Abstract

This research aims to: (1) describe the process of using Maestro Music application in learning creative music in class XI MIA 3 SMA Negeri 2 Padangsidimpuan; (2) evaluate the results of using Maestro Music application in learning creative music in class XI MIA 3 SMA Negeri 2 Padangsidimpuan;and (3) describe the benefits of using Maestro Music application in learning creative music. The sample for this study consisted of 8 individuals, namely 1 art teacher of SMA Negeri 2 Padangsidimpuan and 7 students from grade XI MIA 3 SMA Negeri 2 Padangsidimpuan. The research method used was qualitative with descriptive approach. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, and documentation. The research results show: (1) The process of using the Maestro Music application in learning creative music in class XI MIA 3 involves several stages, including downloading the application, providing instructional videos about the Maestro Music application via video links, offering practice exercises such as transcribing song scores into the Maestro Music application; (2) The benefits of using the Maestro Music application in learning creative music.

Abstract

Dangdut music is highly popular among the general public. This study aimed to identify, analyze, and describe the forms of performance by the Bintang Remaja classic dangdut music group in Kendal regency. This study employed descriptive qualitative method. Data were collected using observation, interviews, and documentation. The validity of the data was ensured through triangulation techniques. Data analysis was conducted in stages, including data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study reveal two aspects of the Bintang Remaja dangdut music group’s performance: composition and presentation: (1) The composition aspect includes rhythm in a 4/4 time signature; melody utilizing three movements (horizontal, stepwise, and leaps); harmony with chord progressions I, VII, V, VI; tempo in the Allegro category; dynamics, expression, and instruments such as microphone, guitar, bass, keyboard, flute, drums, and kendang; with song lyrics for "Teman Biasa." (2) The presentation aspect encompasses stage setup with outdoor rigging; sound system using the Ashley brand; lighting with PAR LED and Moving Head Beam; costumes and makeup; performance structure including opening, main performance, and closing; and formation. In addition, the Bintang Remaja music group consistently performs works by Rhoma Irama and other classic dangdut artists, as the group is known for its characteristic rendition of classic dangdut music.

Abstract

Lego-lego art in Alor society today is influenced by globalization so that at the present time it is not displayed live but uses audio recordings which make the existence of the art less meaningful and meaningful to the art. The purpose of this study is to analyze what factors influence the existence of Lego-lego art in the Alor people. This research uses a qualitative approach to literature review through several scientific article literature, YouTube media and e-books about the people of Alor. The results show that the existence of Lego-lego art can be seen from its use as a means of entertainment and as a medium of learning in subjects at school to improve student character education.

Abstract

Music is an important component of Christian worship in churches, which serves as the accompanying music. This is particularly true in charismatic churches, which primarily use contemporary music that evolves with current trends. In charismatic Christian worship, music plays a role in accompanying and creating the atmosphere for praise and worship songs. This research addresses the issue of symbolic interaction between worship leader and the accompanying music in Christian worship at Isa Almasih Church, Deliksari Gunungpati Semarang. This research employed descriptive qualitative method and used data collection techniques, namely observation, interviews, and documentation. Triangulation was used to ensure the data validity. For analysis, this research used data reduction, data presentation, drawing conclusions, and verification. The findings show that the symbolic interactions between the worship leader and music ministers during worship involves music elements such as pitch, dynamics, rhythm, tempo, melody, and tone color or timbre. This symbolic interaction is formed through agreements made during practice sessions between the worship leader and the music ministers.

Abstract

Indonesia, with its diversity of arts and culture, faces unique challenges in copyright protection in the digital era. Globalization and digital technology have transformed the landscape of the arts industry, introducing both new opportunities and complex risks. The aim of this research is to explore the ethical and managerial issues related to copyright protection of artistic works in Indonesia. This study employs a qualitative approach with a focus on literature review. Copyright protection in the Indonesian arts industry encounters several challenges, including ineffective law enforcement, the gap between technological advancements and regulations, and the need for more adequate legal infrastructure. The importance of enhancing legal awareness and public education, as well as the necessity of collaboration among government, relevant institutions, and the industry in addressing these challenges, cannot be underestimated. Furthermore, adaptive regulatory updates and responsiveness to technological advancements, the enhancement of ethical awareness in the use of artistic works, and the implementation of cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence and blockchain are strategic steps in strengthening copyright management.

