseling not only function to assist in problem-solving but also play a role in guiding students toward self-maturity, noble character, and spiritual balance.

Abstract

Islamic counseling is a guidance and counseling approach rooted in Islamic teachings that aims to help individuals achieve holistic well-being encompassing psychological, spiritual, social, and moral dimensions. Unlike conventional counseling, which tends to emphasize cognitive and emotional aspects, Islamic counseling integrates spiritual values as a fundamental element in the helping process. The principle of tauhid (monotheism) serves as the main foundation that shapes an individual’s worldview of life, self-concept, and coping mechanisms in dealing with various life challenges. This article aims to examine the internalization of the principle of tauhid as a foundational paradigm in Islamic counseling through a literature review approach. The study analyzes classical and contemporary literature in the fields of Islamic theology, psychology, and counseling to understand the integration of tauhid values within the philosophical, ethical, and practical foundations of counseling. The findings indicate that tauhid functions as a philosophical foundation that gives meaning to human existence under divine guidance, an ethical foundation that fosters moral responsibility for both counselors and counselees, and a practical foundation that influences counseling techniques such as muhasabah (self-reflection), spiritual reflection, tawakkul (reliance on God), patience (sabr), and gratitude (shukr). The internalization of tauhid values significantly contributes to strengthening psychological resilience, reducing anxiety, and enhancing mental and spiritual well-being. Therefore, Islamic counseling based on tauhid offers a holistic, culturally relevant, and effective approach in addressing mental health challenges among Muslim communities in the modern era.

Abstract

The development of digital technology has introduced new challenges to education, particularly in the formation of students’ character. Comprehensive Guidance and Counseling (CGC) is regarded as having a strategic role in addressing these challenges; however, its implementation in practice remains predominantly focused on administrative and responsive aspects. This article aims to analyze and synthesize research findings related to the integration of prophetic values—humanization, liberation, and transcendence—within the implementation of Comprehensive Guidance and Counseling in the digital era. This study employs a qualitative descriptive approach using a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method guided by the PRISMA framework. Literature searches were conducted through Google Scholar, DOAJ, Garuda, and SINTA, covering publications from 2020 to 2025. Out of 68 identified articles, 21 met the inclusion criteria and were analyzed thematically. The findings indicate that the integration of prophetic values strengthens the developmental and preventive orientation of Comprehensive Guidance and Counseling by positioning students as dignified subjects, promoting liberation from psychosocial constraints, and fostering spiritual awareness as a foundation for self-regulation. Furthermore, the utilization of digital media in guidance and counseling services is considered effective when grounded in value-based and ethical principles. Therefore, the integration of prophetic values within digital-based Comprehensive Guidance and Counseling represents a relevant and strategic approach to strengthening students’ character holistically in the digital era.

Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology has driven significant transformations in guidance and counseling services, one of which is the implementation of online counseling. This service offers substantial opportunities to enhance the accessibility and flexibility of counseling services; however, it also raises various challenges and complex ethical issues. This study aims to examine online counseling services within the framework of Comprehensive Guidance and Counseling by focusing on opportunities, challenges, and ethical issues in the digital era. This research employed a qualitative approach using a literature review method. Data were collected from relevant sources, including national and international journal articles, scholarly books, and policy documents related to online counseling and Comprehensive Guidance and Counseling. Data analysis was conducted using content analysis to systematically integrate conceptual and empirical findings. The results indicate that online counseling has strong potential to strengthen all components of Comprehensive Guidance and Counseling, namely basic services, responsive services, individual planning, and system support. Nevertheless, its implementation continues to face challenges, particularly related to counselors’ digital competence, technological infrastructure gaps, and the high risk of ethical violations, especially concerning confidentiality and data security. Therefore, the integration of online counseling within the Comprehensive Guidance and Counseling framework requires strengthening counselors’ professional competencies, establishing clear ethical regulations, and providing adequate system support to ensure that counseling services are delivered safely, ethically, and sustainably in the digital era.

Abstract

Alpha Generation students in boarding school environments require a unique career guidance approach due to their characteristics as digital natives with high visual expectations. This study aims to design a classical guidance model within the Comprehensive Guidance and Counseling (Comprehensive GC) framework by integrating innovative digital media. Using a library research method through the Google Scholar database, this study analyzes five key articles relevant to the development of digital media in guidance and counseling services. The findings indicate that: (1) gamification strategies and artificial intelligence (AI) are effective as curiosity triggers for students; (2) immersive media such as 360° videos are able to bridge the limitations of boarding school students’ physical access to the global industrial world; and (3) career identity personalization through creative design platforms such as Canva enhances students’ self-efficacy in STEM fields. The conclusion of this study emphasizes that the integration of technology in classical guidance services is not merely a supporting tool, but a central pillar in fostering students’ independent and adaptive career maturity in the era of Society 5.0.

Abstract

Developing the communication skills of children with disabilities is crucial to support academic skills and communication interactions. These communication skills can be developed through specific and intensive teaching and training, one of which is speech therapy. Speech therapy itself is an effort to assist children in improving their communication skills through various exercises. Speech therapy conducted at SLB Negeri 2 Yogyakarta includes three stages: the initial stage, which includes room preparation, child preparation, and reward preparation; the second stage, which involves eye contact, instructions, responses, prompts, and rewards; and the third stage, which involves recording the child's progress in a child development notebook and evaluating it weekly. Evaluation results indicate that speech therapy significantly assists in developing the communication skills of children with disabilities. Previously, children had difficulty pronouncing words, responding to instructions, and communicating with their surroundings. However, after undergoing speech therapy, children began to pronounce words more clearly, respond to instructions, and showed improvement in communicating with teachers and peers.

Abstract

Religious guidance is a form of development that plays an important role in the process of spiritual recovery for prisoners in correctional institutions. Prisoners, as individuals serving their sentences, often experience spiritual, psychological, and moral problems due to their past mistakes and the pressures of the prison environment. This study aims to understand the implementation of religious guidance and its role as a means of spiritual recovery for prisoners at Banyuwangi Class IIA Prison. The research method used is qualitative with a descriptive approach. Data collection was conducted through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study show that religious guidance at Banyuwangi Class IIA Prison is carried out through various religious activities such as study groups, worship training, religious lectures, and moral development. These activities have a positive impact on the spiritual recovery of prisoners. which is marked by an increased religious awareness, inner peace, remorse for past actions, as well as a change in attitude and behavior for the better. Nevertheless, the implementation of religious guidance still faces several challenges, such as a limited number of mentors and supporting facilities. Therefore, efforts are needed to improve the quality of development so that religious guidance can be carried out more effectively and sustainably. Overall, religious guidance has proven to be an effective means of supporting inmates' spiritual recovery and preparing them to return to society as better individuals.
