Abstract

Television 9 (TV9) is a private broadcast station owned by the East Java Regional Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PWNU). TV9 is faced with the NU-style management issues that are thick with pesantren (Islamic boarding school) characteristics, both in terms of human resources and the management system developed by the media company. However, the applied management has actually made TV9 able to reach the maximum audience. The researchers employed qualitative methods. Through such method, this research obtained the results, namely; First, it is owned and managed by Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), as a business entity, TV9 is pursuing profit. TV9 management is managed with the aim of obtaining a very large marketing content for urban Muslims, especially the nahdliyin (NU community). TV9 is able to design programs based on the characteristics and interests of the nahdliyin community so that it gets a positive reception and affects its increase in performance share and ratings. Second, as a religious television station, TV9 prefers "dominant stars" by presenting speakers from the NU circles who have Islamic boarding schools, or students who have many influences in the society. The da'wah program is packed flexibly, lightly but does not leave the substance of the da'wah. Third, there are several factors which becom the primary determinants in the process of making a da'wah program, namely; 1) to attract public interest, 2) to increase ratings and shares, 3) to persuade companies to advertise their products through da'wah broadcast on TV9.

Abstract

So far, masjids (mosques) have only been used as places of mahdhoh ibadah (the worship of Allah). However, during the time of the Prophet Muhammad, masjids were functioned as the center of government, economic, education, defense and security center, and others. The view that considers the masjid only as a place of mahdhoh ibadah (worship) causes the economic development of the masjid and the surrounding community to be less developed, so that the condition of the masjid cannot be independent, let alone to help the welfare of the surrounding community. Since the time of the Prophet, the people around the masjid have been able to take advantage of the masjid-based economic system, namely through Baitul Maal Wat Tamwil (BMT). This institution has become one of the economic institutions that is able to guarantee the economic independence of the masjid and at the same time help empower the economy of the people around it. Especially at this time, the economic condition of the community is in sharp decline due to the Covid-19 pandemic. It takes togetherness from all masjids to help each other and strengthen the community's economy.

Abstract

Islam is a universal civilization, a religion of equity not destruction. Islam encourages its followers to believe in their own abilities and not depend on what other people give while prioritizing what is beneficial for them. Islamic civilization will develop if it is able to communicate with the local culture in a selective manner and still adheres to Aswaja (Ahlus sunnah Wal Jamaah) values. If Islam blindly followed the developing culture in the society, both the local and foreign cultures, Islam would lose its identity and the Muslim community would be separated from its cultural roots. The values of Islamic civilization are: Rabbiyah value (the divine values), Insâniyah value (the human value). Wâqi'iyah value (the practical value), Wasathiyah value (the Islamic moderatation value), Tawâzun value (the equilibration value), Tsabât value (the fixity value) and Murûnah value (the flexibility value). The nobleness of Islamic values should not only be a theory, but also needs to be implemented. The deeper the implementation, the more sublime the civilization will be. Human life must be based on the belief that we belong to Allah and to Him we shall return.

Abstract

In a conservative pondok pesantren's (Islamic boarding school) business, its management is run and only managed by the Kyai (An expert in Islam, the Head of the pesantren). However, such conservative management makes the business go slow in growth (passive), primitive and unsuitable with the needs of the growing market. Different from other conservative ones, the business of Pondok Pesantren Al-Barakah An-Nur Khumairoh, a convenient store, is not only for Kyai or his family's benefits, but for the Pondok Pesantren activities in general, major functions of the Pesantren, teachers' welfare, and others. The research data was obtained by interview, observation and documentation methods. The theory of communication employed in this research is Juli T. Wood's theory which states that there are three aspects that can benefit from learning communication: academic, professional, and personal aspects. Other theories employed are Interpersonal communication using a circular model and the Credibility theory, which consists of three: Initial Credibility, Derivative Credibility, and Terminal Credibility. The results of this study indicate that the acts of delegating, appointing and giving trust from a Kyai to the Santri to manage the business of a Pesantren - in this case the Convenience store of Pondok Pesantren al-Barakah an-Nur Khumairoh- is very effective in teaching independence to the santri. It can also instill entrepreneurial skill to the students.

Abstract

Islam is a religion that gives mercy to all creation, a religion that teaches peace, safety and prosperity. In recent years, there have been many wicked individuals trying to destroy Islam. Unlike in the past where waging war on Islam were done only with swords, today's war against Islam is more powerful, that is by planting seeds of doubt in every Muslim's heart. Both in terms of aqidah (Creed) and Sharia (Islamic law). The current study is a library research. The main sources of this research data were taken from the kutub al sittah (the authentic six): Ṣaḥīḥ Bukhārī, Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim, Sunan Abī Dāwūd, Sunan al-Nasāʾi, Sunan al-Tirmidhi, and Sunan Ibn Mājah. Meanwhile, the secondary sources were taken from the takhrij and shurūḥ al-hadīth books. The conclusion of the current study reveals that the death penalty for those who turn back from Islam or apostates can be applied if they meet two conditions: 1) Leaving Islam either by word or deed; 2) Committing criminal acts, such as: dividing Muslims, creating chaos, damage, disobeying the state, and helping the enemy in fighting the Muslims. The author concludes that neither the verses in the Qur'an nor the hadiths of the Prophet PBUH immediately order the killing of a person who turns back from Islam, unless that person commits insubordination, is in league with the enemy and other similar things.

Abstract

The current covid-19 pandemic forces many community activities to be carried out at home. Such "work from home" movement results in the longer gathering time between family members. Naturally, this result can add to the physical closeness and intimacy between them. However, attachment is also seen from the emotional or psychological side. The current study focuses on secure attachment between adolescent children and their parents. The methods employed in this research were structured observation and semi-structured interviews. Based on the observations, it was found that the attachment was well established and had a high percentage. Apart from being physically close due to this pandemic, the maturity of adolescents also became the reason for the successful attachment to parents.

Abstract

Indonesia is a country that applies a democratic political system. One of the means of the democratic political system in Indonesia is the General Election. The implementation of a democratic election should be carried out in accordance with the election principles abided by Indonesia, namely Luber-Jurdil (Direct, General, Free, Confidential, Honest, Fair). In order for the principle of Luber-Jurdil to be carried out, supervisions are requireds. Supervision is not only carried out by Panwaslu (General Election Supervisory Agency), the public also have to play a role in that supervision. The public can monitor, either directly or indirectly, the process of running a democracy / elections. The results of the current study show that there were several causes of abstention in the last 2018 elections, namely: 1) Internal factors which include technical factor and occupational factor, 2). External factors which include administrative factor, and political factor. There are also solutions to reduce the number of abstentions for the next election by easing the rules for voters to be able to vote, improving the data collection and voter registration system so that it has fresher outlook (requires adequate personnel and budget support), changing the right to vote into an obligation to vote. The electoral system must be very easy for voters to understand (for example, easy voting procedures, simple ballot paper design). For those solutions, it is necessary to involve strategic groups, such as first-time voters, religious people, women, people with disabilities and marginalized groups.