Abstract

Media is a component of education that functions to improve student learning outcomes. The use of media by students is closely related to their level of study and the topics being learned. Therefore, the selection and effort made by students in utilizing media can significantly impact their learning achievements. This study aimed to identify, describe, and analyze the types of media used by students and their efforts in utilizing these media to enhance their learning outcomes. This study employed descriptive quantitative method complemented by qualitative research procedures. The sample consisted of seventh-grade students from SMP Negeri (State Junior High School) 2 Kota Semarang. Data collection techniques included observation, questionnaires, structured interviews, and document studies. Descriptive statistical analysis was conducted using IBM SPSS Statistics version 25, followed by an interactive model comprising data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and data verification. The results show that 68% of seventh-grade students are familiar with various forms of media, and 67% have already used them. One of the media used by these students is musical instruments. Seventh-grade students use media with the aim of enhancing their learning outcomes. In terms of academic achievements in music, seventh-grade students demonstrated improvement, as evidenced by an increase in the average midterm exam score from 81.3518 to 85.5276 by the end of the semester. The most frequent midterm score of 75.00 rose to 83.00 by the end of the semester. These findings suggest that the use of educational media can indeed enhance learning outcomes in music for seventh-grade students.

Abstract

This study analyzes the musical meaning in the lyrics of the song "Limpung van Java" by Migsel Limpung, which highlights the beauty and identity of Limpung City in Batang Regency. The primary goal of this research is to understand the message conveyed through the song's lyrics. Qualitative method with text analysis approach was used to explore the elements and connotations within the lyrics. The findings show that the use of repetition and a structured lyrical format creates a memorable and profound effect for listeners. The lyrics of "Limpung van Java" express pride in the city through phrases like "Kota Emping adalah julukannya" (Emping City is its nickname), which depict Limpung's distinctive products and cultural identity. In addition, the lyrics reflect strong values of brotherhood and community spirit in the city. The influence of the rocksteady genre in the music adds emotional depth and reinforces the message about the city’s beauty and friendliness. This research highlights the importance of understanding lyrical meaning and the impact of musical elements in appreciating the complexity and richness of local cultural expressions.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate how dangdut songs are used as background music for content on the TikTok application. This study employed descriptive qualitative method to examine the popularity of five selected dangdut koplo songs among its content creators. Data collection techniques involved direct documentation of available data within the application. The findings indicate that TikTok plays a significant role in shaping trends in content types and popularizing songs used as background music. Songs such as "Ngopi Maszeh," "Rungkad," "Mendung Tanpo Udan," "Ojo Dibandingke," and "Los Dol" are frequently chosen by TikTok content creators as background music. The choice of content types by creators is influenced by the stimulating or calming musical elements in the selected songs. Thus, TikTok not only serves as an entertaining social platform but also stands as a major force in influencing cultural trends and supporting the global music industry through innovative and inspirational means

Abstract

Street  music has become a widespread social phenomenon in almost every major city worlwide, including Indonesia. Street musicians often belong to marginalized group amidst urban growth in Indonesia, particularly in Ungaran City, Semarang Regency. These musicians occupy public spaces such as intersections, traffic lights, public transport, cafes, and restaurants scattered throughout the city. This research employed qualitative method with musical ethnography approach to gain a comprehesive understanding of the communication dialectics among street musicians in public spaces. It aimed to analyze data related to the communication dialectics among street musicians occuring at traffic lights in Ungaran, including verbal, non-verbal, and musical communication. The findings are expected to provide insight into the communication dynamics during street musicians’ performances in public spaces, particularly at traffic lights, and to offer new perspectives for policymakers on maximizing public space utilization for the benefit of residents..

Abstract

Keroncong is a distinctive Indonesian music genre regarded as a cultural heritage that needs preservation. However, keroncong music faces the threat of extinction, a concern shared by musicians, music enthusiasts, cultural experts, and government officials. This study aimed to identify and explain the establishment of “JARUM SIKENANG" program as an effort to promote cultural advancement through the preservation of keroncong music to boost tourism in Semarang City. This study employed qualitative method, with data collected through document studies. The data analysis followed the stages of data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings include expanding public access to keroncong music (development aspect), organizing workshops to improve the quality of keroncong musicians (mentoring aspect), promoting keroncong music to the wider community (protection aspect), involving keroncong musicians in various tourism events, and partnering with sponsors to improve the welfare of keroncong musicians in Semarang City (utilization aspect).
